@Dungarth I saw Buakaw vs Watson main event live at the Excel stadium in the UK. I have to say he's an amazing fighter and I like him, but to say he would dominate the MMA world is silly. The fighers in the UFC have at least 50lbs over him; they can grapple, lock and pound whereas buakaw has only been trained to deal strikes with his arms and legs. Which facts do you speak of? It just seems like your opinion.
@Dungarth muay thai is one of if not the best stand up fighting art. It's brutal and bone crushing I speak from first hand and Buakaw is a champion but to suggest he would clean out the lightweight division in the UFC is a little presumptious. If he went away and practised wrestling and BJJ for 12 months under good solid teachers at good gyms he'd certainly do okay but the lightweight division in the UFC is pretty stacked with some great standup and grappling fighters. That's a big call :-)

Muay Thai in the UFC is hugely different than muay thai in Thailand. The gloves are smaller, and being put on the ground doesn't mean a referee stand-up, it means you're in a bad position, losing. No one would stand with a man like this. Besides, we already have Jose Aldo...

My favourite fighter, only known about him for two weeks though. I honestly dont know how they can take so many kicks. My first thai boxing class I was kicked twice in the thigh by someone with alot of experience and couldnt walk for two days. Lots of respect to the fighters.
Kicks have no knockout power, leaves himself open for uppercuts constantly, but I like his left hand and his right knees. Overall a very well conditioned Thai boxer. Nothing to write home about.

@dilster5 agreed on the stuff at the top, it IS Thailand's national sport. They even have a holiday for it, no BS. Fighters can go pro in Thailand when they're still in their mid-teens and fight once a month if they want, which is why a lot of the successfull fighters retire by the time their 30.

@Dungarth I saw Buakaw vs Watson main event live at the Excel stadium in the UK. I have to say he's an amazing fighter and I like him, but to say he would dominate the MMA world is silly. The fighers in the UFC have at least 50lbs over him; they can grapple, lock and pound whereas buakaw has only been trained to deal strikes with his arms and legs. Which facts do you speak of? It just seems like your opinion.

@Dungarth muay thai is one of if not the best stand up fighting art. It's brutal and bone crushing I speak from first hand and Buakaw is a champion but to suggest he would clean out the lightweight division in the UFC is a little presumptious. If he went away and practised wrestling and BJJ for 12 months under good solid teachers at good gyms he'd certainly do okay but the lightweight division in the UFC is pretty stacked with some great standup and grappling fighters. That's a big call :-)

Muay Thai in the UFC is hugely different than muay thai in Thailand. The gloves are smaller, and being put on the ground doesn't mean a referee stand-up, it means you're in a bad position, losing. No one would stand with a man like this. Besides, we already have Jose Aldo...

@meadowharris ..Please don't be so naive and foolish, of course if Buakaw entered the world of MMA without learning how to grapple he'd get embarrassed, I've been into MMA since 1998 and I know what would happen. BUT with that said one need only look at the championships won by ex-pro Kickboxers Mirko CroCop, Cung Le and Alistair Overeem to see how well a Kickboxer would do if they trained hard enough...and Buakaw is no different.

My favourite fighter, only known about him for two weeks though. I honestly dont know how they can take so many kicks. My first thai boxing class I was kicked twice in the thigh by someone with alot of experience and couldnt walk for two days. Lots of respect to the fighters.

Kicks have no knockout power, leaves himself open for uppercuts constantly, but I like his left hand and his right knees. Overall a very well conditioned Thai boxer. Nothing to write home about.

You don't think a martial artist from thailand would fight 30 pro bouts? He even did a muay thai clinic at Wat Buddhayan, sugar land, tx. @dilster5 agreed on the stuff at the top, it IS Thailand's national sport. They even have a holiday for it, no BS. Fighters can go pro in Thailand when they're still in their mid-teens and fight once a month if they want, which is why a lot of the successfull fighters retire by the time their 30.
