Good overall video but I'm constantly puzzled by the number of pistol reviewers that habitually place their hands in front of the muzzle when handling a firearm. It doesn't matter how carefully you have checked if a round is chambered- you must always consider the firearm as having a chambered live round. Bottom line- never point the muzzle of a firearm anywhere you do not intend to shoot.
@alenworn Very good piont there. The .357 sig round is greatly under used. Being able to shoot .40 ans .357 sig and keep the same mags is an awesome value. Have fun with your new Sig my friend.
i just got one today, paid $329 for it, its a .40 S&W; I could not believe you can get a Sig for that low of a price, looks like my USP. I am wondering why do I need another black polymer gun? but for the price WTF you have to get one
Damn, nice shooting! I have a SP2022 on the way; hopefully it shoots as good as yours. As for the replacement guide rod, I'm going to contend that it's not necessary. After all, Glocks have always had plastic guide rods, and they are incredibly reliable/durable.
But I guess it adds some extra peace of mind and confidence in your gun. And +2 for supporting American small business!
@stagadelic53 Thanks for watching and the compliment. And you are right as far as durablity the polymer guide rods dont have many problems. I mainly prefer steel for the weight. BTW have you recieved your new Sig yet? Have a good one.
The "nobody would agree to get shot by a 9mm" statement is not a valid argument that a round is powerful enough is not valid. Shot placement is just as important as stopping power. I prefer to be proficient in a more powerful caliber, so that I am accurate and have the stopping power.
Love the video! I've heard alot about this gun. I watched the nutnfancy video on it as well. I think the p2022 will have to be my first sig just becasue the price. I'm a young man who is starting out a family and just graduated college. I have many guns in my personal collection but this gun will help me add a sig to the collection withought braking the bank!
@FutureFederalAgent I totally agree with you. Sig has been including one mag with all of ther guns I think starting about 3 years ago. That really pissed me off too. The funny thing is in some areas I have heard of people getting 2 mags. But I did not. Thanks for watching and the response
i got one in the 40c yesterday and im having issues. the trigger isnt automatically resetting with a slight release of the trigger, it tends to take you fully removing your finger for it to reset, sometimes even manually. but ive only put two mags through it before work today (24rds) and since then ive stripped it down, oiled it up especially the trigger mech. in the morning im going to dump 90 or so more rounds and see if any changes. anyone got any advice otherwise?
Great Vid! I'm a Sig-a-holic and hated the P250. It just didn't feel like a Sig. I"ll definitely give one of these a go! Quick question...was your grouping shot on a rest or off hand. In either case, it's a great group, but I was just curious.
@12GaugePadawan Thanks for watching and the compliment! I'm not a fan of the P250 either. Sig realized it's not for the american market so i think that's why they brought the Sig Pro back. I do all of my shooting Off hand. But I think the gun is making me look good there.
Goddamn, this is what I wanted originally when looking for a 9mm, but even with the smallest back part I felt it was big for my hands. Didn´t got it, got a S&W 908s instead, and obviously not comfortable with the choice I made. This is one heck of a good gun, great design.
Great review! I havent owned a Sig yet, but I was wondering how comfortable it was for concealed carry if there is no holsters available. I am selling my LC9 (great concealment) and looking for something that fits my hand better.Best review on this weapon I have seen btw!
Great breakdown review of the SP2022. I actually acquired the 9mm version of this gun from my father, who tells me that IF I ever want to get rid of it that I have to sell it back to him. But I have fired many handguns in my lifetime and the SP2022 by far outshines any other pistol. I am actually considering investing in the .40 of the same gun.
I've been researching on the SP2022 here on Youtube for quite a few weeks now and your positive endorsement of the pistol sold me on it. I decided to wait until after Thanksgiving to take advantage of the deals that my local FFL ran and bought a 40cal with night sights and got an extra magazine for a pretty good deal. Thanks for a great review and I look forward to see you shooting it on your next video.
@oh10yo4head- thank you, I'm gonna go ahead and order the SS guide rod from Steve. Also I'll check into those personal defense ammo. You have used those in your sig pro? I just want to make sure It doesn't have a problem loading because I've seen some people say they had jams because the hollow point was getting stuck trying to load. But I'm gonna write those down and give them a try. Thank you for your help
Bought the same gun today, paid $399 brand new from cabelas..can't wait to put some rounds through it...very good video man, love the clear safety check in the beginning
Gotta question? First off let me say you did a great job on reviewing this pistol. Second I wanted to ask you if replacing the guide rod with the stainless steel one makes the gun have better accuracy in your opinion? I have this gun I just got back in October chambered in .40 S&W and I LOVE IT!! I will never sell this gun, and I know Steve bedair makes great guide rods he's from Texas as am I. Also wanted to see what kind of good self defense ammo you recommend? Thank you
