  • Wow I'd forgotten about this tune

  • Omar and Mica Genius collaboration! Seriously one of the greatest tunes of all time.

  • what a tune ? hands up if u have this on record

  • This brings back fond memories of my youth.

  • What a bad bassline

  • Sends serious tingles down my spine. love it!

  • This cut and "Carefree" are my all time favorites. I met her back in '95 and she told me that Maxwell covered this in one of his concerts!

  • Luv this!! Raphael Saddiq produced this track for her...so dope...that voice!!

  • @MUARFA

    Raphael who??!

    This was produced by Omar

  • @MUARFA oops perhaps I've gotten the track wrong but he either wrote or produced a track on her 'Black Angel' record but thanks :)

  • @MUARFA

    Totally wrong.

  • @PrAnG2000 thanks PrAnG2000 I'll be sure to reach out if ever I need any info on any other artist in the future :)

  • Love this track

  • big track really...

  • what an incredible voice. Just watched her on Come Dine With Me lol

  • TRULEY one of Mica's BEST tracks of all time. I've been a fan of her's since 1988 and hated to see that her AMAZING voice sledom found song writers who could marry a compatible song to her OUTSTANDING vocal skills. "Shoud Have Known Better" is one of those rare tracks that can keep up with Mica's skills.

  • This is an awesome song! I remember Mica Paris! She is definitely an amazing talent and I hate that her career didn't take off in the US as it did in the UK!!! Good soul music at its best!!!

  • Mint Tune!!!Play it loud people!!!

  • One of the most underrated voices of the last twenty years!

  • what a track! Mica Paris you is hot girl!

  • Stepper's cut... Women [in the Windy City] are ALWAYS looking for a track where we can bring da sexy & he can show off some serious footwork... =]

    IMOA

produced by 1 of the greatest British soulboys

  • tune tune tune

  • one of my faves

  • Absolute classic.

  • proper tings

  • Classic!!

  • This track was/is hot. I hear Omars influence. So soulful. Can't find this kind of soul and funk in todays music. Legends!

  • They really should have made another tune together. I wonder why they didn't? Anyway, it's that London 'thang' again. Love it.

  • Love it!!

  • A BIG PEOPLE CHOON THIS... WATCH THE FLOOR WHEN THIS DROPS AT A HOUSE PARTY...STRICTLY FOR THE CONNOISSEURS AND LOVERS OF QUALITY MUSIC, NOT JUST SOUL BUT QUALITY MUSIC...thank you

  • I have the European and US release of Black Angel and it's on neither... Is there another release of Black Angel?

  • @MuzicIsMiLyfe I believe this track was a b-side to another song but I can't rember which. Can you believe it? a b-side?

  • baaaad tune

  • When music still had Soul...I can never get tired of this song.

  • Lordy, Mica just takes me back to retro cool, wanna close my eyes and forget about all the needless nonsense going on in the world at the moment, like the sister said, 'give a little love'.

    Supa dupa post.

  • This was the reigning choon back in the day and it is still crisp and fresh!

  • In a word, and with the most possible emphasis, hand motion, and eye contact "TUNE!"

  • Hearing this for the very first time, AWESOME!

  • where the heck i been i guess sleep... i love mica paris. wow

  • brings back memories of the 90's damn thats when rnb/ soul music was at its greatest

  • Stone cold classic.

  • @Cratediggers damn right it is. Took me right back

  • simply fantastic .... looking to buy Black Angel Album....Re release Mica...Show em how it is done......I'm loving it:)

  • top 5 tune ever....................

  • YESSSSSSS!

  • Pure British soul- the type of music that should be recognised & embraced MORE OFTEN!

  • Thanks to Groove Armada's "Back To Mine" album, would never have heard this song! I loooove discovering good music...

  • Got this on 12" b-side of South of the River, along with another killa Where are the Children. this will never leave my vinyl collection. Don't nobody want none of Mica!!!! i'm not a fan of Mica's pop/folky stuff but put MIca on anything soulful and she can't be touched. i wish she were more popular.

  • Thanks for the upload sweet heart got the raving tone right. i agree with greenmokey if not Alexander Burke in keeping with the best of British

  • Thanks for the upload so fitting after listening to Junior G. Iam now 38 and remeber bubbling to this early hours a morning..... TUNE

  • Love the up load peeps.... fitting after Junior G, early monrning rave thank heavens for the memories, I am 38 and remember raving to this when i was in my mid twenties.............................tune!!

