If you going natural I will say using the following acne medication
1.Neutrogena on the spot acne treatment the vanishing cream.
2.Scarzone tea tree cream.
Ladies if you are prone to acne because of the oil you use for your hair this two products work wonders. try them you will have no regret wait when you are using them do not use anything else
@esohe81 it's not that they are bad for the hair. it's just that our hair is prone to dryness. because of our kinks and coils our strands aren't saturated with sebum. SLS/ALS strips our hair completely of the little oils we do have. so unless diligent deep conditioning follows, one can say harsh sulfates used frequently are "bad" for our hair type. increased dryness leads to breakage which inhibits growth. they're just harsh detergents we should avoid since moisture and growth is the goal
I'm currently transitioning and I've had a weave for three months. Now I want to take it out but I don't know any styles to do with my natural hair while transitioning. could you show how you achieved the fro-hawk and the curly fro.
by the way, thanks a lot. you have really inspired me to transition( hope my hair grows as fast as yours :)) God bless.
you are sooo pretty and i love your hair! :) im 13 and i wanna stop getting perms, but its difficult to manage my curly roots. thnx for posting the vid. :)
how do u transition? do you just not get perms and relaxers? do you still get treatments at the hairdressers? To transition do you just wash your hair and use natural hair care products? gah so challenging ><
Question #1: Is it necessary to cut your hair to go natural? I haven't had a perm for 3 months(the longest I went was 6 months)and I'm thinking about not using a perm ever again. Question #2:Is it better to use the Instyler or Chi flat iron to make the hair straight?
hey!! thank you so much, i started doing videos also.....check my videos out.. i only got 2..lol but nevertheless you were one of the first videos that i started following, and you have inspired me to make encouraging vids for women who want to go natural!!!
hola, me encanta su estilo de cabello..pero por favor estoy en Portugal y se me hace muy difícil encontrar algunos productos, si pudieran recomendarme el champú y acondicionador para mi cabello que es seco y estoy en la etapa de la transición. felicidades
Hello, I just love your hair lady.....I cannot wait until my hair is that long :) I did my BC last week & I LOVE IT!! I dealt with the 2 textured for 4 months before doing the BC though but I just adore my TWA.....thanks for the videos they're helping me so much. I learn SO SO much on youtube......IDK why it took me SO long to go natural....I'm NEVER going back!!!
Thank you Nikkimae...You have the most info by far on all the stages on transitioning. I am transitioning now and I plan on cutting on my birthday December 28. I am transitioning now for 7 months and you videos made me excited to make my cut and disover what is underneath all this perm. So thank you again.
what kind of hair styles do you do while transitioning? i want to transition without the big chop..i have a A line bob cut right now and havent had a perm in about a month and a half
Your hair is gorgeous! especially on the updated vids with your natural look! I love how thick your natural hair is! I do have a question, I'm currently in the process of transitioning for about 2 months now, I dont plan on doing the BIG CHOP! With proper treatment and natural remedies, do you think my hair snap/break the longer it grows without doing the BIG CHOP?? I really need your advice. Thanks!!!
how did u prevent breakage, i am transitioning now and have experienced significant breakage on my sides what protective styles do you recommend, as well as what products i should use to stop further breakage. i have 4b type hair. thank you in advance :)
im trying to go natural, ive never seen the hair God gave me because every since i can remember ive been getting relaxers...and you are soooo right it is a joyrney ~sn~ yes shea butter is great!! i love it..it cleared up my sons eczema
@TheLoonieGurls I have no support system either. You really have to be strong I live with 3 women that ALL think HIGHLY of relaxed hair. If your mother allows you to make your own decisions let her know its YOUR hair and if you don't want to subject it to the extreme damage relaxers cause then you shouldn't have to. You are still a minor so she does have the authority to absolutely say no but educate her as to why going natural is right for you.
