A Great film by all aspects (including the song)! the most powerful idea about death i ever seen. We desperately need "Nobody", death is a strange place. The turning point of our lives comes with a sound shot almost always but we rarely listen. Nobody is the inner voice on our side, to help, calm and prepare us to go with it
"The Round Stones Beneath the Earth", theme used on the beginning and ending credits. It wasn't included in the soundtrack CD but released as a promo single. There much confusion around this, so it would be good if you add this info in your description
I wish I had seen Dead Man on the big screen. I just watched it on DVD, which I do not recommend, because the guitar is too loud. Perhaps you don't notice it in a movie theater, because of the big, high quality speakers. But at home, the volume of the music is three times that of the dialogue. You gotta keep turning it down when Neil noodles, then up again when there is dialogue.
"Every night and every morn, some to misery are born. Every morn and every night, some are born to sweet delight. Some are born to sweet delight, some are born to endless night." William Blake from "Auguries of Innocense".
@GreatKiskadee Top 3 for me! The Sacrifice and The Seventh Seal the other 2.I could never imagine that so many people actually feels the same way. I feel much less like:
Johnny reads William Blake in this piece. The movie parallels His character William Blake the accountant with William Blake the artist, visionary. A must see "cult" film by director Jim Jarmusche.
@jfly235 the character William Blake's life doesn't really parallel the life of the poet, but I agree this is cult film that towers & should be seen by more people. Namaste
Sorry. I'm not sure where that came from. It's worth paying money to buy it and watch it from the comfort of your LayZBoy and some brownies is what I really meant to say.
People, in the not so distant olden days, had collections. They would bring old shit back from far away places, and put it in their dusty libraries. Or they collected allies. Or rocks. Everyone had some sort of 'collection.' Collections are things you can touch and see and feel, and you connect with them.. Today a collection is just an IPod list of songs. Start your own library of old shit, and make this movie the first piece you buy, then build on it.
@barriehomeboy I made that comment on a video that I saved a long time ago, and it was lost from my youtube favourites list for a long time. Then there you are responding to it. I lose shit on youtube all the time. I don't understand this site, but I love that I can find obscure music here, even if I can't find it again when I save it. Life isn't perfect. Why does youtube have to be, eh?

This movie is very important to me. I had a deep, inner and strange feeling when I saw it. For the first time in my life, I was able to say what's happening in the movie before seeing the scene. If I could live in far west, I'd beheave as Johnny. Unfortunately, this moving film is the story of my life.
Thank You - This movie is so heavy & a breaking off point for Johnny where he decided to only go for parts he thought were cool not just jumping at whatever came his way and Griecoing his future. I love this story and can't believe it's so hard to find. Only real Depp fans here
I've never heard a more suiting soundtrack than the original though. Go see the movie! It's simply great! Maybee you'll agree Neil Young's music is essential for the 'mood' of this movie.
the top movie of all time. a masterpiece. that's what you get when you put the best actor and the best musician together. my favorite to watch when i'm stoned...or anytime, really!
Great metaphore of the american West from the Native american point of view, Johnny Depp mistaken for William Blake, the favourite white poet of Indians makes his journey to the afterlife and the mad world is heading for doom, Movie is amazing and music just couldnt be better, Real masterpiece
8i agree my man!!! the transformation of william blake as the film progresses is simply amazing, and the final sequence when he's experiencing a transcending truth (when he sees the indians in the village/over lapped with neil young's sound track is beyond description)
Its a very good movie, but the scene when the man who is after william splatters the head of man, that does kind of takes down the movie a bit in my opinion

wow great video. havnt seen the movie but now realli want to ^_^ mmm johnny depp and he is a great actor and i love love love the song! does he die at the end then in the boat?

Such a great film. Bought it last year. seen it countless times. It's like a long short film if you get me drift. True genius. Does anyone find the train guy freaky (he's also in Gilbert grape)?
