I always wished I had sent in one of the TV ads from this car dealer in Mount Gambier near where I grew up- Carlin & Gazzard. The owner was a stunt-driver and one of his ads had him driving a vehicle around his car-yard on two wheels!
My older brother used to play for South Bendigo football club and they beat Sandhurst FC in the local league final back in the early 90s. Coming back on the plane from their end-of-year trip to Sydney, they noticed that Tony Martin was on the plane. The whole team started singing 'We beat Sandhurst Machinery' to this tune. In my brother's words, Tony Martin 'laughed politely'.
I think anyone who owns a business might be afraid of making a jingle for their ad on a TV. I wonder what the employees from Sandhurst Machinery feel about their ad shown on the late show.
if it's in Bendigo, local businesses wouldn't mind at all, I'm sure Sandhurst Machinery would have a boost in their business after this aired on the late show, it's (1) free advertising and (2) it was on the ABC (screened everywhere in Australia, and no commercials) it's adspace money just cannot buy! Lots of Bendigo adds have jingles such as this one, just go there turn on 3BO or Star FM or watch Prime, WIN & SC10 and you'll know why!

I used to live in the Bendigo TV viewing area and I still scarily enough remember those Bendigo ad jingles: Sandhurst Town, Proud's Audio World, Ron Poyser Holden, Harrington and North Tyres, Domenic's hairdressing, Bendigo Mower Service, Channel 8, Centre State Radio 3BO, Wavell Dawson Car Sales, Marong Village (now Lansell Plaza) the list goes on!
I may have vaguely remembered the chemist guy. Also there's: Car Part Recyclers, Provincial Motors, Bendigo Football League "B-F-L", John Martin's Music Studio (that's actually Swan Hill but is in the viewing area at the time)
thanks for posting! Bendigo IS the home of music. You need to hear the many ad jingles on 3BO, Star FM and the local tv networks to prove this. The voice of the actual ad reminds me of a cross between Wierd Al Yankovic and Ren Hoek (Ren & Stimpy).
