  • johhny eh foda....jah pirei mt por ai afora ao som dele......

  • Why wasn't Johnny Winter included in the Woodstock movie? Rank injustice!

  • Winter, and Canned Heat.....The reason I got the Blues.....

  • Before there was Stevie there was Johnny, just ask Tommy.

  • He played Woodstock?? No Sh.... LOL

Best kept secret since ... ah... Rockwell? LOL

At his concert way back in the 70's (in San Diego : ) he played a lot like from 2:05 -- 3:27 only the bass drum and his lead guitar solo forever

    Thx, T UP

    gus : ) ♪

  • how could they leave Johnny Winter, Mountain, and CCR out of the movie?

  • @Christiscatholic33ad From Wikipedia's CCR article: 'Their set was not included in the Woodstock film or its original soundtrack because John Fogerty felt the band's performance was subpar.' The 2009 includes a bunch of performances not included in the movie, including Mountain, JW, and CCR.

  • VIVE JOHNNY WINTER ,l'albinos ,the best rock sixties ,magique ,excellent ,un grand du rock ,toujours là !! rebel 68

  • Greatest albino guitarist EVER

  • No wonder I don't remember it `¡` The Movie Editor ate the bad acid ... Guitar Slinger. He always was greater than people gave him credit for, just pure talent. Too bad they pulled Highway 61 from Bob Dylan's Birthday with G.E. Smith, and the Saturday Night Live Band.

  • f*ck...why wasn't this in the movie?

  • @robbopaloobop Because the film editor didn't listen ...he took the green acid

  • @raedwulfone

...yea....the green acid would mess you up, man

as would the purple and the blue dot

but that's a poor excuse, don't you think?

  • I was there, man! What an amazing get together and the people were dancing all over the place! It was a joyous affair and at the end of the night the bride and groom left for their honeymoon in sunny Utica. Oh, wait a minute. I was thinking of my cousin Naiomi's wedding. Never mind.

  • is that Tommy Shannon on bass in the back? he is great.

  • anyone else hear danzig?

  • a total blues master...he was just so amazing....unreal gutiarist.....

  • He was playing a 12-string model, but he strung it like a normal six string guitar; I guess he just really liked the tone of that particular axe. Also, maybe removing the doubled/octave strings created a bit more space between the single strings and facilitated his fingerpicking style.

  • I saw him last year great

  • Johnny Winter, Janis Joplin, The Band, CCR, Mountain, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane............and we got Sha Na Na and Country Joe and The Fish in the movie. LOL. Now some bands probably made a mistake by not showing up. Jethro Tull turned the gig down because they didn't think it would be a big deal and Zep took a higher paying gig in Jersey. Joni Mitchell appeared on the Dick Cavett show instead. Bob Dylan said no because he was "disgusted by all of hippies hanging around his house.

  • @jmforge lol I don't think you can say Zeppelin made a mistake because they did more than fine without woodstock and woodstock was such a mess with the scheduling and everything that you can't blame them for being uneasy about it although I WISH they did play it so they could prove how HEAVIER they were than ANYBODY at that time. I could care less about the Dead or Janis but I agree alot of greats were left out. search Zeppelin Lewisville International Speedway for video of them from that month

  • Jimmy page should not be mentioned in the same breath with Johnny. Jihnny winter was SO much better

  • @rockinroger69 Winter was a blues traditionist. Page took the blues and all his influences especially rockabilly, mixed it with the psychadelia of the time and made something ORIGINAL much like Hendrix but different.. Your stupid to say that one is better than the other especially when they play in different genres..and Page created his genre..to me Winter for the most part was just playing what people before him played. They were both great obviously but I rank creativity above all.

  • @rockinroger69 wasn't that the Justin Bieber fan????

  • Who's the Barry Manilow fan that voted the 1 dislike?

  • Absolute genius

  • Can't understand a word he's saying, but I love it. :)

  • Great performance. What a jewel this would be if well recorder. Man!

  • It's a 12 string that doesn't sound like a 12 string - amazing. Probably due to the genius of the player.

  • 12 string but only six strings on it. easier to thumb pick I guess

  • This is sooooo cool. I never knew this existed! Does anyone remember the Ozark music festival i think in aug. of 74? I never have heard any thing about it. In Sedaila Missouri. I saw cameras, theres got to be some footage somewhere!

  • those Fender solidbody 12-atrings sure are ugly guitars - sounds good when played like this, though

  • Tommy Shannon baby!

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?

Want to original and better quality, try this one youtube.com/watch?v=xbFAEw_Foqw&feature=channel_video_title

there is about 6 minutes missing from this video.

  • cause we've been saving this best for th last...... of your and our lives.....

