@smartdon007 The VLC project removed all of the code for Shoutcast from VideoLAN Player (VLC) because it is proprietary, non-open source software, owned by AOL and Nullsoft (who made WinAmp, and is also owned by AOL). I think VLC does support Icecast still, its an open source alternative to Shoutcast developed by the Xiph.org Foundation.

for VLC media player 1.0.3 Goldeneye:

Media > Services Discovery > Shoutcast radio listing.

After enabling that go to View > Playlist. You should be able to see the Shoutcast radio listings option there. Select it then surf the channel of your interest.

i first figured out about shoutcast tv in winamp, and its MUCH more user friendly in that program, despite the program itself sucking much harder than vlc does. trying to get shoutcast to work in vlc (despite already knowing more than was said in this video) is a fucking crap shoot.
