  • I would have Close to the edge at no.1 but am a Yesfreak!!

Good to see that track right up there at no.2 though

  • LOL that dream theater song is Prog Metal Not Prog Rock

  • Xen Project; I agree: No Flower Kings? and where is ELP (Cést la Vie)

  • #14 has to be my #1 or #2

But with all the Kaipa, no Flower Kings?

  • Man, I love list!!! Perhaps I do not agree with some Pink Floyd songs and I would include some ELP, Magma, Caravan and Focus songs. Anyway good job!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I knew pink Floyd would be number one I just dident know what song

  • Alot of good stuff alot of garbage too!

  • Good Job but you missed ELP,Dream Theater (More Songs), Opeth, porcupine tree, Liquid Tension Experiment, Simphony X, and another bands

  • 3. Shine on your crazy diamond PINK FLOYD

    2. Tarkus ELP

    1. Awaken YES

  • The absence of the first album of U.K. seems absolutly dramatic...

  • try high tide man, my favourite prog/psichedelic rock band from uk! and also some albums from the incrdible italian progressive rock scenes! instead great band and songs here!

  • @valeguidilin High Tide are awesome.

  • l"isola di niente from pfm,in the first ten. like close to the edge from yes.

  • My tastes r like axactly the same as yours

  • Pull me Under? There are a lot more proggier songs on that album alone.

  • the top ten is almost perfect! but echoes on #1 spot? it kind of let me down....especially beating close to the edge, which is maybe the perfect progressive rock composition.

  • I'd put Starless #1 and Echoes #2, but anyway man you've got taste.

  • Btw, great choice for no.1 My favorite PF song

  • Är du svensk?/You Swedish? :)

  • I must admit to never really seeing Pink Floyd or Supertramp as Prog Rock. Nice selection though mate and thanks for sharing this. Really interesting to listen to and you have great taste in rock music of course! :-)

  • Hearing Gates Of Delirium should be a law.

  • Beautiful! You include most of the progressive anthems off all time. I would chang three or four pieces

  • Nice, Echoes is my favorite song too!

  • Does not matter am I agree with you or not (number 2 I agree. Number 1 for me is your number 14 :))... That is a great starting point for progressive music educational tour, congratulations!

  • Close to the edge, The greatest song I've ever heard

  • meddle ok , and all genesis , van der g..pink but the progressive power metal stratovarius must be in top 50 (elyssum)

  • GOOD JOB MAN.

  • Oh, and one more thing: I don't care what you're going to reply me, but Rush ISN'T Prog -___- It's fake prog. Well, personnally I think it ruins real progressive rock....

  • Comment removed

  • @Pouliot27 What the fuck man! Rush is one of the worlds best prog rock bands. If you don't beleive me, then search up the songs 2112, Farewell to kings, La villa strangiato, Cygnus X-1(both parts), Xanadu, and Bytor and the snowdog. Then, after you've listened to all of them, tell me what you think of rush.

  • Awesome list, honnestly. But no ELP? No Focus?? No HARMONIUM?!?!? NO MANEIGE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? But still, even with a top 1000, i don't think it's possible to do a list of the BEST progressives song. There are so many genre, so many bands, so many songs, so many GREAT songs!! But still, it IS a great list :)

  • KING CRIMSON gives a new meaning to KFC (King F*****g Crimson)

  • I would just change the order of some songs, but all in all... we have very similar tastes, and this is a great list !

  • a rather obvious no 1 choice. :) well done!

  • YES! echoes is my fave song! but you missed six degrees of inner turbulence by dream theater my 2nd fave. and no uriah heep! that band is awesome just listen pilgrim and july morning. and i think you should have included opeth in the list.

  • Air Born... woah, i never get tired of that song, and it ALWAYS manages to bring tears to my eyes, EVERY time i listen to it.

  • Very good list.

    My Camel fav. is "Ice"

Van der Graaf: "When she comes"

  • #1- HELL YES!!

  • Nice, but you forgot pocupine tree and flower kings

  • Where's "America" by The Nice? Good choice for #1 by the way!

  • La villa fucking strangiato and hemispheres...and man-erg...

  • just pink floyd.

  • Pretty good list, should have had more Rush and Roundabout by Yes. Overall though, great list.

  • 3 words for elveeye

    LA VILLA STRANGIATO

  • Comment removed

  • Dude, I mother f**king love that song, Rush is the best

  • @bankruptfilly Dude I totally agree with you La villa's insane, one of rush's toughest song's and one of their best.

  • @bankruptfilly i was just about to write its not enough rush in this list for sure. when tom sawyer kicked in the rest of the list got raped instantly

  • thoroughly enjoyed watching both parts of this countdown-was chuffed to see camel and mike oldfield included.

  • for all the King crimson songs you have, i'm a little surprised that you don't have "In The Wake Of Poseidon" on there. and Tom Sawyer's your favorite Rush song?? check out "Cygnus x-1" (and book II) by Rush if you haven't already heard it. Good list though Pink Floyd is my favorite!

