@alexroxhissox Because they were landing in France. That's across the channel that is called the English Channel, It's alot more closer then the US. if they took off at the states they would've made it because they would've ran out of fuel and dropped into the ocean.
i haven't seen this series so this question is not as stupid as it seems, but from youtube it looks like this company's training and deployment was done from england, why is this? is it for the terrain, or what?
Can i ask a really dense question...was this a film or something?? I Genuinely have no idea....I'm not usually one for films etc but this looks interesting
Band of Brothers was an incredibly moving series. Actually brought a tear to my eye watching the interviews with the real Paras. Not easy after being a Firefighter for 16 years!
If this is a stupid question I apologise in advance! How many Dakotas are there in the world that are still airworthy? Are we seeing real aircraft taxi-ing and taking off here or this really good CGI/trick photography/editing using just one or two real aircraft?
Agree with many of the Posts,..Band of Brothers...you felt you could be one of those men Winters helped up off the floor, where the pacific, their seems less attachment to men and individual characters!
I like the pacific, but it is no BoB, and hopefully out their are some good British writers who can put the Pegasus Bridge book and subsequent storys of the British Parachute regiment into a series screenplay to hand to speilberg and Hanks and see what they think...if not, l shall do it myself!
@kamakazi423 Nope, not at all. I'm quite disappointed in it. Watching Band of Brothers felt like you were a part of Easy Company where watching The Pacific feels like a movie.
@prorobo.Sadly I have to agree,I was really looking forward to `The Pacific` but while the combat scenes were really good the jumping around between characters and theatres of war kind of diluted the punch, whereas BOB with its very linear style made you really care about every man in the company.
i think this scense is really so " speahless " for me , i feel so moved when i see the plane go up into the skye , i m a girl & m into war film , hero one like this .

@ajb7876 There are quite a few. Air Atlantique have them in cargo service and the 'Battle of Britain Memorial Flight' of the RAF have one. x
