Studio Update- Squats

wow, it's great to see that others have squat armies too. i am trying to put together a squat 40k army also, and i have a couple of questions i would like to ask if i may. one is about plasticard , the other is putting on changeable guns with magnets . any help from your vast experiance of wisdom would be great.

Hey Shawn: I highly recommend you look into Railway Guns from ww1, Big guns that were built into a railcar. In WW1 every different army had a different gauge of howitzer style guns.

Also if BTP needs a higher quality camera, I'd gladly come shoot vids using my pro video cam and still cam. :D

Hey Shawn, the giant howitzers was more of a WW1 phenomenon. In WW2 the artillery was pretty much standardized.

There I traded you a little knowledge for some inspiration. :)

@Ichigo9913 They're a discontinued subrace of humnaoids from high gravity world (read: space dwarfs) by Games Workshop. They were characterised by heavy gear and tanks, much of which had to withstand the high radiation from their sun.

il never understand why GW dont release a squat army, there excuse is that a tyranid hive fleet wiped them out. Annoying as its a fact there always being asked to release them. They could look brilliant, slow moving footsoldiers wearing massive armour, Huge starship cannons mounted on tank tracks :) drool people ......drool.

on the gun bay, i think just the 3 shield emitters with some emitters on the walls would look better than 4 and it would give more narrative because the ships would have more room to be able to land.

@HaunterV lets see , hordes , warmachine, oh and heres a free game system thats growing and so much better FUBAR. and the game system that brought me back into miniture wargaming Shattered verse. but in the end you cant compair one game to another. though these are much better , more the last two than any other , they care for their comunity and they are the type of games i will support.

@toothythekid , and my opionion also has many supporters, like the high amount of people who leave gw as soon as they find their are other minture wargames out their. the reason so many share your view , is they havent gotten a chance to play a non competitive wargame, one that is based more on narrative than anything else. i bet you if they got a chance to , they would leave games workshops games as well. so that is why more share your view point .

@HaunterV its already happening, u dont know how many people have left the game all together. and perhaps it will stay, but since it is a competitve based game it will become smaller and smaller of a group that will play gws games. no new people will come in since the game is over priced as hell. their rules havent changed much at all from their other editions, and their are newer games coming out that really are so much better hence that is what will happen ;).

I'm guessing Squats in Exo-Armour for the Terminators?

Not sure what to make of the Treekin conversion, it looks a little bit gangly and mutant at the moment.

As for the spaceship bay, I think the little nubs should go on the walls as field projectors. The whole piece seems to be shaping up very well.

is imperial guard the most expensive army to collect in terms of price of models in dollars, tanks in particular. I guess what I'm saying is imperial guard the worst dollars to effectiveness ratio?

@TheUndert0ker depends on how many points you want the army to be. chimeras are 35 and leman russ are 50. valks are 60. a squad of guys is 25. so yes either way you go, mech or infantry... or even both can be extremely pricy

@TheUndert0ker Horde armies are obviously more expensive than small elite armies. GW does not distinguish between armies in terms of pricing, so you're paying the same for a Space Marine as you would for a Guardsman. IG is pretty expensive, but so are Orks and other armies wher you incluse tons of infantry. And just count yourelf lucky you're only playing 40K; once you get into WFB you'll really start to bring the pain to your wallet.

@topperdepop Cool that's pretty much what I was thinking. I'm actually getting back into the hobby but this time I'm going to play warhammer fantasy instead. I already have an OLD army of space marines...plastic beakies from the 1st generation of citadel minis, which are fine for 40k games without having to purchase anything new.
