  • @olivia717 Alls good! :-) Good know that you got the message and maybe enjoy the album. Take it easy. Cheers. :-)

  • Thank you for posting this. Amazing interpetation. What a version! <3

  • I love Nancy, but this is Dinah's song!

  • The Queen of Class and Phrasing and I will add even though she phrases like no other, you can understand every word. That's what I'm talking about.

  • aretha franklin version is very good also.

  • I love Nancy Wilson...she's a real lady

  • Beyonce, Alicia etcetera ain't got shit on classics divas such as Nancy, Sarah, Nina, Aretha, Gladys and so on...

  • @anatolianINVASION It's such a cliche to eat our young in order to praise the veterans. It simply is not necessary. Besides, Beyonce is a wonderfully talented all around entertainer. There will always be great singers. Nancy is one of the greatest. She had her detractors when she was young too.

  • @TruthSerum101 BLESS YOU FOR THOSE WORDS! Nancy is. Period. Beyonce is who she is and time and talent will write her name in the history books but Nancy Wilson is.

  • @KevinETaylor AGREED!!!!

  • @TruthSerum101

I appreciate talent old and new. There's plenty of talent I believe honestly. But it kind of hurts me to hear Beyonce yell out the word "nigga" on a Kanye west song recently. And besides that looking at how she started of with Destiny's Child on No No No. She had a certain innocence in her voice and image. Looking at her solo work I mainly see an hysteric artist. Remiscing of Madonna's later carreer. The older they get the more clothes they seem to take off. A lack of grace.

  • @anatolianINVASION Tell it!

  • this is the best version !!!! captivating

  • Bette Midler did a killer version of this song.

  • @fstop101 Bette's version is my favorite. It's just her with Barry Manilow on piano and she remains faithful to the melody line, basically "acting" the song.

  • @fstop101

  • She owned that song. Every expression, intonation, fully captured the feeling of this classic.

  • Hi Olivia, the lyrics are by Johnny Mercer and the music by Doris Tauber. Frank Sinatra does a great version too! ;)

  • Sing it for us Nancy!! T'is smooth!!!!!

  • Why did this gorgeous music fade away to be replaced by crude trash - sex orientated? This woman was sophisticated sex on legs. Irreplaceable. The music fiils one's very soul with satisfying vibes.

  • This is great. The maturity of this material is so much beyond today's music.

  • It's the artist interpretation of the song writer's work dipstick; so yes, this is Washington's signature number...but Ms Wilson's interpretation is far superior

  • check out little jimmy scott if you've never done so.

  • Nancy Wilson expresses a song with raw female emotion like none other can. She sings a song like it was a personal experience. Ask A Woman Who Knows.

  • Nancy Wilson is great, but this is Dinah's song. Dinah Washington sang this the best.

  • There is no justification saying miss B sings better than miss A on miss A's platform. No matter how good or bad they are. This rule applies to all categories of song male or female.

  • Agreed Chris. Dinah every time for me with this one.

  • get it, nancy!!!

  • Where can I find I'm "Drinkin Again" by the lovely, brilliant, stunning vocalist Ms. Nancy Wilson? I have searched everywhere. What's the name of the CD?

    Thx. Kelly

  • One of the best female voices in jazz....no doubt......love you Nancy!!

  • More!!!!!! Love you Nancy!

  • That's so pretty. Baby, she could sing to me all day long.

  • Impeccable..

  • I just love Nancy. This song is one of my favorites. A Johnny Mercer tune, I believe. Sinatra sang it beautifully and I think his version is the definitive one but I sure do love this one. Well, I love anything and everything Nancy sings. She's just too marvelous for words!

  • I absolutely love NANCY WILSON. she is the epitome of style and grace.

  • Nancy can identify wth all this stuff....I heard she was a heavy drinker.....great voice !!!

  • So amazing! This is by far the best cover of this song

  • who ever made this a hit that Nancy's version could be called a "cover". Hell, it's not even a "standard".

    ward

  • Take a look at Dinah Washington my friend.

