More and more folks are learning the evils of corporate America. Big corporations don't give fuck one about human beings. Yet there are always plenty of numbnuts type right wingers amongst the working class that will actively support the same far right people and big corporations that routinely fuck them. Now those are some dumb motherfuckers that have a ton of bad Karma coming to them. Same thing to cops that arrest peacefull protesters. Fuck them for being worthless swine.

This is not civil disobedience. This is modern American ignorance. Just because you were let go from a job does not make a company "evil" or "greedy." Labor is a market just like any other. Someone else was willing to sell their labor at a lower price. Good for them. Now THEY have jobs they can support THEIR families with. Ever think of that? Two sides to every coin. And with the money they save they can hire even MORE people. Welcome to Economics 101 kids. It's going to be a long semester.

If you have not worked for Hyatt, shut your mouth. When you work at Hyatt it's like working with family. You give all you have because you love your job and Hyatt showed they cared. I was at Hyatt for 2 years and even though only 15 were cut from my hotel, it was devastating. Not because they blamed the economy and had to make a business decision, but how they made that decision. Most people who were cut were told they were training seasonal help and then slapped with a firing massacre.

I was about to say this is a misapplication of the term 'civil disobedience', since this was a protest against a corporate employer's treatment, not against the State...but, on checking, it seems they really were unknowingly protesting against this government's disastrous economic management (as they should) because billionaire Penny Pritzker, heir to the Hyatt chain, was Obamas Campaign Finance Chairperson! She & family were at the center of the financial crisis and real estate melt down.

Wrong on both counts.

First, blocking a downtown thoroughfare at the peak of evening rush hour is, indeed, an act of civil disobedience. Why you would even question the word choice rhetorically is a bit absurd.

Attempting to tie Penny Pritzger personal political associations to federally regulated civil arbitration between the Hyatt Hotel division and it unions is ludicrous.

JehanneDeLys appears to have gone a long way to rationalize an attack on "liberals" here.

@dogstar7 : Not really, I was actually referring to the traditional use of the term for resistance to civil government, a la Thoreau (i.e. King, Ghandi etc.). I only stumbled on the Hyatt connection to one of Obama's advisors while looking up this event! The financial crisis is of course the *root cause* of such situations — which doesn't excuse the Hyatt's egregious treatment of its employees either. FYI, I'm not with any 'party' & from Australia (perm US resident now) :)
