I'm going to get one from Lockerz... in maybe two years or something... right now I have a unibody white MacBook and it works perfectly, and I've got an SD card reader so I don't need to worry about the built-in Sd reader.

'Pro' is supposed to indicate that it's for professionals. As far as I'm concerned, it's not a Pro until it uses dedicated graphics.

Not many professionals play 3D intensive video games, and almost no pro software is GPU accelerated other than 3D modeling software. Not even Photoshop or other picture or video editors benefit much from discrete graphic memory at this time. Do some research.

And as a video editor constantly working with both Avid and Final Cut, I and pretty much all of my peers know they can't rely on integrated graphics. I'm not gonna pretend to know more than you. I can only tell you what our experience is rendering HD video after the final grade in the online edit.

I don't know about Avid, but yes, Final Cut is one of the few exceptions, it heavily depends on discrete memory, but that doesn't mean that the 13 inch isn't a pro machine, it's just not for all pros.

I'm not interested in getting into a quintessentially YouTubian slagging match, so fair dos. I concede that my colleagues do spend a lot of time on Final Cut but we've used both PC and Mac Avid and as soon as you get to the final stages of rendering, you're always gonna want dedicated graphics.

You're right - not all pros need it. But I'd say graphics was always the substantitive differentiator and what earned the Pro status. Other than aesthetics and screen, I can't really think of another.

mine is always at 96f to 111f but since my room is always cold I could not tell you how the temperature is in normal room temperature though I have used it in other places in warmer temperatures and it has gone to 126F max. Hope this helped

Yes I completely agree. They did that with the iPhone too. They leave out picture messaging and stuff then they come out with a new one with the 3.0 update and make a HUGE deal out of it.

It cost $129+ taxes to get the new battery replaced. I don't know where you're getting $500. The 17" is $179 so that isn't even clost to $500

They mean 1000 times before you see a slight decrease in performance so you could have this MacBook Pro for at least 7 years before you might have to change it.

This must be a mistake but can somebody double check this: visit the Apple UK website and try and order a 13" MacBook Pro. Look at the pricing of the 8GB memory upgrade; please state what it says. It says that it costs £880 for an 8GB upgrade, whereas the 4GB upgrade (2x2GB) costs £80

It will not come with SL.

SL will be out in September and if you get a new Mac now it'll only cost you $9.95 to update the OS.

It is 30 dollars to upgrade the OS for all leopard users unless you bought your Mac on/after 8 June. In that case it would be 9.95.

If you do not use leopard it would cost $129.

You can still upgrade the RAM yourself.

The Apple site details how to do this.

The 17 inch had had an unremovable battery since the last upgrade, and as lond as nothing is damaged you can remove the back cover and change the ram. The battery can only be changed by the apple store.

yep.. you def. can! I just did yesterday. All you need is a precision screw driver and I got and entire set for under $5 from walmart. Just unscrew the bottom cover, remove the old ram, put in the new one.. AND BAM! your mac is fast as lightning!