  • van derr graff !!! yoo hoo!!!

  • great top 50, pink floyd are the greatest and there is no doubt about it,you should try some new bands, and also some new albums ;)

  • Good top ten we must be on the same beam as i have every one of these 50 albums bar three..not keen on floyd..yeah I know a die hard progger who hates floyd...I preferred Yes and Genesis

Saludos.

  • I was scared already thinking that you would forget ECHOES, and i would say strawberry fields forever from Beatles

  • Have ever heard ELP or PFM?

  • Glad you represented Selling England by the Pound a lot. Best Genesis lp imo.

And I love Echos that much too - though I might reverse your top two but who cares...

Throw in something from UK's first lp and Triumvirat's "double dimple" and I'm right with ya.

    Nice list.

  • What about Starship Trooper! I think it should at least be in the top 20

  • for sure echoes is the most psychedelic song ever made

  • @spirospnyts You haven't heard Piper at the Gates of Dawn, have you?

  • @MasterYumyums Off course i had its brilliant but the style is little bit different

  • @spirospnyts Sure, but Echoes is nowhere near psychedelic as just about any piece on that album. Or plenty of other albums from the mid-late 60's, when psychedelia was all the rage. Echoes does have psychedelic qualities, but you can't see the acid dripping from it like you can with Interstellar Overdrive, for instance.

  • Yes - gates of... No 1 for me !

  • Great list, but what about less Van Der Graaf Generator and more Rush ?

  • Not Bad but Supper's Ready should be at first place, it's just i think you cant get through that song fully, sorry :)

  • floyd is great but REALLY overated i agree echoes should be in the top ten but no CYGNUS x1 or cygnus x1 book 2 2112 or and tom sawyer is not prog

  • @zackjp Tom sawyer is more pop. Cygnus is the best Rush songs (both of them). I have everything from Pink Floyd (from 66-94) and for Rush i have all their old albums from 74-82. Xanadu is another one of my favs

  • I 100% agree.

    Echoes FTW!!!

    ftw...ftw...ftw...ftw...(end of echo)

  • very good list(and i agree with you that echoes should be no.1-especially the live version at pomoeii...),nice job mate...

  • "The Perfect Element" by Pain of Salvation is probably my favorite Progressive Rock song, yet not many people have heard of them. Actually, the entire album is astounding! But these songs are wonderful too, more than enough to keep me occupied for a while. It's better than the stagnant pop-culture music I hear on the radio with my sister all the time. Thanks!

  • I like your taste. I'm surprised that you don't mention Man Erg from Van der Graaf, i think is one of their best songs.

  • I don't think Echoes should have been 1... It's more like one of these:

    Time by Pink Floyd

    Epitaph by King Crimson

    Starship Troopers by Yes

    Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd

    Fallen Angel by King Crimson

One more Red Nightmare by King Crimson

  • Fantastic list. Though don't get me wrong, Echoes is awesome, but for number 1? That should have been more like Yes of King Crimson. They're like the definition of prog.

Also, come on, Karn Evil 9? Tarkus? Out of all those songs..........

  • Check my list on my account.

  • Pretty good lust, but a couple of things:

-WHERE IS ELP??????? TARKUS SHOULD BE IN TOP 10!

-DOGS AT 30? PERSONAL TOP 5

-ONLY DREAM THEATER SONG IS PULL ME UNDER? LISTEN TO HOME, METROPOLIS PART 1 AND OCTAVARIUM

-ONLY RUSH SONG IS TOM SAWYER? LISTEN TO CYGNUS X-1 BOOK I and II, 2112, AND LA VILLA STRANGIATO

-IF PROG METAL BANDS LIKE DT ARE INCLUDED, WHY THE FUCK IS THERE NO TOOL?

However... I AGREE 110% THAT ECHOeS IS #1! BEST SONG EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @metal4lifeddie fuck yes dogs should be at LEAST top five

and i totally agree about ECHOES. BEST SONG EVER!!

AND yes where is 2112 by Rush? probably most epic song!!

  • Tarkus and Karn Evil 9 had to be here. Great list anyway.

  • Excellent choice! And I loved the moments you picked from the tracks too! After you put Supper's Ready at #4, I thought - WHAT'S BETTER?!? But those other three are all fabulous too! Guessed Echoes would be at #1, although the "whale crying" in the middle does drag a bit, imho - lovely to hear Soon and Starless in your Top 10 too! Great choices!

  • Nice List, But I don't think it's fair to include "Thick as a Brick" as the whole album is one song... LOL

  • Dream Theater for ever =).

    There's some bands I didn't know ... Thx for that =p

  • Man I've been watching a lot a video of guys making their top 10-20-50, of their favorites songs, and seriously, I don't remember having see someone making a better top 50 as you. Great Taste !

When I saw the #50, I already knew that it was going to be an amazing list.

  • very great choices, thanks for your list!

  • Pull me under is hardly one of DTs better song, well at least included them!