@RoadHardOffRoad Thank you for watching my vid. Personally I feel the added weight of the steel guide rod really helps with follow up accuracy, expacially with some of your more powerful self-defense and +P loads. As far as self defense ammo I am a huge fan of Speer Gold Dot. I have used it in 9mm, 40S&W and 45acp and i have never once had a failure. And for a self defense round it has a smooth kick and low flash. I also like Hornandy Critical Defense.
@Oh10yo4head Hey Oh10yohead. I was looking at the 2022 a few months ago when I when I was looking at getting my first pistol. The guys at the counter were down on the gun mainly it seemed because they thought it was "poor mans sig" or "cheap". Not knowing to much about the pistol at the time it scared me away from it. Now I feel like I didn't give the pistol a chance. Have you run into this opinion from so called "experts" and why do you think that is?
Great video. I'm just getting into firearms and doing some research on getting a pistol for home defense (just moved to a high crime rate city). In my search for a home defense weapon, the sp2022 is the one I've chosen to get.
Could you tell me how to go about purchasing one. I went to Sig's website but I couldn't figure out how to purchase one and all the dealers in this location don't have the sp2022.
@braddnichols Thanks for watching. You are about to make a fine choice in firearms. There are several online retailers that have the sp2022 avaliable. Check out budsgunshop or impactguns. Buying from them is very easy. They ship your gun to the gun shop of your choice you pay the transfer fee (wich is usually a lot cheeper then the sales tax) and you go home easy as that. I have never had a problem with either site. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any more questions.
Just like mrtrem below me said the sights are waaaay off and the cheapest tool I have found was 120.00 bucks really sucks being that my lazier will no longer allow the gun to fot my holster ... Just suck period other then the sights the gun has never jamed yet out of 400 cheap rounds of winchester 9mm
@yknid9608 All Sig Pro's us conventional rifiling. As far as the twist rate a friend of mine once quoated it to be 1:16. But I have never found this in writing. So I'm not totally sure how accurate that is.
I got my 2022 a month ago, shot it 2 different times, 100rds each time. All my shots are WAY Low and to the right. I have to aim at left shoulder to hit center. Anybody else have this problem ? Im thinking of sending it back.
( I do have other handguns and have no problem hitting where I aim)
@mrtrem Sorry to hear about your trouble. I have not heard of this problem. I'm sorry to say that I think you got a lemon. I hope Sig Customer service takes care of you.
@mrtrem Hi, It might be because you relax your hand too early. Maybe because the you squeeze your whole hand instead of just the finger. I was doing that to until my gunsmith told me about it. The SA squeeze got a little lag to it so it could be the reason, tried to dry fire it with a snap cap then go back to range. Good Luck.
@MegaTxDude Thanks for the advise, I will try it and let you know..Today Im going to the range with a friend. Hes going to shoot it and let me know his opinion.
Great video I just purchased this Sig today at a gun show for $465. Can't wait to head out to the range or my co-workers ranch to try it out then plan on using it to get my CHL.
Great video! I picked up one today, I respect polymer handguns-glocks, springfield xd. Have you ever heard of the polymer guide rod failing? should I replace it with a steel guide rod?
@campcarroll69 Thanks for watching my vid! Now I have heard of a few polymer guide rods failing but it is a very rare occureance. Personally when it comes to self defense I like to remove as many possible faliures as possible and that is why I a major reason why I prefer SS guide rods. Thanks again for watching.
how does the decocker work? does it stay in SA if you do not decock it....even after the first shot? i noticed in another video that once you decock it it stays in DA after the first round fired. the usp i shot was DA/SA also but after the first shot it went to SA from DA. is the the p2022 like the usp in that it's initial round is DA after being decocked and then fire in SA after the initial round? does this make sense? sorry, i'm new to using DA/SA firearms.
@afaye8 Hey there very good question and I should have mentioned that in my review. Well on a standard Sig Pro once you use the decocker the first round will be fired DA but each following round will be SA. How ever you can purchase a DA only kit for the Sig Pro and there are a few DA only Sig Pros on the market. Now with this kit It will always fire DA even if decocked.
I picked one up on Gunbroker for $275. It has been a flawless tack driver ever since. I usually just use it for practice because my every day carry is my Glock 20 with a SP101 or Sig P238 backup.
@jeremyfl Well you can go wrong with with anyone of the three, but i'll give you two answers. For value the Sig Pro win hands down. It is a whole lot of gun for the money. But if money isin't an issue I like the Walther P99. In my opion it has a very similar feel to the much pricer H&K P30 which is a damn fine gun. I have put a few hundred rounds through a friends Walther P99 in .40S&W and I really liked it.
@MrBharrington Personally I really like the Bianchi Ranger Holster for OWB. I have been meaning to do a review of it. It has an active retention setup that takes a little while to get use to but once you master it is a very effective holster. The Sig Pro uses a size 11B in this holster. I'll try and have my holster review up in a few days.
I have been going back and forth for quite some time on my next purchase, and Ive narrowed it down to the Sig Pro, Sig239 and MAYBE an XD in .45... I love the affordability of the Sig Pro and the XD can be found reasonable as well... My only issue is with carry, I want something comfortable, functional and concealable at the same time.
