Have you considered Charles Horton Cooley's theory on "Looking-glass self?"

Yes, we know about that. We were not presenting that idea. This was a project to teach about identity control theory, which stems from the looking-glass self. See our wikipedia page on identity control theory for more information on the connection of the two.
