  • Its an MK2 so it would have to be 1964-65 i would imagine.

  • AWESOME. Do you know the date of this film, by any chance?

  • nah,sorry =)

  • Yes, now it can be told. We owe the intro to "Strawberry Fields Forever" to David Nixon!

  • Jesus! I had no idea this is what it was originally invented for. I'll never listen to "Starless" the same way :-)

  • So beautiful! Just like the Hammond organ and the Fender Rhodes, the Mellotron became a legend not for the success in fulfilling its intended purpouse (emulating existing acoustic instruments with less hassle - hahaha!), but for its unique sound. The Mellotron is very special among them all for its "haunting sound". If I was rich, I'd have a few of those.

  • Puny humans, thou shalt bow in reverent awe to my King Crimsonic majesty, and antiquated sampling ability! For lo, I am Mellotron, hear me roar!

  • oh damn, bow down everyone.

Mellotron's hella scary. i will proceed to feed you tapes so that your life may be sustained, and i will be your humble servant.

  • Haha, if you really want a head-scratcher, think about the Birotron that Rick Wakeman attempted to sponsor at the close of the 70's. It fed on EIGHT TRACK tapes! :-))

  • nothing, simply nothing, can substitute this legendary instrument. awesome old 60's squeak..
