"Only Ron Gilbert knows" ... Does that mean we have to defeat him like Guybrush defeated LeChuck to figure it out? Hmm.. I wonder if I should prepare some rootbeer... And a chicken with a pulley in the middle..
@apex2000 You don't have to look around on the internet very far to find plenty of interviews with Ron Gilbert in which he explains about the trilogy. e.g. for a recent one search YouTube for "Ron Gilbert - Interview at Game Forum Germany 2011" (ignore the fact that the intro is in German - the rest is English)
i would like to put forward my theory, due to LeChuck's seeming power of magic, Elaine's comment about a 'SPELL' specifically, is it not possible that LeChuck may have been able to either place these 'funfair' objects in order to lure Guybrush and entrap him in a magic spell that made Guybrush believe he was a child in a park, thus effectively getting rid of his nemesis, i know many may call this ludicrous, and i do personally want monkey island to 'exist' but is it any more far fetched
It is a sad truth, but it is THE TRUTH. I've read about this version some years ago and I belive it, but then with the other three games they make Monkey Island a true world, without other truth behind what the player see
You cut out just before the most significant incident in MI2 which throws a huge wrench into the whole theory, and that's when "Chuckie's" Eyes glow red and display electricity, as well as Elaine's "I hope lechuck hasn't put a SPELL on him" comment. Perhaps you didn't have a comment on it but it has alot to do with why people still are not convinced that it is merely Guybrush's imagination, and that all the Disney jokes are merely that, jokes drawing on real world parallels.
That was great! Pointed out all the clues supporting the theory, was well-thought out and edited well... My only problem was your narration. A lot of the time you seemed to be whispering and being overly dramatic, and I couldn't always hear what you were saying. Speak louder and more clearly next time, maybe? :)
Awesome analysis!

The first time I finished MI2 the first thing that came to my mind was the "Dungeon & Dragons" cartoon of the 80's
If you haven't seen it watch the intro video to know what I mean

You didn't mention when the pirate in MI1 breaks out of character to remind Guybrush to play along.

@tredlow Isn't that in the insult swordfighting when you ask about how nice the weather is?

@soulshadow75
No, it's when you ask them why they're all talking like that, I think.

@tredlow When was that I can`t remember

@aspasiz
In MI1, when you encounter a pirate, and are about to insult swordfight, there is a dialogue option where you ask him why he's talking like that.

Not exactly earth-shattering theories there - they've been around since Monkey 2 came out in '91.

stop thinking so hard. it's just plain old fun, like this whole series. it doesn't have to make sense to be awesome.

I think you can blame my poor sound editing and the limitations of Windows Movie Maker rather than my narrator - I think he did a great job!
