  • @jvolstad. I am a realtor too. It happened recently to a client of mine that he decided to keep his top price for himself. He was involved in a multiple offer situation, and HE LOST the house BECAUSE he did not disclose his TOP PRICE he would be comfortable to go with.

When he learned that the property was sold ONLY for $X over the asking, he was upset. We can only protect the BEST INTEREST of the client if it IS disclosed. We do not have any interest to know it other than to negotiate

  • You are missing the point. Don't tell a Realtor anything about what you can or can not pay for a house. That applies for both a listing agent and a so called buyers agent. All "secrets" are then safe.

  • Secrets? Like what? What I would be willing to pay? Here is a idea. Don't tell a Realtor anything.

  • @jvolstad Thats exactly the point jVolstad! Perfect response. With a professional real estate agent working for you under contract, I don't and won't tell anyone anything about your financial capacityor how much you intend to pay. I think that is much better don't you?
