Irvine was a good driver, but at the same time he was a jerk. He constantly pulled shit lime this to piss people off, and I can understand why Senna punched him in the face.
Alot of comments here that Villeneuve couldn't do it with a crap car. I beg to differ, he consistently put the BAR in the points in the opening season for the team only to be let down by mechanical fails.
And in 98 He constantly put his shockingly poor Williams amongst the McLarens and Ferrari's, with Frentzen who was no slouch 4 or 5 places behind him..
Villeneuves biggest problem was the fact he just lost motivation for the sport he belived it should be about the driver and lose all the aids
i think jacques was good, but jenson button like good, when he had the car that nobody else could even touch, because let's face it, nobody could beat those williams, what was always hard for me to see him all that great was just cause i'm such a fan of his father, think he was one of the best ever, one of the ballsiest drivers for sure, and jacques didn't have that in my opnion, but he was very good.
1997 proved one thing, that he won with the best package, logical, and he laminated Frentzen? Big deal, Frentzen was a really weird egg, inconsistent and totally asleep. Then, after 1997, Villeneuve really showed how much of a total asshole he was by doing nothing, and having the stupidity to mega-inflate his market value. So much, that he simply got kicked out of F-1 in 2006, bravo.
like i said, good enough with the best car, but not at all like gilles, certainly not one driver who could get interesting results from a bad car, just see the 2009 season, fisichella and badoer couldn't do the same results as massa was doing...
I disagree with people who claim that Badoer had always been a bad driver. He was driving in 4th position in a Mindardi on Nürburgring track back in 1999 before having a technical problem...plus he was 3 positions ahead of his teammate Marc Gené. As for Villeneuve: An average driver who just like Hill got the chance to drive the best car and thus won.
@WeDieYoung1083 What about Damons ALMOST victory at hungary, with an Arrows, one of the worst cars around at that time. Only a mechanical failure stopped him from winning in the last lap, where Jacques overtook him. That was really really special, I think.
@Roguirio Unfortunately, any respect Damon can be given after he left Williams is spoilt by the fact he went to Arrows for the money. 96 Williams was a lot like 07 McLaren, a groomed driver and an ego in the best car - sadly the best driver on the grid wasn't at a reliable team that year.
He got put in the best car on the grid and got beaten by an inferior car and matched by a rookie then the car got better, same thing, then the car got even better and the competition disappeared completely, and he won. Did you see his performances in lower teams after he was sacked
@itsinthegameAI The only reason why Damon Hill won the championship was because Schumacher decided to move to Ferrari and build up the team in 1996. Damon made WAY TO MANY MISTAKES to be called a superior driver. He basically threw away the 1995 championship because of stupid mistakes eventhough the Williams FW 17 was much faster than the Benneton B 195. I really don't like schumi either because of his dirty driving techniques but thats how it was in the 90s.
Villeneuve was a fantastic driver at the start of his F1 career nearly winning the title in 1996 and winning it in 1997. However it all went downhill from there. From what I remember big salaries were more important that winning races after 1998.
jacques- great first bit of career, stupid last 2/3rds in mediocre cars, however u cant call any WC a shit driver thats insane! even if they have the best car which sum1 else supposedly developed, no one does it all by themselves! im sure if u gave him the chance he would have invented the f1 technologies and infrastructures lol and built the cars by hand and layed the tarmac on spa using a trowel!
Lol he was good because he had the absolute best car in 96-97, and after he faded because the only thing he remotely knows how to do is turn a wheel...and even though, he lost that in nascar, just look at him today, what is he doing???NOTHING.
hi lazer it seems as though u post on every single vid i look at lol! u are really not a JV fan, a lot a reasons for that, though u think he was mediocre?
Sorry, but I can't really agree that Jacques was such a bad driver as everyone is making him out to be. For one, he did win the championship, and even with the best car it can be lost, but you also have to remember his start and how young he was when he won the Cart championship. It's true that his career afterwards was not the brightest, but he got a couple of high finishes with bad cars. And currently he is doing well in LeMans, notably a second place finish in the 24h race.
It's not that he's a bad driver, but his bad choices made him look soo bad that everybody remembers him for that instead of his good drives, but he's a good person despite his racing career..
Villenuve was a CART champion when he came to formula 1. Anyone who dimisses him as a very good driver (not saying he was the best of all time) is a coplete idiot and biased.
If you take the time to analyse his career, it's all to clear to see that ll he achieved was with the best car available, anybody can do this with the best, but the second he got in a lesser car....well if you don't see this, then you are the idiot.
I did say that i didn't consider him to be the best driver ever but certainly a very good driver. History is littered with drivers who could not get the job done even with the best car so let's not just use this as criticizm. My point is that he's a very good driver who possesed some outstanding qualities and on his day to be able to beat the best of the best. He certainly did this in both Cart and F1.
