  • I loved this show as a kid they outta show reruns of this instead of the garbage they DO show

  • The guys who are still around are so busy, it would take a miracle to get them back together -- college professors, surgeons, lawyers. I think Johnny is a vocal coach. Bowser has a troupe of oldies he takes on the road periodically. Several have passed away.

  • Just think...few years later and Bozwer winds up hosting H-Squares..... Not saying there's nothing wrong with that---just in my opinion a waste of vocal talent.

  • I LOVE THESE GUYS

  • What other songs did these guys do with Lennie on vocals? I've found others with Donnie but fewer with Lennie.

  • @Veggieman87 IMO, the best features for Lennie were Put Your Head on my Shoulder, Earth Angel, Blue Moon, Beat of my Heart, and this duet with Donny. Not nearly enough.

  • Fantastic entertainment - top marks

  • whats your name?

  • @bosniancandy, Well there is Lennie sing Calendar Girls

  • This is the orginal "Can I Have Your Number" skit on MadTV. Priceless

  • This is the orginal "Can I Get Your Number" skit on SNL. Priceless

  • they should do that show now, it would be the most viewed show ever

  • I want Gold Lamee' pants!!!!!

  • @yarekhunt LOL i want a certain sha na na member thats wearing gold lame pants psmlllllllll x

  • i love love love Lennie's voice

  • If the originals reunited, I'd be there no matter what the cost!!

  • This is a great video. To JoeyMars1 who asked about Bobby Rush, the answer is definitely NO! Bobby (not his real name) is a south Florida entertainer who tells people that he was Jocko from Sha Na Na. He is NOT (although he is a great entertainer.) I know the real Jocko and Bobby is not him, nor has Bobby ever had anything to do with Sha Na Na.

  • wow you forget lennie could sing!

  • OMG MEMORIES, OF WHEN AMERICA WAS AMERICA , TODAY'S MUSIC IS SHIT.

  • Lenny we love ya bud! All the way from old Brockton Ma.!

  • LOL ! See bowser wipe the grease on to his pants.....@eighteen seconds into the vid.

  • i remember watching sha na na every tuesday night @7.30 p.m. on wnbc-tv 4.

  • where are these guys from

  • @vyanez08

New York, the birth place of Doo-Wop!!!

  • lennie played saxophone and sang 'chances are' on that live in ny album, the one with the 'dance contest'.........

  • I met guy at a fort lauderdale flea market who could sing and he claims to be associated with Sha na na. He said his name is Bobby Rush..If anyone knows of this as being so..I like to know.

  • @JoeyMars1 no such person on sha na na 's roster's of great talent.don't know who he is or where he's from.but I do know that (BOBBY RUSH IS A FAKE) ok.

  • Thanks and thanks again for putting these on here

  • who is playing the sax while lenny sings?

  • This is such a sweet song...*sighs*

I love them all! Each and every one of them made Sha Na Na what it is. (I don't want to say "was"...)

  • These guys can sing and they are very entertaining. I wish the Orignal Sha Na Na would renuite with Bozwer. Now that would be kool.

  • I loved their TV show when I was a kid.. great memories!!

  • yes ME TOO! lol

gotta love the old shows, and 50's/DOO WOP...

    woooooooo hooooooooo shoooo bopp...

    ♪≈♫≈♥≈♪≈♫

  • Hey Donny! My name is Judy! LOL!!! Great singing guys!

  • See Bowser wipe the grease of his pants LOL !

  • Look at Denny's back at the beginning of the clip, you can see the black sunglasses hanging from the small of his back

  • The sunglasses are hanging on the back part of their pants. You can catch a glimpse of them in the beginning of the clip...

  • Ok, so Bowser may have had the sunglasses in his pocket but where did the other 3 pull them out of? lol

  • Inside jacket pocket?

  • what can one say the good old days -what a pleasure to can find it on the net

  • Go to youtube foofsmom for 31 new Sha Na Na videos. They are great.

  • What a great group. They all had their own character. I don't think they took it as far as they could have. There were so many of them. These two could really sing. Very competitive for the spotlight.

  • These two sound great together!

  • Hey, look at Bowzer from :12 to :19. Watch what he does after he runs his hands through his hair!!!

  • It's part of the act--Johnny, Denny and Santini are all doing the same thing. (wiping grease on their pants).

  • OH I loved this show. I graduated high school in '77 so this is just so perfect. THANK YOU for bringing back the smiles.