@AshleyMariOnYT thank you so much for the advice. well im entering senior so when i graduate im going to start transitioning then im do the BC. but for now im gona stick with the relaxers my mom give me. thnx :-)
im during the same thing and i have been with out a perm for about five months i try and keep my hair in braids but they really are hot and it summer time and i really like your hair stlyes i will realy look intoo them thanksss..?!!!!
I just live this Sisterhood of Natural Hair on Youtube... this is so supportive... I am also glad to see so many Afro Women deciding to wear the beautiful hair God gave us.
Kay, does this natural thing mean you can't straighten it, cause I wanna grow my hair long so I can do stuff with it, I don't want it to be puffy and afro-y. I love afros but not all the time. I wanna be able to do stuff with it. I'm 15 and wanna start so if it takes me a while to grow my hair, thats fine, but I don't think I wanna go natural.
So after thinking about it for 3 years, I've finally decided to transition, but without the BIG CHOP. Can you recommend any products that I can use during that transition?
Im trying to transition but my hair does not like the idea lol and I can not afford all those hair products it seems like everything they want you to go for the natural hair process is so expensive...blah idk what im gonna do
you can see a big diff in your face, i see how attractive you are with natural vs the relaxed you were covered too much in the face. Good Natural journey, i too am no relaxer/straightner. I did my 2nd BC June 2009.
Thanks for the blog. I have been transitioning since last year April. I have been weaving it for a year. I am about to take the weave out and just keep trimming it until I am able to get it to a length that I can deal with. I definitely appreciate the style ideas.
I watched plenty of other youtube vids on natural transitioning, and researched forms and blogs. I just want to say thank you for the extra inspiration to officially transition from relaxed to natural. This is my first time and hopefully my last attempting this. So thank you!! Blessed be.
you're very pretty and you look really nice both ways. lol. i live in the caribbean and i'm transitioning back to natural hair and it's hard and i've only been at it for a month and some and that's because of our climate...thank you for this video! really supportive in a way!
You have ABSOLUTELY gorgeous eyebrows!! (Not trying to b rude....but did u ever have uni-brow?) I ask becuz my bff does && she's the only person i've seen besides u with such long thick dark brows!!! N e way I LOVE them!! && much blessings on your journey!
Not at all. I went natural at 14... the summer before I started high school and I've been natural for 8 years. I'm 22 now.
It was a GREAT decision. Since you're in high school, and transitioning can be difficult, you may want to have a longer transition, so the big chop won't be as traumatic.
@abesykagdfu omg! im 13 and i wanna go natural too! when i was little, i had very curly hair. ever since i got a perm my hair has been breaking. i just recently got a perm, but the perm never lasts long. i thing its good that we wanna go natural! :)
what you did i did. i didnt know how to take care of my hair the first time i did it, and now im doing it again and i know more than i did before. Im excited, i wanna do the big chop but i havent had a perm in a while so.
I wanna transistion! But Im scared because Ive been looking at these girls on here transistioning, and it seems like their hair is their life, lol. I'm not for that. I'm too busy.
@SivvySiv LOL, so true about "hair being your life" It kinda has been for me during my transition but it doesn't have to be. You can wear braids or twists while your transition and it's much less maintenance. I'm going thru the transition now. It's work but will be worth it. Go for it girl! :)
im learning more and more from nikkimae2003 concerning natural hair care but I must say she did NOT pronounce neither 1 of those words right :) but thats not the point of this video.
Hi Kelly, you're right, that's not the point of the video, and with all due respect sh-e-a (not sh-ae) butter is correctly pronounced the way nikkemae2003 said it. In Nigeria, West Africa, where we produce some of the best sh-e-a butter that is how we say it. As for the Jo-jo-ba i just say it how i see it. X