Again, great vid, and thanks for the "food for thought"
@Coldshot1977 Hey there, thanks for watching!! If you are looking for a pistol that is more versital I would say go with the XD or the Sig 239. I love the Sig Pro, it is a great range and home defense pistol but it is just too damn "chuncky" for a ccw. I have tried to carry it concealed a few times but it is not very comfortable. Maybe if someone Kholster or Theis holsters could make a holster for the Sig Pro it could help things. Thanks again for watching
@Oh10yo4head You're very welcome. I recently borrowed a fellow gun freak friends P239 and carried it for a couple of days just to get the feel of the gun... wasn't bad at all. But I was visiting a local shop this past weekend and checked out the H&K compact USP... It felt amazing in hand and was very concealable. My only gripes are trigger guard mag release and price LOL.
you are absolutely right, the sig pro series pistols(sp 2022, sp 2009, sp 2340)dont get the credit they deserve....they have sigs well known high quality, but theyre very affordable. great vid
Thanks so much for that review! Not only was it informational, but I enjoyed it. Talking points covered many of the questions I had. And the accuracy..OOHH! I've been searching high and low for my next polymer 9mm, and this looks to be it! Thanks again.
Definately underated. When I went to pick up my SR40 from my FFL last winter I fondled one of these and I fell in love. Love the trigger, sight picture and purchase.
I ran across an issue though researching this, the stainless version shows up in their 2011 catalog but with almost nill availability. Saw a few of em on GB & GA but only chambered in 9mm.
I remember reading somewhere that the blue boxes were "civilian" and the black ones were mil surplus from the contracts you mentioned.
@mintyfresh001 I'm glad you found my review helpful. And as you mentioned at $400 this is an awesome value compared to the glock at the moment. I hope you enjoy the Sig Pro as much as I do. Thanks again!
Thank you for making this video, I was deciding between this pistol and a glock 17. I don't like to dress my gun up so I don't care about the limited accessories. I am a huge fan of the USP so I'm definitely getting this one.
@MegaTxDude Thanks for watching, and you can't go wrong with either one but if you love the USP you will totally fall for the Sig Pro. I still cant believe that Sig discontinued this gun in the first place. I am so glad that they put it back in production. And since they have i'm sure if you do decied to dress your gun up in the future the accessries will be there. Thanks again.
Awesome bids! I'm picking my 2022 up in a few days. Thanks for the tip on the stainless steel guide rod, I just ordered a checkered one from guiderod.com.
@UH8ME Thanks for watching. I hope you have as much of a performance increase as i did with the new guide rod. And the checkered ones just look damn cool. Have fun.
@Oh10yo4head Ok so I sent my gun sig they replaced my barrel and changed my front sight from a 6 to a 8 I can shoot 25 yard just fine now lol got it back within a week great customer service no charge...it was made in exeter, NH
@SINBAD396 You have great taste in firearms sir. Also I really enjoyed your vids. Please let me know if you do any more vids on the FNH 45 tatical. It seems like an awesome gun i have been thinking about picking one up myself.
@Oh10yo4head I have a demo shoot with the FN rep sometime in the next few weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to do a video on not just the 45 Tac, but some of the other fine products offered by FN. Thanks!
Great review! Bought this gun a few weeks ago and finally took it to the range today. The trigger is great after I got used to it. At first I was pulling everything to the left. (Like my golf swing) Once I adjusted my grip and lengthen my trigger finger, I was hitting the target right sown the middle. Thanks for the review! One of the reasons for my purchase. I am also going to replace the guide rod.
@justjohn469 Thank you for the very kind words. I too very much enjoy the trigger on the Sig Pro. And you cant go wrong with the steel guide rod. Personally i can tell a siginifant increase in follow up accuracy using it. Thanks a gain for watching my vid!
@recoilsnpr Sorry to hear that I hope they get that corrected for you in a timely mannor. Btw Where was your sig pro made? I wonder if there is any diffirence in quality between the german vs the american made models.
@350dolladee If you go to the web site topgunsupply you can find Sig oem polymer guide rods. They run a round $10. I have done a bit of business with them and they always have had great customer service. Hope that helps
Just picked mine up and already have tue viridian c5l laser/flashlight on it.. Going out to the range this weekend to put a couple hundred rounds thru her and sight the laser in.. After owning a hk usp compact for over 10 years I'm finding myself very fond of this sig also..
just purchased this weapon and it is easily the most underated pistol ever!!! the trigger on it is awesome! i just purchased a laser that mounts on the piccatinny rail for this weapon for 30 bucks so dont buy the crimson trace yet i will put a couple hundred rounds through the pistol with it mounted on and let you know how i do... nice vid and i appreciate your support for america!!!
@MrBharrington Hey there, Thank you for watching my vid. I'm glad you also enjoy the Sig Pro, It's a shame such a fine weapon has flown under the radar for so many years. I also look foward to your report on the laser sight. Thanks again
@MrBharrington I usually get my mags from midwayusa they usually have them in stock twice a month from what I can tell. Mags are still a little hard to find and like typical Sig mags they are expensive. I can also find them on topgunsupply also.
just bought one today can't wait to pick it up

