  • i use to live in this very barrack as child and played in the basement on various occasions,

yes , i did see apparitions at one time time ...but it was a positive experience

  • I cannot understand why the people responsible do not allow ghost hunters inside to investigate. The break in's would come to a halt if we were allowed to disprove the existence of ghosts inside.... It would at least put the facts or myths to rest. If there is nothing to hide, why do they constantly deny us access? On top of it all, this video was shot during daylight, they should have shot at night, around 2 or 3 am maybe?

  • hahha u guys broke in! iv always wanted to get into them

  • I lived on base from 79-85. It's sad it shut down, I had such a good time growing up there. Their used to be a baseball field where I first learned to play the game. My mom also worked at the base daycare which was a little farther down the same road. I can remember us kids being scared of the place because we heard it was haunted. Maybe one of these days I can make it back to NY and show my kids where I lived, grew up and went to school. I have a lot of good memories of Plattsburg.

  • idk... i have live here in plattsburgh my whole life...pfab was such a beautiful bases with one of the largest landing strips in the u.s. what gets me is the history that this little town has, and it doesnt do anything to advertise it or protect it, although it says it does. It really is an awful thing as such a remarkable building to just sit there and rot... Plattsburgh needs to realize it has more potential than that. It def does.

  • haha i used to live about 2 mins walk from there. me an a couple of friends tried breaking in, but there are sooo much layers of plywood now.

    ah well. maybe laters. lol

  • The red wall hospital story is made up, inspecting the paint shows it's a single layer of modern latex paint. My guess is someone painted it red to make the story seem legitimate. I've spent time in there, but I do a lot with the local museums. I've also helped re-secure the plywood after break ins. What personally irks me is the amount of people the try to break in order to live out some story they read on the internet, when the story was entirely made up to begin with.

  • There is a lot of historical significance to the building. The last thing that needs to happen is for a thrill-seeker to get hurt or burn it down accidentally. Just because it's old doesn't mean people don't care about it, and there are a number of people that work hard to see the thing not destroyed. If you really want to find out about the Old Stone Barracks, don't just break in, look up the Battle of Plattsburgh Association and give them a call or e-mail.

  • i officially shit my pants. in a good way!

  • i grew up there but left after college before the base shut down. is there much to the waterfront the base was on? i always wondered how much more fun the town might have been without the base (otoh the pafb brats held the best paties; crazy but sort of quiet unlike the frats)

  • very cool. hellacious furnace... a sleeping old gothic servant. what's the lore about the red wall? and were you running at the end? we did so much exploring of abandoned buildings when we were kids, it was terrifying and exciting... great adventure. being in those places you can kinda almost sense something... like life going on around you... but if you think abt it too hard you'll start hearing & seeing things. ;) i imagine if those walls could talk, they'd have many stories to tell.

  • nice vid. I live in Plattsburgh myself and have also broke into the old barracks. I filmed it too, but we unfortunatly lost the vid. We were the first to atempt to break in i belive because it was back in 2003. We had to break through 3 layers of plywood to get into the basement window. The red wall is def real, I saw it with my own eyes. Props on getting back in there and putting it on the web.