I transitioned for 2 years and just cut relaxed ends off last week. I had to cut much more than I wanted because when I started my transition I was uninformed and was flat ironing consistently so a lot of my new growth was damaged. Congrats on your decision and please check out my vids if you get a chance.
I've been transitioning for over a year now and my hair is very, very long. Its about above my bum.(I'm half Filipino)The ends, or the relax hair I could hair is very unhealthy but I'm afraid to cut it because my natural isn't long enough yet ha ha, anyways thanks!
The 1st time i did it i was half crazy, just went to the bathroom with a pair of scissors and chopped! I cried the next day cause I thought it was a bad dream, I got over it though.
My hair story is very similar to yours, in that the 1st time I cut my hair and grew it natural I did not know how to care for it and as a result I relaxed it. Afterwards I felt horrible about my decision and wanted to turn back time to get my curls back. Now my hair is still relaxed and long, but very unhealthy. I want to go back to natural, but I keep fighting this war in my head. I'm not much of a cutter, so it's hard to me too.
Yep, that is like mine. Well you don't have to do the BC. I know some girls who have transitioned for more than a year. Let me know if you ever decide to try to go natural!
Love that Norman Brown track at the end!! I'm 4 months in my transition process and am SO ready to BC, but am TRYING to go 4 more months. LoL Bantu-knot outs are one of my staples =) Great styles!
This was really helpful, I'm on my second try too. I really wanted people to give products that are sold in easy places, like palces anyone would find easily. So thank you for that :).
I have just started to go natural and I am having a hard time.. Because I am leaving in Europe right now and the water here is very hard. I don't know what products I can use PLEASE If you can help?
quietrain7: I would say try to order things online if possible however, i Know $ is tight for some of us. I like to deep condition my hair using things u find in the kitchen: avacados, mayo, olive oil. Mix it together and saturate hair with it. Cover your head with plastic cap/bag. Place a hot towel on for 20min. Leave the mix in your hair 30-60min. Do this weekly. Hope this helps:)
Thanks for sharing your journey. I am also transitioning from relaxed to natural. This is my second attempt, went without a relaxer for 1 year and because I didn't know what to do with it(had a wedding to attend) I went straight to a relaxer again and I so regret it. So here I am again...Good luck with your journey and keep the videos coming!!!
Wow...our stories are sort of similar. A week before my BC, I had a wedding to attend and was "advised" to wear my hair straight. I pulled out that serious flat iron though (dreadfully). Anways, Good luck with your journey as well! : )
Neat vid. I too use organix but the tea trea shampoo and the coconut conditioner they smell awesome and leave my hair feeling pretty supple and pliable. How were you able to achieve the curly fro. Was that style a result of the Bantu knots? I just removed my sew in weave and I am looking for a fresh semi facile easy style to maintain for the week .
Thanks! Yea..that organix stuff is great : ) The curly fro was a result of a 4 day old flexi rod set. I just fingered through the curls at my scalp to give it some volume and separated the curls. When I did the flexi-rod set, I was able to keep that style for a week!
You're right. It isn't cheap, but it was inexpensive compared to a lot of other more "natural" shampoos and conditioners that are available. I think it was between 5-6 dollars. Some Walmarts carry it too so you may find it there cheaper.
Just like all the other comments I am in the same boat as you transitioning.. So way to go girl..I'm only in my first month going into my second month which is great. I have not stepped my game up as of yet with the products. keeping it simple for now until I decide to BC..
Well Congrats on making the journey once again, I did the same thing, I have been transitioning for over 9 months now and I love it! Love the Organix and Shea Butter too!
Preparing for the big chop? Be like Nike and JUST DO IT! You've got the support of your family and you're going to look gorgeous. Can't wait to see how it goes. God Bless.
I transitioned for nine whole moths and my mom made me perm my hair. I was so mad. I wish you luck on your journey.

