I think it is flour though that forms bacteria and mold, not paper itself so much. Maybe using white glue diluted with water instead of flour mixture would work well?

i have a question, i am trying to make a paper mache couch . And the climate here is humid. so, if i make the paste out of flour, i am worried that fungus might grow on it and it may attract ants or flies.

@ishita2288 You should add 1 tablespoon of salt to the paper mache mix. This will deter fungus growth.

@Serg37TDS The sea salt should be quite ok. Put a fan on it to finish the drying. It should be ok. Be sure to paint it . THat will help deter mold growth. the printer paper should be ok.

@ishita2288 Also, give it a couple of coats of paint (a light color is best because molds and fungi grow in dark areas), and then put a few layers of laquer on it to seal it. That sucker will be fungus free. Good luck!