  • never mind that this song kicks ass but i like that johnny is so free flowing on stag and have a blast playing

  • the american Rory Gallagher

  • @idwtsasoj

No Rory Gallagher was the Irish Jimmy Page (looks wise)

I see what you mean though they have a similar style and voice except Rory is bit better

  • @1m2a3t4t5 I think Osama looked simular to Jesus but thats completely irrelivant, but yes I definately think rory was better

  • @idwtsasoj

hah, I personally only like Rory's work with Taste

  • THE FACT THAT THIS SONG AND OTHERS ARE NOT ON WOODSTOCK IS CRIMINAL............

  • Johhnny was so far ahead of the curve back in 1969.

  • Winter Pop new Years Eve Maple Leaf Gardens what a show, I will never forget

  • This should have been on the movie ageed I to never new he was there a great loss for thosde who dont see this rock on Johnny the blues king who was never officially crowned

  • WOW!!!!

  • awesome! ! just like in Edmonton at the polish hall last February /11. With James Cotton!

  • F____ , love this thanks

would like to add This ain't no numb u up blues solo it's so sweet thanks

  • F____ , love this thanks

  • Johnny Winter knocked the socks off of everyone at Woodstock. Most everyone had no idea who he was. Then suddenly onstage, there was the whitest white guy in the world playing the guitar and singing like a "Lowzeeanna" Blues Master! I really think he stole the show.

  • Christ i never even knew he was there!!! rock on johnny!! you and dwane are my favorites!!

  • yes johnny i remember the tunes well lol ~!

  • I don't think Johny is or was ever a under-rated guitarist. He has always been a giant.

  • I don't think Johny is or was ever a under-rated guitarist. Truly a giant.

  • Dam straight. No violence either. non what so ever. And girls didn't have to look like Barbie Dolls. Not much money, but music, drugs and great, great music. Cheers.

  • When I was 13 years old, I went into my local record store and bought a Hank Williams album and a Johnny Winter album. The girl at the counter was very impressed.

  • Johnny Winter is God, remember that.

  • @Jerebear57 yeah I'm not shitting you..

  • Most under-rated guitarist of all-time!

  • My God on guitar. This should be added to the Woodstock Film at some point if for no other reason than a historical one.

  • me too but i will say this all aspiring guitar players bow down and listen to one of the very best ever.....

  • I'm speechless.

  • He's not in the movie because of copyright issues

  • when I want to forget the world...I listen to this song :) He is stunning! Love his driving spirit

  • Hendrix wanted Winter to stick around and jam with him during his set but Winter had to leave for another gig.

  • wonderful!! I guess you'd have to ask Peenebaker or Wadleigh or whoever did the movie. This is much more interesting than Alvin Lee as hot as that was. But we miseed out on CCR , Tim Hardin, Incredible String Band, The Dead and Janis...Why the hell did we get Sha Na Na...bowser wasn't even with them then!!

  • I was there unknowing at the time just what impact Woodstock would have on a nation and generations of people.

  • It IS on the movie.

  • best vid on u tube..musikw1s3!

  • Wow i never knew Johnny was at woodstock! I have his Johnny Winter And Live album and love him but I never ever heard him on ny of the woodstock stuff. What a fucking rip off. Oh well. I was so high back then i doubt i could have known anyway :)

  • @jazzynet1 Your comment made me laugh. Yeah! are lot of us were too dam high, but what an awesome time to be growing up. The music, the bands.....just great.

  • @herdygerdy36 I agree! We were blessed with the best of times! The music, the fashions, the drugs! Man were those the daze!

  • I have always wanted to see this. JOhnny playing a Fender 12 string at Woodstock. He is a true master

  • @timofarim

I'm listening hard and looking hard....is his guitar strung with all 12 strings???

  • @12347771 In his new book, Raisin' Cain, he only put 6 strings on the Fender 12 string.

  • @timofarim love the fender 12.

  • @timofarim It actually only has 6 strings on it, he was using it for open tunings for slide, he also used an SG for standard tuning.

  • @superbeavo There's 12 knobs on that thing.

  • @timofarim It sounds like Johnny had the 12 string Fender strung with only six strings. Possible?

  • @bloozintro Very possible. I seem to remember lots of 6 strung versions of this guitar. It was hard to get light gauges then, 1 strings were hard work!!! He is playing in A so I am sure it is 6 stringed as 12 srtrings needed to be tuned down to DGCFAD or else neck would bow nasty...

Actually I can confirm it's six strings just wtach at 4.10. to 4.13

  • What is the guitar tuning for this please?

  • @JimBozeman1956 ..I heard he played a lot of drop C......

  • @JimBozeman1956 Standard 440, all the way.

  • Awesome...One of the first albums I purchased was Johnny Winter. And yes, dam straight he should of been in the movie. First time I have seen this, and yes, yes indeed took them long enough.

  • Woodstock - here's my take on it...