All of your styles looked very very nice on you! :-)
Kookie28Krisp 2 years ago
Thanks! I had my stylist do the weave for me. It was a sew-in weave.

ive decided to go natural after my last relaxer about a week ago.
what exactly does transitioning consist of??
did you just let your hair grow while you had the relaxer, did you put in tracts, etc...???
did you do anything special w/ ur relaxed hair while you were transitioning???

nevermind...target! lol

where can i find the shampoo/conditioner?
peach307 2 years ago
I transitioned for 2 years and just cut relaxed ends off last week. I had to cut much more than I wanted because when I started my transition I was uninformed and was flat ironing consistently so a lot of my new growth was damaged. Congrats on your decision and please check out my vids if you get a chance.

Oh quick question!
Does Sew-in wave damage the hair?
And whats a Whole Food market!
Please reply!
:D
thanks

Hey there, thanks for uploading this video,
I've been transitioning for over a year now and my hair is very, very long. Its about above my bum.(I'm half Filipino)The ends, or the relax hair I could hair is very unhealthy but I'm afraid to cut it because my natural isn't long enough yet ha ha, anyways thanks!

I decided to go natural. I know it will be a journey, but I'm up for it.

pintofowl 2 years ago
The 1st time i did it i was half crazy, just went to the bathroom with a pair of scissors and chopped! I cried the next day cause I thought it was a bad dream, I got over it though.

My hair story is very similar to yours, in that the 1st time I cut my hair and grew it natural I did not know how to care for it and as a result I relaxed it. Afterwards I felt horrible about my decision and wanted to turn back time to get my curls back. Now my hair is still relaxed and long, but very unhealthy. I want to go back to natural, but I keep fighting this war in my head. I'm not much of a cutter, so it's hard to me too.
ladybott5 2 years ago
Yep, that is like mine. Well you don't have to do the BC. I know some girls who have transitioned for more than a year. Let me know if you ever decide to try to go natural!
Nikkimae2003 2 years ago
thanks ma'am! Good luck with the rest of your journey : )
Nikkimae2003 2 years ago
Love that Norman Brown track at the end!! I'm 4 months in my transition process and am SO ready to BC, but am TRYING to go 4 more months. LoL Bantu-knot outs are one of my staples =) Great styles!

Thanks! And norman brown is the truth : ) have fun with the rest of your journey!

This was really helpful, I'm on my second try too. I really wanted people to give products that are sold in easy places, like palces anyone would find easily. So thank you for that :).

I have just started to go natural and I am having a hard time.. Because I am leaving in Europe right now and the water here is very hard. I don't know what products I can use PLEASE If you can help?
quietrain7 2 years ago
quietrain7: I would say try to order things online if possible however, i Know $ is tight for some of us.

LadyOliver 2 years ago
Wow...our stories are sort of similar. A week before my BC, I had a wedding to attend and was "advised" to wear my hair straight. I pulled out that serious flat iron though (dreadfully). Anways, Good luck with your journey as well! : )

What software do you use to create your videos?

I used the latest iMovie
Nikkimae2003 2 years ago
Neat vid. I too use organix but the tea trea shampoo and the coconut conditioner they smell awesome and leave my hair feeling pretty supple and pliable. How were you able to achieve the curly fro. Was that style a result of the Bantu knots? I just removed my sew in weave and I am looking for a fresh semi facile easy style to maintain for the week .
shakeyo1 2 years ago
Thanks! Yea..that organix stuff is great : ) The curly fro was a result of a 4 day old flexi rod set. I just fingered through the curls at my scalp to give it some volume and separated the curls. When I did the flexi-rod set, I was able to keep that style for a week!

You sound like me, 2nd go around at natural, about 3 mos in myself. Good luck and happy growing.
prissyone98 2 years ago
Thanks and the same to you!
Nikkimae2003 2 years ago
how much is the shampoo organix? it wasnt cheap when i saw it
Berri3Blossom 2 years ago
You're right. It isn't cheap, but it was inexpensive compared to a lot of other more "natural" shampoos and conditioners that are available. I think it was between 5-6 dollars. Some Walmarts carry it too so you may find it there cheaper.
Nikkimae2003 2 years ago
Beautiful hairstyles! I really love the curly fro.

Just like all the other comments I am in the same boat as you transitioning.. So way to go girl..I'm only in my first month going into my second month which is great. I have not stepped my game up as of yet with the products. keeping it simple for now until I decide to BC..
toohot2breal25 2 years ago
Keeping it simple is smart! Its way too easy to become a product junkie, lol
Nikkimae2003 2 years ago
Well Congrats on making the journey once again, I did the same thing, I have been transitioning for over 9 months now and I love it! Love the Organix and Shea Butter too!
