However, this film was made in the 1960s during the Cultural Revolution when the country was still reeling from the madness of the past. My parents endured the insanity of the Cultural Revolution and the Great Leap Forward. My grandfather was sent to 10 years in slave labor prison camp simply because he proposed a solution to the famines of the 1950s that the government found to be offensive to their tastes.

I am a quarter way through the documentary. Its surprisingly accurate only missing a few minor details. I am impressed. Anyways, a lot of ppl blame China's down fall during that era on the weak n selfish last emperor of China. The effects of their mistakes n terrible decision making are still relevant in CHina today. This is the reason Y is CHina a developing country instead of a industrialized nation. The Last emperor basically opened the door 4 foreign invasion n colonization.
