In my book, finding that pot was grounds for beating all of them senseless with my baton. I would have reported the busted heads, broken teeth, and broken jaw as the result of them resisting arrest.

I said "about 65" He said "i got u at 63, slow down and stay safe." That was it, no ticket and a hand shake. (I did stop n waited for him)

@Roushfan5 No longer true. Read Arizona v. Gant. The Supreme Court ruled that arrests can only lead to a search if there is more evidence to be gained in the arrest only. Therefore it would be a hard stretch to prove that it benefited to search a car for a simple speeding offense.

If you drove that far without stopping, the cop would arrest you for resisting arrest.
I'd like to point out if he could arrest him for speeding he'd have probable cause to search the car anyway.

@Roushfan5 No longer true. Read Arizona v. Gant. The Supreme Court ruled that arrests can only lead to a search if there is more evidence to be gained in the arrest only. Therefore it would be a hard stretch to prove that it benefited to search a car for a simple speeding offense.

@bart40330 The problem is, the officer is responsible for your vehicle if he arrest you for a driving suspened, no ID (driving) etc... Therefore he/she is mandated to do an inventory search so the tow truck driver does not rip you off. In the event the police/goverment locate contraband, well you do the math.

@bart40330 True, but once your arrested the officer can legally impound your car. By impounding your car he can conduct an inventory of all contents in the vehicle and any illegal contraband that he discovers can be charged against you.

@TheJumpingcow The search was legal because the cop tricked them with a double question. Listen closely when the police officer says ""You don't have any drugs in here? You don't mind if I take a look, do ya?"
When the driver answers "No", was he answering No to the "You don't have any drugs in here?" or No to "You don't mind if I take a look, do ya?" The cop loaded 2 questions quickly in one sentence. If the driver consents to the search, then it is legal.

The simplest way to solve this problem is to not smoke weed in the first place.