  • i like it but bobby vee sings it better

  • Anybody know what happened to Donny? He`was actually a pretty good singer.

  • He is still with the band. So are Screamin Scott and Jocko.

  • When Donny finally took his sunglasses off (to sing "Venus") it was like seeing the Lone Ranger without his mask.

  • i was watching this when i was 2-3

  • I love Bowzer but I wasn't ever too crazy about his doing that open-mouth thing. Looked like he was catching flies.

  • Bowser is wearing Black and White Converse All Star

    s!

  • Bowser was a huge influence on punk rock fashion!

  • Donny kicks butt on this song. I like how they gave all the guys a chance to sing lead sometimes since they were all awesome singers. LOL by the way at 1:58 behind Donny - Bowser to Johnny when someone screws up on the choreography.

  • How funny! Thanks for pointing that little glitch out! I love their blunders!

  • Lennie, if you're out there, You Rock!...Mike (from The Cutmen)I was a big fan in the seventies!

  • Lennie sometimes sits in with a group called The Spellbinders. If you go their site and click on "schedule" you can see when he will be performing with them.

  • Lenny might not have been a Johnny looks wise but he could really belt one out..Can I get those gold outfits on Ebay?

  • I believe the hit version of the song was done by Don and Juan. Oh, by the way, I heard Zappa was a doo-wop fan.

  • anyone knows the original singer of this song?

  • wow I always remembered Lenny playing the sax. Is this the only time he ever sang?

  • No, he sang a lot of songs, including Blue Moon, which was in the movie,"Grease".

  • im a 40 yr old male that was raised on doo wop, you tube rocks, thanks for sharing

  • There's no question in my mind that 'Jeff Goldblum' could have played 'Bowser'! lol

  • Yes, I remember these guys, love them!

  • Frank Zappa used the same melody in "he is so gay" right? Or am i the only person that sees this?

  • Just checked the Zappa video and you are correct. Except for the tempo, all is the same.

  • I miss their Saturday night tv show. They were tops.

  • Totally cool!!! Love em all!

  • Going to see Johnny Contardo perform in Philly at Benny the Bums (Holiday Inn) on April 20th...it is a Meet and Greet for $75, Johnny spends time with his fans answering questions and socializing...His voice is amazing!

  • Lovely old classic song...thx.

  • I went crazy for any song Donny sang, since I loved him! Now that I'm listening as an adult, he has a great voice! They were all so good and so much fun!

  • Pretty good harmonies here. I don't remember Donny singing much, but he sounds really good. Dirty Dan on guitar. I used to love this tv show.

  • Lenny had a pretty good voice, regardless. Most of the guys were average singers, except for Johnny Contardo, who was head and shoulders above the rest.

  • I agree with you about Johnny. He made the longest lasting impression on me (I was 4 when the show debuted). But watching these videos again, there were several good singers in the group. I'm glad faerydancer has brought us these videos to enjoy. Johnny's still my fave though.

  • Amen to that!!! Johnny's voice is gorgeous, and so is he :)

  • My name is Emiliano and I love Sha Na Na ;)

  • GREAT! Just one question though (and if anyone knows, please tell me.) Lennie was singing with Donny, but he's normally the sax player. I heard the sax being played but I didn't see any of the others playing it. Anyone know who was?

  • That was the way it was when Sha Na Na did the show. They would sing the songs, but have pre-recorded music backing them. Too bad really because they could really play as shown in other concert footages. Great band, great memories, thanks for all the posts. Huge fan, from Canada.

  • I had the same question, actually. I remember having that question when I saw Lennie singing lead on a song once and playing sax and he didn't get the sax up to his mouth in time, hehe. Thanks for your answer and you are very welcome for the posts. It's a lot of fun putting them up here!

  • When Lennie sang Mr Bass Man with Bowzer, Donny played the sax.Of course this did not work with What's Your Name as both sang lead. Where are you getting this footage from the TV show? It's great to see over 25 years later!

  • Yea. Sadly Lenny had to leave the group due to health problems and only two original members remain.

  • Jocko Marcellino, "Screamin'" Scott Simon, and Donny York are all still in SNN. What I find aggravatin' is that Jon "Bowzer" Bauman and Johnny Contardo are right there in LA, where SNN is based, and still performing. "Dirty" Dan McBride is in Hollywood, writing and recording for films. Seems like somebody would pull 'em together sometime.