  • @renpop0315 Dinah sings that song from personal experience!!!!! I love Nancy more, but Dinah is very hot.

  • The Fancy Miss Nancy will be at Yoshi's Jazz Club in Oakland June 4-6, 2009

  • such a voice!!!

  • that was Ms. Nancy Wilson!!

  • Her voice is like silk.

  • that's alot of blinking,,,,,,,,

  • Well, it's a lot of intensity. Nancy hits those ballads as if she's giving birth, and that's what takes you on that journey. For my money, she can blink all she wants as long as she keeps singing like that! Just watched the one video and I already feel spent...

  • with a voice like that..and a vocal style like that... she defies imagination.

  • one of the the best vocals i have ever heard.... passion, pain, emotion.... it has it all.... she doesnt just sing, she pours out her heart and makes us all think and reflect.... only the greats can do that

  • Nancy is truly an international treasure and a extremely classy lady. All the young divas should take a LOT of lessons from her

  • Thank you sooooo much for posting this video I watch it at least 3 times a week. So beautiful. We all could use a little Nancy in our lives...

  • love this....thanks for sharing!

  • stellar ... the incomparable Nancy Wilson.

If you ever get to hear her sing Barry Manilow's "When October Goes" it's beyond sublime.

  • no videos of Della Reese singing DRINKING AGAIN? !!

  • can't feel that from the radio ever....i miss what i never had...cause i wasn't born...todays music on the radio is like rummaging through the trash.

  • Classsssssssssssssssssssss

  • Wow, this is amazing. Love Nancy!!

  • This is beautiful

  • anybody know which album this song is from? can't find it anywhere. also, if anyone is willing to share the mp3 version, please send me a buzz.

  • As far as I know, the song is not on any of her albums.

  • @jazzyvocalfan It is on an album. Sorry -- I don't know which one. But I have it on a compilation of her albums. So, it is definitely drawn from her album materials.

  • same here.. i wish it was, very nice version. Aretha Franklin has a version too that is really nice . dont know what album its on .. its from her early days at columbia records.

  • @olivia717 not sure if she recorded it on an album. i think she only did live covers of the song. Johnny Mercer wrote it and Doris Tauber performed it first (if im not mistaken). Two of the most famous album versions were by Dinah Washington, and also Frank Sinatra. Aretha Franklin did a version too, as a tribute to Dinah Washington. Its a great song....a song that many people can relate to.

  • @olivia717 Hey dudette, the song is on an album called 'Midnight Jazz' (2 x CD). It is through EMI GOLD and the cover is of a picture of blue velvet (not the movie). Also the song is sung by Dinah Washington on the album, not Nancy Wilson.

I've attached a link to Amazon to show you the details of the Album.

    I hope this helps you.

    Cheers, from Australia

  • @TheCurrey Thanks so much! You're awesome!

  • @olivia717 Here's the link. Cheer

  • I love. This woman.

  • i've got an amazing version of this song, sung by the incomparable Dinah Washington...

  • That's singing!!

By the way ofeliapazza, could you upload Dinah's version? I'd love to hear it!

I'm sure it's an amazing song!!

  • I'll try to do it, I promise, but I'm not very good at this kind of stuff... I'll let some friend help me

  • Nancy, Nancy, NANCY!!

    :

    :

    :

    Jazz royalty!

  • This song is a continuation in a way of One For My Baby, both songs penned by Mercer. Nancy has always been a favorite of mine, and sings this song with much feeling, however, in my opinion, this tune belongs to Frank along with One for my baby. Thanks for posting!

  • Check out her rendition of "(You Don't Know)How Glad I Am". Pow'ful stuff indeed.

  • Nancy Wilson is in a class all by herself! Tp killerjoebenson:

There are many respectable Black artists who carries dignity and respect. Neo-Soul artists like India Arie, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Angie Stone, Erkya Badu to name a few. The problem is the music industry tries to discredit their Divine talents unless they take off their clothes. These women refuse to do such a thing. These women and others are "Young, Gifted, and Black." They stand on the shoulders of women like Nancy Wilson.

