  • try both new spark plugs and cleaning both carbs?

  • @dreadhead12345678 I jetted it waaaay up. Problems' fixed yay!

  • Where do you buy jets at?

  • @diesel5355Try Chapparal Motorsports they sell jets real cheap. Look it up. I have gained much motorcycle knowledge since I made this video so if you have any questions ask.

  • @VinnyMartello How many sizes up do you think i should go if I added EMGO pods and haven't modified the exhaust?

  • @diesel5355 If they are high flow pods like K&N... I would say start of with a 130 main and a 32.5 pilot. That just might do the trick. I'm not sure of the overall quality of Emgo filters. But give that a try and buy a size or two bigger. Believe me when I say you never get it right on the first try.

  • W/needle @stock, it was MUCH better. Still breaking up on top end a little. Took main jet down from 155 to 150. That may do it. Have to do a wide open throttle run and read the plugs. I also have aftermarket exhaust, a 2 into1 pipe w/fiberglass baffle.

  • @AlphaDogChoppers Sweet! Keep me informed!

  • @AlphaDogChoppers I recently rejetted my Suzuki. I'm currently running a 50 pilot and a 147 main. The plugs are slightly carbon fouled, it runs nice and cool, and it has gained some low end torque. But I have a glass pack dual exhaust so it might be less restrictive than yours but I cant say for sure.

  • Thanks, Vinnie. I synced my carbs. Still didn't help. I put the needle back to stock,

  • may be too late but your main jet is too big id try 5 sizes smaller and see if its any better. check the spark plug end. it should be a caramel colour, yellowy gold not black.

  • @DoPe993

Actually, I made the jets loads bigger and now it will do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds.

  • @VinnyMartello What did you end up with as jetting? I have an '81. I reamed out the original jets with a tapered needle file to approximate a 145 jet. I ran great, but was still lean. I recently installed a 155 and raised the needle. Now it runs like crap with a stumble off idle, and breaks up at full throttle. Sounds great when you just rev the bike in neutral. I haven't figured out whether it's too rich, or too lean.

  • @AlphaDogChoppers

If I remember correctly, it has stock needle setting and a 42.5 pilot jet and a 142.5 or a 145 main jet. Don't forget I also have hi-flow mufflers on my bike. But now, it runs as good as any new bike. It has the throttle response of a bike with fuel injection!

  • pipes sound pretty good on it, almost sound like my 300

  • very well nice to hear it works.and ou got the carbs pretty cheap too.lets hope it all comes together in a while .

  • ok sounds good, what terms did you do to fix the problemcause if you took it up in needle size and it was leanthen it sounds like a blockage somewhere in the carbs

  • @transdetendal There was no blockage, it has brand new Mikuni needle valves (90 bucks a pair!!!) and the carbs was dipped in nasty stuff and then flushed out. It was way out of sync and way too lean. I bigged up the jets quite a bit and now it runs pretty good. It has the same issue still, but it has been GREATLY reduced. It can pull 2 grown men up a very steep hill like nothing.

  • sounds like its got too rich mix try the needle in the slide and set t two notches down , if you cant then its too big in the ones you changed or the air ones too small , got to change them too in pairs .if not then the float may hang a bit .you are welcome to ask back. im not much for suzuki s but if yours ran this long its probably not as shitty as most ha ha.see yea

  • @transdetendal

Actually I about fixed the problem. I read the plugs and it was way too lean. I got her running fairly well now. Its not perfect, but it did sit for 15 years so it needs a little love.

  • had an 81 450t years ago. my 1st bike. anyway mine did this one year only a little worse than yours and the mechanic said something about the floats sticking in the carb. just needed to be cleaned up.

  • @wesclymer

I rebuilt the carbs. I found out that I had mixed jets and the fuel mixture was off!

  • I hope you get this fixed, the old gs bikes are great!

  • it might me an ignition problem

  • @hondaracer445

I understand that, but I have enough nerve damage to tell you that the ignition system functions pretty well. It shoots out big purple arcs when in contact with a ground.