@afaye8 Hey there very good question and I should have mentioned that in my review. Well on a standard Sig Pro once you use the decocker the first round will be fired DA but each following round will be SA. How ever you can purchase a DA only kit for the Sig Pro and there are a few DA only Sig Pros on the market. Now with this kit It will always fire DA even if decocked.
Oh10yo4head 4 months ago
@afaye8 all DA SA action firearms function pretty much the same way. double then single

Great demo. And info. I am glad Academy Sports recommend it. I bought 2 for my family.

I picked one up on Gunbroker for $275. It has been a flawless tack driver ever since. I usually just use it for practice because my every day carry is my Glock 20 with a SP101 or Sig P238 backup.

This weapon comes in .357 Sig too.

If you had to choose between the sp2022, walther p99, or Springfield xd9 which would you go for?
jeremyfl 5 months ago
@jeremyfl Well you can go wrong with with anyone of the three, but i'll give you two answers. For value the Sig Pro win hands down. It is a whole lot of gun for the money. But if money isin't an issue I like the Walther P99. In my opion it has a very similar feel to the much pricer H&K P30 which is a damn fine gun. I have put a few hundred rounds through a friends Walther P99 in .40S&W and I really liked it.

anybody know of any sig pro OWB holsters?
MrBharrington 5 months ago
@MrBharrington Personally I really like the Bianchi Ranger Holster for OWB. I have been meaning to do a review of it. It has an active retention setup that takes a little while to get use to but once you master it is a very effective holster. The Sig Pro uses a size 11B in this holster. I'll try and have my holster review up in a few days.

