I love Uli Jon Roth's guitar. I really do... he's probably the guitarist that really got me into melody and metal. This is probably one of my favorite tracks from the album simply because he doesn't sing and only plays the guitar. I guess God is fair after all; He gave Uli such genius in guitar but in turn gave him a horrendous voice and method of singing.
@drittenacht Umm, he doesn't sing on this album. Okay yeah he sings a fair amount on "Stay in the Light" but it's by far his best vocal performance (which isn't saying that much but it's still pretty solid) and most of the time it's the superior Mark Boals and Liz Vandall on vocals, with Uli focusing on his brilliant guitar.
Uli is the most sincere Musician in my opinion and he laid the groundwork for so many guitarist . He had money from Virgin Killer album when it went Gold in many countries plus he gets Scorpions royalties till this day, he wrote many songs for them. Its sad that he was never on the front cover of Guitar World or Guitar Player. Great great great! Long live Uli!
I'm a huge steve vai fan but I think I hear some Uli influence on sound theories, but thats to be expected uli has beaten most to the punch,a new innovative guitarist I discovered on accident on warmth in the wilderness2 tribute to jason becker album is carlos creator he's from spain I think man he has such a refreshing unique style;I hope somebody downloads music by him.
Is Uli rich? How does he afford to play with orchestras and such? I think he is the greatest of all the new guitarists. Is he the most popular in Germany or is it Mike Schenker?
Yes, you are correct, I'm old school, so when I think of the greats, I think of guitarists from the late 60;s. Yes Uli did a great job on Sails of Charon, I think that was done in '75...that was outstanding. I meant to say that it's too bad more people didn't know about him.
Wonderfully Magnificent, truly, an awesome total sound. Tonal quality, and structure of the different parts, combining into one, beautiful, presence.

There are two guitarists who manage to bristle my beautiful, Malmsteen and Uli, and are a real incentive to keep learning.

His tone has gotten so much better than it was on Metamorphosis, it's a little more "distant" sounding, I think. Love it!

You can almost hear the guitar speak the silent lyric. Actually, you can always hear Uli's guitar speak, can't you?