They deliberately left out some of the great artists who were not at par with themselves (i.e.: Janis...) Jonhny is amazing but he wasn't as tight as the usual indoor gigs. The rest of the editing took care of Hendrix and Alvin Lee who dwarfed any other guitarist, that night... A sound decision for the time.

    I rest my case...

  • @766Pierre Did you see Johnny back then I saw him inDenver at the Mile High Festival and in Sanfrancisco and this is as tight as anyone can get, Alvin Lee was great but he was always great like Johnny I think you better try another theory like Johhny was in treatment for 18 months after the three J's died and neither he or Janis made it.... leaving out Jimi would have been sacrilege but he wasnt as tight as he could be .... is anyone wasn't

  • @BariaSolo I totally agree with you. No I didn't see Johnny live...ever. Although I know what he's capable of . Just like his brother... just a lot of badass albino core...

  • @BariaSolo your theory... better. Point taken.

  • I love the way Johnny floats around when he plays. Totally immersed in the song and the groove....hell, he IS the groove!

  • hey johnny I'm from sardinia and I'm your fan---I Know all your songs-You play hard and fluid-good luck

  • is this bitchin', or what?

  • @TheHeliumkid believe that, Kid...

  • Joe, same here and I have seen him 5 times.

  • I know what you mean joethepainter90, they had to make room for Melanie and the mud people in the movie ......Johnny is a monster....always a icon

  • Ya know what I feel fuckin stupid cause

I've loved Johnny Winter since I was a kid

I didn't know he was at Woodstock!!!!!!!

  • @joethepainter90 NOW YOU KNOW.

  • Very cool ,love em...

  • The epitome of slide guitar excellence, the feeling and skill are unmatched. -db-

  • I believe it's tuned to an open A chord, E-A-E-A-C#-E. As for why this wasn't in the original movie, it's not simply an honor that's bestowed, it involves lots of business deals, and if the parties involved can't agree, it doesn't happen. Creedence Clearwater played at Woodstock too, and got called back for five encores. But apparently, their record company wanted too much money for them to be in the movie, so they weren't in it, either.

  • @zoidamachine Fogerty pulled CCR's performance due to his opinion that they didn't play very well that day. At least that is what the documentary I saw said about it.

  • @vidmachine07 If the unreleased tracks are anything like the three fantastic live CCR videos on my Woodstock DVD bonus, then Fogerty's out of his mind. I have always wished for a good live CCR video.

  • Thank God for Johnny Winter! Can someone explain why this was not on the movie Woodstock? Did they use all the film shooting Shanana?

  • @lufelima

Winter wasn't included in the Woodstock film because of a decision by his manager, Steve Paul.

  • @mc5nrg Steve paul was an ass hole , but he did one good thing for john put him together with he hang on sluppy boys. Rick and band !

  • @lufelima LOL, Thankyou for asking that question!! This mixed with Alvin and ten years after would have been too much....Hold it Carlos too...

  • @lufelima He's not in the movie because of copyright issues

  • @lufelima Don't know for sure but I think it had to do with record company politics.

  • @bluesborn there were a few acts not in the original cut...weird that Sha na na was there but this act wasn't! i think it was due to legal problems with the record company. In the case of Janis Joplin it was because she had died and her estate wasn't settled, something along that line.

  • @lufelima I agree. At times, the film languishes during footage of artists who are/were not the most popular.

I would certainly rather have seen Johnny!

  • Because his Manager Steve Paul didn't want it in there, poor Johnny had some bad managers in his day. Read his book, its awesome

  • @lufelima : It was on the movie, wasn't it ?

  • @lufelima Probably because this number was so hot that it burned out the film tape. No digital videos at that time.

  • @lufelima That's a really funny comment. My wife and I always wonder why that goofy Shanana band was even there.I guess just to make the handful of NYC fruits that were there happy.

  • @lufelima GOOD question!!!

  • Thanks for posting this gleaned, I assume, from last year's Collector's Edition of the Woodstock documentary....

  • Does anyone know the guitar tuning for this?

  • What's the line up here?

  • @JimBozeman1956

    Tommy Shannon - bass

    "Uncle" John Turner - drums

  • Amazing that this never made the album and that Richie Havens shit did. Or for that matter Country Joe. First time I ever heard his songs at Woodstock! Fucking shame it took 50 years!

  • @crud812 I mean 40 years!

  • @crud812 Sorry, Richie Havens and Country Joe both had killer material on the Woodstock album. Not "shit," maybe you should listen again with a mind for the times.

  • @mikeadk what the guy meant was,,winter was a guitar wizard,,and axe players are fronT runners,,,he is right,,WINTER IS 10X BETTER,,BUT YA HAVENS AND COUNTRY JOE WERE A FIXED OBJECT IN THE LATE 60`S AND EARLY 70`S