First of all, good vid and great shooting.
Coldshot1977 5 months ago
@Coldshot1977 Hey there, thanks for watching!! If you are looking for a pistol that is more versital I would say go with the XD or the Sig 239. I love the Sig Pro, it is a great range and home defense pistol but it is just too damn "chuncky" for a ccw. I have tried to carry it concealed a few times but it is not very comfortable. Maybe if someone Kholster or Theis holsters could make a holster for the Sig Pro it could help things. Thanks again for watching
Oh10yo4head 5 months ago
@Oh10yo4head You're very welcome. I recently borrowed a fellow gun freak friends P239 and carried it for a couple of days just to get the feel of the gun... wasn't bad at all. But I was visiting a local shop this past weekend and checked out the H&K compact USP... It felt amazing in hand and was very concealable. My only gripes are trigger guard mag release and price LOL.
Coldshot1977 1 month ago
you are absolutely right, the sig pro series pistols(sp 2022, sp 2009, sp 2340)dont get the credit they deserve....they have sigs well known high quality, but theyre very affordable.

Great review I picked up my Sig sp2022 today. Love the gun feels great in the hand and even better value.
primetime2488 6 months ago
Quick question. What gun do you recommend for strictly range shooting, the p2022 or the ruger sr9c? This will be my first purchase of a firearm.
spree2k3 6 months ago
Thanks for the review. This pistol is a steal. Glocks are going for $550 now and at $400. Wow! And its made in USA. Like you said that's big plus.
mintyfresh001 6 months ago
@mintyfresh001 I'm glad you found my review helpful. And as you mentioned at $400 this is an awesome value compared to the glock at the moment. I hope you enjoy the Sig Pro as much as I do. Thanks again!
Oh10yo4head 6 months ago
Thank you for making this video, I was deciding between this pistol and a glock 17. I don't like to dress my gun up so I don't care about the limited accessories. I am a huge fan of the USP so I'm definitely getting this one.
MegaTxDude 6 months ago
@MegaTxDude Thanks for watching, and you can't go wrong with either one but if you love the USP you will totally fall for the Sig Pro. I still cant believe that Sig discontinued this gun in the first place. I am so glad that they put it back in production. And since they have i'm sure if you do decied to dress your gun up in the future the accessries will be there. Thanks again.

@UH8ME Thanks for watching. I hope you have as much of a performance increase as i did with the new guide rod. And the checkered ones just look damn cool. Have fun.

I am also going to replace the guide rod.
justjohn469 7 months ago
@justjohn469 Thank you for the very kind words. I too very much enjoy the trigger on the Sig Pro. And you cant go wrong with the steel guide rod. Personally i can tell a siginifant increase in follow up accuracy using it. Thanks a gain for watching my vid!

@SFLconstrictors hey let me know how your sig pro shoots please....
recoilsnpr 7 months ago
Nice!! I just purchased my Sig sp2022 .40. Did they discontinue this Sig model? Or are they still producing these guns?
SFLConstrictors 7 months ago
Sending in my sig it shoots super low I'm aiming 25 yards out and bullet hits the ground at about 10 yards away from point of aim....
recoilsnpr 7 months ago
@recoilsnpr Sorry to hear that I hope they get that corrected for you in a timely mannor. Btw Where was your sig pro made? I wonder if there is any diffirence in quality between the german vs the american made models.

350dolladee 8 months ago
@350dolladee If you go to the web site topgunsupply you can find Sig oem polymer guide rods. They run a round $10. I have done a bit of business with them and they always have had great customer service. Hope that helps

Just picked mine up and already have tue viridian c5l laser/flashlight on it.. Going out to the range this weekend to put a couple hundred rounds thru her and sight the laser in.. After owning a hk usp compact for over 10 years I'm finding myself very fond of this sig also..
350dolladee 8 months ago

@Oh10yo4head where do you buy your sp2022 mags from?
MrBharrington 7 months ago
@MrBharrington I usually get my mags from midwayusa they usually have them in stock twice a month from what I can tell. Mags are still a little hard to find and like typical Sig mags they are expensive. I can also find them on topgunsupply also.
