My iPhone 3Gs has stsrted to display everything back to front all the lettering numbers and everything.. does anyone know of a reason or a possible fix for the problem?...any help would be fantastic.
That last part honestly made me feel much better. Because I have had to take my iPhone apart a few times, then the screen dies...connects to the pc thought, then turns on after a long period of time, I thought I must havee broken it, Im glad to know that is what is meant to happen, that makes me feel better about it all(:
The bit at the end was helpful and just the tip I was searching for. Because I just replaced my lcd and screen and have no function of screen!! So fingers crossed that draining the battery works for me!

No response at all. My PC doesn't even recognize my iPhone. I measured my battery and it was 2.8 V. I know it's hard to help but all idea's are welcome because i have no idea what to do !

Am I missing something here? your computer can pick up your iphone- you have no lcd working but yet you are still able to play music on your iphone to drain the battery? how did you get to the music on your iphone then?
@decus69 I pressed the power button and waited about 30 seconds until I thought it was turned on. Then pressed the button on the headphone cable to start playing music. I turned the volume right up so it used more power and just left it in a room until it turned off. That was the only way I could know for sure it had used all the power. Someone else suggested doing a reset by holding power button and home button for 30 seconds would work too, but it didn't work for me at the time.
@locksleynet i need to change the complete screen on my iphone like you, when you say drain the battery do you mean to where it comes up with the battery logo and flashes red to be charged or so that it doesnt come on at all?? Awesome vid btw :D
@decus69 oh I get it, thanks. I have a similar problem, I've connected cable 1,2,3, but screen is not working at all plus the home button doesn't work. have you got any suggestion which might help me get it up and running? Also how far does the cable #3 have to go inside the connector?
@decus69 cable 3 does not go very far into the connector, part of the end is still visible when properly connected. I'm unsure about the home button, sorry.. Maybe it'll come back to life once the screen and LCD are up and running again?
TIPS::: when you are initially removing the frount digitizer and screen, etc instead of risking damage and spending time prying it open I used a suction cup (the one from my GPS windscreen mount) and simply lifted it out with no problems at all except that I had to clean the suction cup first... just make sure you lift the end with the charger/dock first as not to damage the cables/ribbons.
Hey! My phone had a smashed screen so I went ahead bought the part from ebay (screen and tools) I opened it, which was initially pain in the ass then once I put the part back together and connect 3 cables to the iphone, it wouldn't turn on at all. Is there a way to test to see if my iphone is working at all. Would you say probably I need to drain the battery and then try it again? @abbysawesome98 haha, yea true.. It was pretty damn small :-p My proper desk was too messy so I did it on a little table in my lounge so I didn't have to show all my mess.
@goldfishcarlos hi, the image quality on the new screen looked exactly the same as the original one on my phone.. But there were no problems with the motherboard so that could be the problem with your 2G. What happened to your motherboard?
@locksleynet My friend, i thought it was my Mobo, i just took that lcd and touch (1 piece now) and put it on another Iphone 2g and i got the same result!! Also the touch does not work at all !!!!

@goldfishcarlos ah no! Did you pay a lot for it? Try messaging the seller if the screen didn't work.. Sometimes they can still be alright to offer refund or exchange even after leaving feedback. From your photos *I think* it looks like it's not the screen, but the motherboard.. The screen looks clear despite showing merged images.
@goldfishcarlos u cant use the lcd from a touch apple makes it so its hard to fix urself so u hav to pay them buy a new lcd off amazon made specificly for ur type of iphone

Just bought a broken iPhone from ebay. Smashed screen, looks like digitizer and the LCD... Needs both of them, new connector, case, sim tray, screws.. Might need a battery but maybe not. It's a 16gb 3gs so if it all works out, £150 iPhone!! Only paid £100 for the phone. I'll make a video on it all as I don't think there is another video like it on eBay!
you don't need to drain the iphone battery just hold down the power button and home button for about 10 seconds released both buttons and the iphone will start up.

@FIRESKULLZ81 yea it'll be the LCD that's broken if you get the barcode pattern. Careful with the new one when you get it, they are so easy to bend and it only takes one little bend for it to be ruined. There's a link in the description for where I got mine, but there are loads of other places selling them on eBay too.

@FIRESKULLZ81 That would be the lcd... The digitizer is the "glass/touch sensor" and the LCD is the screen behind the glass :P I've replaced countless screens on my different iphones and ur problem sounds like the LCD.
i dont think you needed the actual LCD screen ..because yours looked like it had no damge ...but the glass that covered the LCD screen needed to be fixed .
My aunt did the same with her iPhone. I don't think I see myself getting one, just hearing about how easily they brake and slip from your hand lol, hers looks almost exactly like that

@Augusta86 it cost me £30 (roughly $43).. I put a link in the description to the Ebay shop I used, but there are lots of them on there. Careful if it's water damage - it might not be the screen that needs to be replaced.. It could possibly have got to the motherboard and it could need a complete replacement. These phones are just too easy to break :-s

I didn't know this at first, so I used the control on the headphones cable to turn the ipod player on. That function still worked despite the screen not showing anything. I just left it playing music overnight until it ran out. Then when I plugged in the charger, the screen came on :-)
@Liubiss You dont even need to drain battery.... When you start the project turn iphone off... make sure not to accidentally turn on when taking apart. When its all back together turn it on.... if it doesnt recognize then hold power button and home button at the same time till it force reboots... then it will work

I bought one for the 2g, still the phone has a burned board, but when it shows the apple logo, the image is bad.
is yours as vivid as original?
