It's really interesting how animals seem to sense an impending earthquake. My cat freaked out about 5 minutes before the big Seattle earth quake 6-7 years ago. She was sleeping and suddenly darted out of the house not to return for 3 days.

thats true...they were probably trying to say something...the day of the quake when I was in the mountains-right after lunch insects stop their "noise"-MUTE- and then they will start again but in different-not usual- tones-I thought it was too much ipod music in my brains...but then the quake hit

Even though everyone knows what is going to happen, but how r they going to escape. leaving the whole Si Chuan alone? U see, Wars and conflicts caused by humans could be resolved. But the natural disasters, we cant! so y the fighting? Many ppl r killed by the earthquake. Do u still wanted more ppl died? Res In Peace to all the demise. Even if people were warned, where would all those people go to? China's population is so large. Whether or not they were warned, people would have died. Whether or not it would have been this big of an amount of people, who would know.

We rely too much on man made scientific machines, and ignored natural warnings.. take 2004 tsunami for example..

And some big shot scientist said we still cannot predict when an earthquake will occur.

It is true that most of the time there are some signals prior to natural disasters. But the problem is those signals didn't ONLY appear prior to disasters. That's why we cannot rely on them. For example, this toads thing happens pretty often. If we reply on that as a signal for earthquake, people will be too tired moving around probably:)

well a duh its some sort of natural disaster. we learned in elementary school that when animals act wierd it means some sort of natural catastrophe.

the chinese gov. is just trying to hush everything up: "oh its a welcoming for the olympics" blah blah. they're probably just worried about the effects on tourism after people find out about the earthquake, especially now since the government had a warning and it definitely could have been foreseen & lives saved.