  • never will forget this tune!!!!!!

  • Pure sex!

  • this is definitely Mica's signature choon! Always has been and Omar is equally part of this as well since he produced it as well.

  • I watched this beauty in toronto, canada live and man, she's so good

  • @colcee1972 - YES!! Same here, love this Mica track - pure quality. When this was released, it used to get BLASTED out of people's windows!!

I also adore 'Where is the Love' (with Will Downing) and 'You can make a wish'.

  • this has been my fav tune since she performed it on dance energy wit omar back in the 90s- Mica's best track ever!!

  • Is her parents originally from Jamaica?.

  • wicked! xxx

  • This is class! Also see the live version she did at Southport last year (search for someone called "clivestarr" if you havent' seen it already). She was having such a good time and it showed in her face and her voice! Excellent, UK talent!

  • funky & dope as fuck!!! mIca paris rocks!!!!

  • As Dj Hollywood used to say... BASSLINE!!!

  • I've just posted Mica's b-side "Where Are The Children on my channel, check it out!

  • Top tune from our best vocalist. And shes gorgeous.

  • Didn't know this girl had the pipes til I heard her on this awesome track. Sing it Woman!!!

  • Just played it 8 Times... Nuff Said!

  • @DjDickDastardley Not trying hard enough lol

  • DIVA!!!

  • An amazing tune that reminds me of summertime in London back in the early 90's plus Mica has got legs to die for. Whats not to love

  • omgoodness....bassline????

  • Absolute classic..

    deep..

  • personally for me Mica's best output was via those b.sides. the b sides from the contribution & whisper a pray era are priceless gems every Mica fan should have.

  • like funkyswede said, a lot of Micas' b sides still havenot made it too album release shame really, and the fact that they at first didnt like this song was admitted by Omar himself in an interview back in early 90,s. It was the raregroove crowd that made it surge by popular demand years before it was put on the Black Angel album. testament to good music cant be stopped!!! top choon!!!

  • this is SOOOO HOT!!!

  • I think Mica's b-side have all been so great, and too bad some of them never found their way on to any of her albums really.

  • and to think this was a B side single that they both didnt like.......One of the baddest B lines ever xx

  • Where did that info come from, I never heard that they didn't like the song. This is one of my fav Mica songs. Rolling drums & bad ass bass and she delivers a faultless vocal. What's not to like, it's sublime? :-O

  • simply class.....

  • Love this song - you don't really hear mellow music like this anymore- It might calm down some of these crazy youngsters out there.

  • I remember when Prince called her out at one of his performances in it think in the 90's. Her voice is powerfully flawless!!

  • Bad arse tune - seriously should be re-released.

Omar and that bass - perfect combo

  • @greenmokey I gotta get some of Omar's music. It's a bit difficult to find, though!

  • @MzMeanE

Where do you live - us/uk?

Just go HMV - I have most of his albums - weren't hard to find - try spotify or itunes as well.

My fav album of his is Best By Far - simply a classic piece of art - refined.

  • @greenmokey I have the "misfortune" of living in the US where good music and "taste" is oftentimes lacking...I will definitely hunt it down!

  • mica paris at best.

  • I have loved Mica from the first album with "My One Temptation". Her problem is the US doesn't know good quality sometimes. Example, Will

Downing. For Mica, her career could have been great except that everybody (Al Jarreau [Feels So Good], Tamia [You Put a Move on My Heart]) covered what should have been her signature songs simultaneously while she was in the studio recording them. And because of their "pull," released before her original. This was like a shot in the gut and the career.

  • I remember Mica getting a lot of play on the smooth jazz stations. You're right about Will Downing as well

  • This song is 1000 year old funk. If you can't dance to this you've got no pulse

  • Agreed. You Gotta put on the funk face while you do...lol!!

  • too true. this is one of those tracks that if you are on the dancefloor it makes you forget where you are and get lost in the music!

  • Easily her best Song....

  • This song is FIRE!!! perfect in every way. Mica you need to re-release this song, great production from Omar.

  • I love Mica Paris's voice on this song. Angel indeed. She is one beautiful soul. Wasn't the knobtwiddling here by Narada Michael Waldren?

  • @rob57uk Narada did the "gotta hold on" mica cut another sleeper masterpiece... i used to spin that joint every week at zanz in sf (and this joint as well). this was omar on the production...

