Young says "we have had a lot of bad theology that have created a god that is not on our side"
yes Bad Theology is why we have so many cults like Mormonism and Jehovah Witnesses. Young says our understanding of the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) is too hard to understand so Paul creates a Heretical story redefining the real nature, characteristics and attributes of God, to somehow clear things up?
Young's is guilty of breaking the first 2 commandments...
2. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
the fact that the book is labeled "fiction" is irrelevant. the author could have written a fictional book that did not contradict scripture. i understand that this book is inspirational, but christians are not called by God to be inspired. we are called to glorify Him.
Anyone with intellect realizes that God did not give it to them and they also recognize this book for the piece of supermarket shelf trash it is. I am an atheist and I read the book from cover to cover because I made an agreement with a Christian friend. It was comparable to choking on vomit without spitting it up. It wasn't the subject matter as much as the absolutely horrible writing that made this such a chore. BTW, Christian friend has not upheld her end of the bargain. Surprised? Not I
People need to learn how to stop glorifying things that they don't agree with or don't like. I'm an openminded person who has gained insight from the bible, Buddhist books, tao books and authors that Opera has promoted. Now because of all the hype about the shack I want to read that too. If people didn't put some much energy into talking about the shack (whether it be good or bad) I wouldn't want to read it so bad. The people who speaks down on the book promote it more harder then anyone.
What was the point of this video?? The fact that Oprah fans like the book and are avid fans is a testament to problems with the book. My rule of thum: if Oprah and her fans rate it #1, then there's probably a problem. Best spiritual rule: If Oprah believes it, believe the opposite...you'll do ok then. :)
Yeahh, i was on the really sad part and i looked on the back and it said FICTION i mean boo that was sucky cuz i thought it was true. heyy i wouldnt have cared if they just lied :P
Everyone who is reading this comment, please click on my username for my videos I made about the The Truth of the World. I have found out what the truth of life is, the truth of the world, and the truth of God. Please, I really want people to watch and listen what I have to say. No more living in false reality, no more living in illusions, no more thinking there is no way out......its time to lead your life into The Truth of the World!!!!!!!!!
I know the problem with people is that they TALK things to death! Look very close to a flower Up close people may think fuzzy and furry mainly dark drab colors. How many people would say its ugly? Pull out farther to see the bigger picture and you see what you hadnt before. A way to see beauty in a completely different perspective. This world lacks sight. No one can tell me God isnt speaking to us thru this book. A work of Fiction I think NOT. If God touches you there is no fiction only Truth.
@Mokkashe Yeah, the person who wrote the titan thought He was writting fiction too, but sometime later people built the Titanic turns out the fiction revealed what was to come true in the Titanic.
If you loved The Shack, you should really check out Gita Nazareth's Forgiving Ararat, as this book too explores themes of judgment and forgiveness in the face of violence. As a fan and publicist for this book, I'm interested to see what parallels are drawn between the two.
Hiearchy and superiority is all I smell and feel when I come into contact with religion - not to mention the money grab. All Young was doing was giving a tangible feel to the the road of forgiveness and salvation and this is wrong how? How exactly do you communicate with God? The routine you favour has gotten us NOWHERE. You can't stand the fact that relationships are the key to our deeper understanding - it's too much like work...
@zaxmacks I agree. It's wrong when people say, "I realize it's fiction, but it taught me so much about my relationship with God (doctrine) and who God really is (theology)."
There is a stark difference between , Reading the Bible and Understanding the bible through prayer and studious dedication to studying the Bible. Please understand that the Bible is a tool that is meant to inspire our being and to guide and direct our lives, not a tool for argumentative purposes between ourselves.
It's not a bad book, but if you take it literally you run into trouble. I realize he wrote The Shack for his kids, and that's great, but it's FICTION and we need to approach it as a fiction book.
Thats the danger of it. As with any thing, books, movies, etc. Fiction can be taken to heart and begin to twist truth. Concerning Christ, fiction should never be told. Souls are at stake.
Its ok to tell that Jesus is a "brother" who submits to "you?" Fiction may convey that the characters are fake but the meaning is real. This is false teaching and another tool for the devil.
@rustysruger You do realize that everything you've just used to tell us this had it's beginning in NO other place but that evil realm of imagination, right? Keyboard, desk, language (debatable), YouTube, ect... Don't use the evil devices to communicate the evil of the devices you're using, please. Thank you, God bless.
@rustysruger My point before wasn't that the devices (themselves) are evil; and I apologize for referencing it that way. However, I think you've misunderstood me. You must ALWAYS use your imaginative state of mind when even deciding (How) to use these devices. Example; you could have worded your statement differently. Emphasizing specific words or phrases, (as I'm doing now). Or you might have done something more profound than that. (Point) You used your evil imagination to tell me it's evil.
@rustysruger But in all honesty, I know what the verse means. The curse of man wanting to be his own God will do nothing but corrupt the entire being. This includes our imagination; and since we're born into a world of independence and sin, it's a given that we inherit the evils of sin; one must be born again. I do apologize if it had seemed as though I wanted to argue. I really, really don't. I assure you. Just thought I would point something out so others understand. Thank you, sorry again.

@watchthefaithrain No I think you've got it wrong...
Devices aren't and indeed can't be evil in and of themselves...
Its the wicked heart of man who devises evil uses of them...
Man has never invented anything that he sooner or later had not used for wicked purpose....
