Is there a certain lens shutter speed you need this set at to get the cinematic slow motion effect? If so it would be great if you told me how to access it through my camera.
hey....i am competing my final year of school and am at the moment planning for my school short flm that is assessed..i am using a canon HV40 and want to be able to do those quick shots that are really smooth..i am also using final cut, how do you do that in the post and production stages...also how do you get that ultra deep depth of focus...im sure you cant just do that with the camera itself...thankss
It doesn't make a difference. The computer with faster specs and better editing software will edit better in HD. Unless it's wmv HD, which can't be edited at all on a mac. PC's support literally all video formats.
@gbmov OK no more sitting on the bench. I just got my MAC BOOK PRO maxed out arriving tommarow. Tell me this I have heard some bloggers say that it does not shoot true 1080HD could you please let me know if it does or does not do this. I have check out twoneil lens site and they have some rad stuff on there. thanks
the hv40-30-20 and all HDV cameras actually shot 1440x1080 and then it resize the image so that it fits the 1920x1080 frame. The only way you can get TRUE 1920x1080 is buying flash card cameras or having a 35mm equipment =) I was up to buy one of those twoneil adapters, a friend of mine has one and the results seem to be very good. congrats for your mac
Hey thanks man. Dude you do some rocking stuff. I am looking to start doing films for my submission to Film&Photography grad school. I Have seen a lot of really cool vids on here with people rocking the HV's. Like you said I am thinking of rocking the twoneils lens would solve that solution. I was told that having the tapes was better. Yet the cards are better now days. Any opinion. I am on the edge on which way to go. Sanyo as that new Sanyo VPC-HD2000A...
I just wondered could do the same effects like you have. If adjust frame rates or maybe something I could do in post production with final cut or Sony Vargus, After effects maybe. Any suggestions would help and thanks a bunch
the time remapping tool in after effects is amzing, it can generate false/fake frames to make it smoother. I use final cut just to edit and make the final colorcorrection. never heard of sony vargus =S This is all the software I use: FCP, AE CS4, Cinema 4d/Maya, Garage band with jam packs and photoshop. if I didn't aswer you well, just ask again. (:
I'm having trouble converting footage from my HV40 to After Effects: do you use some kind of convertor or adaptor for SD or HD footage? Or do you use something else?

Hey man! You are great!
I was wondering if you could tell me what better edits HD. A pc or a mac? And what do you use yourself?
Thank you.

@aupairdiary A PC actually, because you can get much better processors than using Macs.