  • @DjDedan Thanks. It's a beautiful piece of work, a masterpiece for sure!

  • I've been searching for this song for a while-Thanks for posting :)

  • Tune!!!!!!

  • This tune is a real masterpiece!

  • this is a brilliant track for sure one of her best EVER , her vocals OUTSTANDING

  • One of the best songs ever made.

  • Very Nice song !!

    Great video too !!

    Thanks for the share :-))

  • thank you

  • If ya are lovin this, ya gonna love the new album "born again" it is seriously amazing. Its out june 1st, and there are gonna be some classics just like this that emerge i think

  • The Bass is so up on the UK soul cut! Awesum tune!

  • Maaaaaan this was my jam back in da day, gwan Mica, big up ya self.

  • i rember this track paying in a smoke filled house party back in the day. what at tune!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hard to believe this was a B-side! Should've been a single. Shouldn't known better.

  • Brilliant classic tune!

  • Love Mica's voice, she's in cheltenham next month for the jazz festival, i can't wait!

  • I can NEVER stop listening... Her tone is addictive!! Wow! Thank you Jesus!!!

  • classic uk soul vibes, never have tunes like this anymore

  • LOL! Yer the Arches. The big rave was " Dance Wicked" I use to supply the sound system in room 2 while "Good Times Sound" (Sir Norman Jay) supplied the set in room 1.

    Cha the good old days!

  • Easy Omar and Mica, this was a Jammy back in the Dizzle....used to listen to it over and over again....bad tune....and the bassline...Silly.

  • this is THE best uk soul cut EVER, probably even one the best soul cuts in the world...sublime. should of been a single, wouldve been a worldwide hit. God bless mica and omar.

  • UK classic soul from 2 of the kings of soul...

  • Yes its smooth, yes its got lyrics, yes she has soul, yes Omar's synth overlaid bass is second to none, but you just have to check out the slowed down Amen style snare and drum pattern. Wicked little shuffle and a snare to slice your head off!!!

  • produced by omar

  • This is just class ...... nothing more needed to say

  • You better believe it! I went to college with Mica from 1985- 1988 at Vauxhall in London. We were in different classes but we always hanged out in the canteen making fun and jokes. Micia I always knew you would get far now keep on going. By the way this song is one of my favorites XXX God Bless You,

  • big up im from Vauxhall and we used to jam in the Arches with Omar and some now uk grime mcs the memories are too good.

    bless

  • The most underrated UK Soul duo of all time. Big ups to Omar and Mica for giving us this classic!! Its songs like this that really showcase Mica's vocals them two need to get back in the studio. Tune sell offf!!!

  • HOT-HOT-HOT!!! Song and video!

  • For any woman whos ever been let down by her man. I seem to keep going back to it throughout my life funnily enough!! Good job it`s one of the best tunes songs ever

  • The quintessential bassline of the 1990s.

  • Amen! Serious head nodding stuff!

  • For real, such a smooth tune. Has everything.

  • Thanks for posting this one, its just legendary! An all time classic indeed.

  • Big Tune!

  • all time classic brit soul, none other than Omar with the little keystabs too

  • Yahman!..this tune is da beezneez!

Nice one 111aris, you made this brother very happy today....

  • This is probably her best recording ever. Those low notes are spine-tingling. Amazing to think it was a B-side years before it made it to the "Black Angel" LP. This song could have broke her in the U.S. Brilliant "neo-soul" before the suits in marketing even came up with the word.

  • Mica isn't neo-soul. She is soul.

  • lol yeh big up lewisham!

  • Yuh Dun Know!

  • Mica's brilliant and this is one of her best, a timeless great, and from a lewisham girl!...even better

  • Definitely Mica at her very best!! Big up to everyone who raved to this at 'Oasis' club in East London in the late 80s - early 90s :)

  • MUSIC!!!!!!

  • Work it out, Ms Mica! Great video! Love this song, Black Angel was such a good album, never understood why it wasn't released in the US!

  • this is a BIG PEOPLE tune

  • One of my ALL TIME favs.....

    SERIOUS TUNE!

  • Thanks for the post, this was a top tune! Didn't Omar have something to do with the music/bass/vocal on this?

  • I think he produced it. I'm still waiting for someone to upload Mica performing this with Omar at the Mobos way back when, 6 or 7 years ago maybe?