  • Yes, She is fine. Does anyone have the album c.1970's with Long White Room ? Cannot find it. Also, Anyone have her album Moments ?

  • NOW THAT'S HOW YOU SANG A DAMN SONG!

  • Im 21yrs old. I am so thankful i jst stumbled accros this/her. what an amazing voice.

  • Actually, I have just about every album Nancy Wilson has made. (I'm old).

    She does know blues/jazz.

  • I have the Dinah Washington album, "Drinking Again", but Nancy is the greatest. Man she can put down the blues.

  • People like Nancy Wilson, Lena Horne,Ruby Dee are the true Queens of our African American Hertiage but they also transient all races.

    Love our Queens .

  • This is Music at It's BEST! Nancy Wilson will always be one of my favorite performers. Classy in every way and a Noble person to the very soul.SHE CAN down right SANG!!!!:-)

  • This was when truly talented people had stage presence and knew how to work the audience. And Nancy still has "it".

  • Oh what a lady!! She's been my favourite for years not only for her vocal ability but her performances are all heart and soul. Goosebumps!! Thanks for posting it :-)

  • Nancy Wilson would be Cognac if you drank her, verdalee.

  • ihatetrash2007 said it all. I'm "white", whatever that means. I used to respect black people more back in the day than today.

  • excuse me ?

  • EXCUSE ME is RIGHT - what the h-- does that comment from killrjoebenson MEEN?

  • Man Nancy can Bring It! U go girl!

  • she makes me sad for back in the day, when singers sang, and kept there clothes on...true racism was really bad, but in a way it was better we as a people ( black people) appreciated everything that we had, and went to church, and didn't do the things we do and say in public. I'm getting old !

  • I AGREE 100%!!!!!

  • The "Fancy Miss Nancy".

  • Everything Miss Wilson sings is worth listening to. There aren't enough superlatives to describe her talent. She defies comparison.

  • Nancy is just the best to me. She is class and talent.

  • she's always going to be a foxy lady to me with some great pipes!

  • Saw her in Boston, went to her suite. Had the best time. She is an entertainer. Love me some Nancy,

  • this woman is incredible... she makes the skin crawl in sheer pleasure.. and this is a recording. Wow. Imagine her live?

  • If she was a drink I would say she would be a dry martini and I have never even tasted one or maybe she is vermouth and I have never tasted that either.

  • Nancy Wilson is timeless. She's always done her own eccentric thing and she's still doing it. Listen to this sample from 2006: missnancywilson dot com/ music/ TTB_TurnedToBlue dot mp3

  • Dramatic and soulful, this scorching performance show that nobody does it like Nancy Wilson and this awesome concert should be on DVD...also Capitol Records needs to release her extraordinary 70's masterpieces...what are they waiting for? Bravo Nancy!!!

  • Nancy Wilson is my favorite vocalist and she one last grand divas. love her! classy.sexy.elegant.and that voice and style is the shizznit

  • Anybody has her "Forbidden Lover" music video?

  • Combine this singer singing (especially "Love Me Tonight), a dark room, and a sofa and all sorts of magic can happen. I love Nancy Wilson's voice. Talk about memories....

  • I've been a Nancy Wilson Fan since 1963. I still love her but, man, you should have seen her and heard her when she was 25. She's aged well, but well-aged is no comparison for youth and at age 61 I have a right to say that!

  • i have a heart attack every time i hear this woman sing. she doesn't feel a song-she invades it and destroys it and spits it out. 70th b-day 6/29 Carnegie Hall!!!

  • Is anyone going to see her at Carnegie Hall this summer? She is doing a show on her 70th birthday. I can't wait. Never had the chance to see her live before.

  • I'm going to see her 70th birthday celebration at the Hollywood Bowl. I can't wait. She's an American icon.

  • Thanks for the clip !!!!

  • She is soo talented. One of the jazziest jazz singers ever :)!

  • Nancy in prime form. Thanks for posting these clips. I prefer her just like this: on a big stage under the lights, in a beautiful gown, with an orchestra or a big band. She always had the ability to get inside the lyric of a song. Love it.
