I tried saying to someone Khawy baw sabaii (I don't feel well) and he told me what I actually said was My cock isn't well. As in I have an STI. • thank you very much. i have been learning lao back in 1996 with a book and by listening to people speaking lao (on visits in Paris and by listening to the parents of my ex gf here in Germany). I did not take a long time learning the basics. I have a good phonetical ear so i can remember tones - not that i am really good though. Nowadays i speak thai very fluent and i think i know more thai than lao but i could still survive in laos, hehe

    khob jai laai

  • You are bi-lingual? You can speak two languages? That's so cool! I'm very proud of you. Have you vacation in Laos before? It's a nice place to rest and relax. But it's a poor country with few modern roads and freeways. Also, it's hard to find modern medical care in Laos. So don't break your bones while you're hiking in the misty mountains in Laos. Take precaution and never go alone.

  • you need to work on the audio. people will be able to understand you better.

    Du bist guut!! :-)

Selbst beim Englischsprechen hast du schon einen Lao Akzent! LOL!! =D

  • im lao and u dound good.....wow!!

  • when you say "jao ma teh sai" you have to remember to pronounce the "dtaw dtao" sound. sounds like a "d" and "t" put together not like only a "t" sound.

when you say "tao" like "tao dai" you must say it like "tao" not "taew." you're ok though. thanks for taking the effort out to teach people.

  • poppfan, goob job. I'm not lao neither but I know pasa lao too. cool man. pasa thai is cool too.

  • nice at pronounciation ! what made you interested in learning lao?

  • I'm a white guy who lives in a Laotian village in Louisiana, USA. I can understand pasa Lao, but I have problems pronounciating certain words and mixing up the pitches. I have gotten many laughs from friends by pronouncing "koi" and "mah" incorrectly.

  • Wow! I give a 7-10 on u'r pasa Lao.I'm Lao, and I admire those who wants to learn and speak many languages. I'm working on learning French, Spanish and Japanese. You don't happen to give lessons on these languages, do you?

Oh! and please don't laugh at my sign-on name. I just couldn't come up with any thing that wasn't taken, so i ended up with "bungme" lol...

  • thanks i am lao and i lost a little bit of my native tounge so thanks for the basics ^^

  • hahaha omg!!! i could actually understand what your saying!!! my dad is from thakhek and my mom was from pakse. hahaha thats so funny how an american could speak laos hahaha

  • thanx :-)

    pssst: I AM GERMAN 555

  • oohh yeah i looked on your page and you said you were from german..sorryy!!! so how did you learn how to speak laos?? im just natural in it because i was born in the lao culture...hehehe

  • I'm half Lao(and half Viet), but damn you put me to shame. Your Lao is very proper and you know more bigger words than me! props!

  • It is really embarassing that many of our own people is at fault. There are quite a few of us in America and I want nothing more than to see our people thrive. How can people take us seriously if even we can't get our labels right. Let's put this behind us as fast as possible so we can move forward.

    kon lao u amalica.

  • Secondly, my comment is directed to my fellow laotians who time and time again misuse words that describe us. There is no such thing as "Laos people." The word "Laos" is to ONLY describe our country. The term "Lao" is an adjective to describe such things as our language, writing, government, and our people. The term "Laotian" can be also used to describe our people. The language and people of Thailand aren't called "Thailand", but rather Thai.

  • Ok, first I want to compliment Poppfan for a great job. I think your accent is dead on and I really appreciate your uncommon interest in our language and I look forward to seeing more of your videos.

  • khob jai laai laai derrr :-)

khoy bor mack khan khon bah maa comment yuu nii loey dtae khoy bor hai man pen public - khoy si delete wai wai 555

  • huh mun vow ee yung? haha good lao

    Thumbs up, man.

  • my laos is bad nowadays. i used to speak it so much as a kid, but not so much anymore =] how did you become so interested in the lao language ?

my trip to laos was in Jun07 jaaa 10 wan :D

  • You are REALLY pretty eyes.

    i FUCKING LOVE YOU! [:

  • that is really good laotian

  • Largo, please make next video on writing/reading Lao script.

  • Also, Lao phrases!

  • You're amazing!!! Keep up the great work! I am sure you were born Laotian in your past life!

I love that you have a Vietiane accent! Sounds sweet!

  • Ow, buk kow nee keu hien vow gaeng teh.

    = P

Very respectable attempt. Your pronunciation is mint compared to some people I have heard. You are one of the first "kon kow" I have ever heard get the pitches correct. That is the main problem with most Westerners. Anyone with an Asian background can seem to learn it more easily, my Cantonese friend pronounced every word I taught him flawlessly.(he can't speak Lao though.)

  • not bad good job. i understand u more if u saaid it faster. other then that ur lao speaking skill is good.

  • That was real good. [=

  • wow i'm laos and you did really good!

  • jow wow lao gadae

  • did you use to live in laos?
