O my god! This resembles a part of my story. I was a swedish citizen since I was 4. When I became 15 my family, including me, travelled to Egypt as visitors. But then my family forced me to stay there and go at a horrible school. I lived there even when I was 12 and 13, and it was a nightmare. So I understand how that mother and her daughter feel. Now I am 30 and live a normal life in Sweden.
I heard that this wasn't even a true story. The real Betty Mahmoody exaggerated the story and just wanted to go back to America with her daughter instead of getting a divorce.
I just saw this and I HATED IT. I'm not even going to talk about how blatantly racist and Islamaphobic it is because that's not even relevant and it's apparently a true story. I actually love some movies that have a similar topic(The Stoning of Soraya M. for example, that movie is beautiful) This movie was just so bad. The acting was terrible, the cinematography is straight out of a Life Time movie, and the direction was almost non-existent. I wish I could erase this nonsense from my mind.

Many people in Iran are under the oppression of religious authorities. Many women are covered up not of their own liking but because of a mandatory, yet unpopular, law. When you call an Iranian an Arab, it's an insult to us (even worse than shithead). Then it means that you think we are no better than Arabs. Iranians are the opposite.

@Shahin2102 ic where you come from. It is true that arabs have been devastating the world, I have been attributing that to Islam, not to race. (Actually, there are some really civilized muslim apostates in Europe. They seem to change once they leave Islam).
But with the government you must endure I understand all the opposition against Islam and those who brought it, Arabs.

The American constitution starts with 'We the American people'; as far as I know Latinos were not included, so the term American for U.S. citizens is 100% correct. USA citizens, for some reason, think they are the ONLY americans, very ignorant indeed. As far as I know, I AM ALSO AMERICAN, and I was not born in the US or hold citizenship of that country.

My views come from very direct and personal experience, I lived a similar experience as this woman and know many women who did. Matter of fact, there is a platform with millions of visitors in Germany just for European victims of Muslim violence and fraud...called 1001 Geschichten. Maybe you should read...

first of all it is the west who has interest in the mid-east, and it is the west whos main goal is to make sure mid-east countries stay behine. if u were to read as i told u to ud find that there was a time where the mid-east was much more advanced than the west, but also u should read what the west did to change that. 2nd of all, u must have choosen a low life muslim comunity to live among, but i dont blame u, u were just trying to find a place to blend in. btw, be more infomation literate

also, if u have a problem with mid-east culture then dont date or marry one from there. but i just want to make it clear that the same way there is violence in the mideast there is violence in the west to. for example, women sex trafiking is very high in the europ, and another example is the texas chain saw incedent in texas (based on true events). therefor, the same way there are discusting things that hapen there there are discusting things that happen here.

@borntobehawaiian the con artists that marry western women for residence permit or money will certainly not reveal who they are. In Germany, there is a site with thousands of victims of muslims who conned the uninformed women into a relationship, leaving them broke and traumatized by violence. It is called '1001 Geschichten'. Normally, Western women are brought up to believe in tolerance and are not aware that muslim culture does neither care abouts that concept nor them.

i dont deny that there is a portion of muslim men that neglect womens rights and abuse them, but our religion has nothing to do with that. if muslims in saudiarabia, iran, pakistan... treat women like shit because thier governments allow them to, i dont see why muslims in egypt, palestine, syria, lebanon... should also be look at as women abusers. besides there is a good amount of women who are litterally tortured in the west too, until you fix ur own problems stay out of other peoples mess.

read about the ottoman empire and what the west did to break it down and how the west brought false promises and then speak, but if u dont have the capability to do so then i cant help u. there is a metal hospitals for people with mental capacity like yours, so do urself a favor and check ur self in one, other wise as i mentioned before, stop makin ur self look stupid, read a book and be more information literate.
