Who's the arranger of the original piano accompaniment? Definitely it's NOT the one by Shostakóvich, and it shows (mere talent here compared to the genius the great 20th-century Russian manifests there)...

Great voice nevertheless; however, for real class (as well as Shostakóvich's orchestration, try Vishñévskaja + Rostropóvich or Khvorostóvskiy + Gjórgijev (BOTH performances are stellar!!!). [On YouTube, substitute Dutoit (almost as good) for Gjórgijev.]
