I've been listening to some other versions to see which version Eva based hers on, so far I haven't found anything like it. This is the only one so far where the singing really suggests the feelings of "my momma", most of the ones I've heard are very mellow, sung to soothe the listener - this one is a warning! The orchestra backs up the singer rather than vice versa.

Having a sensitivity towards high pitches, not many sopranos are on my "favorites" list. I've always been an alto, contralto, & male voices fan (basses...mmm xD). But I have to say that I absolutely ADORE Cassidy's voice! I mean, every note that I hear from her is mouthwatering & hypnotic. Absolutely gorgeous! It's such a shame that she passed away like that, & so young too! How tragic! She had so much potential. I have no doubt that she would be considered 1 of the greatest singers of all time.

Eva Cassidy is simply an incredibly breathtaking artist - time after time. Her voice is so rich with soulful meaning, look as her brow crumples as she lets all of her emotion spill out of her song and touch, and change the hearts of us - the listeners - forever.

She was a truly remarkable individual and it's simply a tragedy that she died so young. Either God was desperate for another angel by his side, or God doesn't exist at all.