When you are good or very good, you remain so until the end of your career, like Schumacher. Villeneuve was just able to drive the best car, not develop it, and this flaw showed up dramatically after 1997. He had the chance to drive a top car in 2004 with the Renault, but he failed that also. The proof that any driver can dish out with the best car, just remember Mika Salo in Germany in 1999...
I agree the Jaques was not a car developer, he'd just drive the car, pretty much like a Raikkonen or even Hakkinen. These guys rely more on the team doing the set up unlike Schumacher, Senna or Prost. However in the right car he was a very good driver and a great overtaker. By the end of his career he was no longer at his best but this does not take away from his early F1 and Cart.
@ursulica56 hakkinen was a very technical guy. although not to the point of schumacher and senna but hakkinen was definately a guy who took interest in his car set-ups.
Badoer è stato campione kart 1986-87-88 e campione F.3000 battendo molti che poi sono diventati "grandi" in F1...I don't think Badoer is shit...schumy consider him such the best test driver in the world..
they both suck, but i'd like to say that so far the champion of punching eddie irvine is senna! if i ever see him i'll punch him too.. he couldn't even win the title when schu broke his leg against a jordan! he had no place in f1 and did nothing at least jaques won something while sucking!
Irvine, a complete asshole. Villeneuve, won because he drove the best car, and after that, NOTHING. In a nutshell, both were absolute undiluted assholes period.

Sohkab, where have you been all my life!!!Man, spot on about Villeneuve, the lucky one who was stupid enough to flush his career down the toilet, and Irvine, the absolute king of jerks, not an ounce of talent, just another puppet to partner cheating Schumacher to make midget Jean Todt smile and have a boner.
I still remember Irvine having a go in the last part in Argentina GP. I attended the race in the motordrome that day, Irvine with Ferrari, Villeneuve with Williams. One more lap, and Irvine would have won the race. In fact, Irvine after pits stops preserved his tyres (in Lauda's or Prost's fashion that day) while Vileneuve made it on his own fashion. The result: Villeneuve destroyes his tyres and finished the race with a slow puncture, while Irvine challenged him, being near to win. Same skills.
a ya sure....villinueve qualified 1st in his first race...and if team orders was not enforced in his first season,he would have won his first year in f1...but anyway, lets not 4get somethings,,,and to the haters, watch ur words when responding to my comment....notice i didnt call out any names....

What are you, his uncle fat bitch...Are you injured asshole? If you think that Villeneuve is a great driver, then you have issues pork. It has nothing to do with the guy himself. He was an average driver, nothing special, and if you can't see that, then you know absolutely shit about motoracing you fat slab of canadian shit. Get your head out of your ass. Nascar....RFLMAOFF...turning left for 500 miles and you masturbate on that, you would you drained out sodomite, so shut your cake hole faggot.
Villeneuve's carrer is well documented, all there to read. Before Indy, his career was a waste, but his illustrious name opened doors for him. He was lucky that Tortora, a journalist that is a family friend made a phonecall that got his formula antlantic drive real and that snowballed him straight into indy cars. Ok, the Indy race was a great one but F-1 was good to him in 96 and 97 because he sat his ass in the best car, and covered 12000 miles of testing too.
And when Williams lost Renault and Hill, all went to shithouse for him because he just can't developp a car, technically a lazy driver. The BAR episode, in which he allowed Pollock to naively drag him into what was a fiasco, finally got kicked out of f-1, he was way overrated as a driver, the proof?????He can't drive a stockcar straight, arrest my case.
I admit his car development skills werent as good as other drivers. And he messed up big time at BAR (even though in 2000-2001 he was turning that sinking ship round). But he had no chance in his last year at Williams and he still pushed Hill all the way in 1996. I also cant disagree the name got him somewhere. But then you could say the same about Hill in the same respect and yet noone questions his calibre. Also stockcar racing seems to be a lot harder than we give credit for..
Once again, you make sense rossmith, but Hill was a methodical and capable test driver, that could developp a car and that is what Villeneuve got in 96 and 97.
I love most Canadians, great people. Always some bad eggs like this little pig face.
I saw him leaving an accident where his idiotic actions killed a marshal once. I did yell "fucknut" in his direction but instead of having a comeback he pissed off on a little scooter like the girls dick he is.
Unless your a spoilt little rich fucking brat whos muma shoulda slapped you in the face as a kid what do you have in common with pig face Jaques?
You say he became world champion just cause he had the best car...So what?No F1 champion is a bad champion. And Kacques career was ruined because of BAR.And Im a Schumi fan!
Yes and no... Bar ruined his career, but he is the one who started bar... He was driver and director (that's what stand on his two paycheks...). I never liked him because he was more into money than racing, like Ralf Schumacher... And that's really to bad because both weren't that bad ! They just didn't love racing like shumi, hakinnen, or even raikonnen !
Un soir j'ai vu un esprit. Il m'a dit " tu vas mourir " et il a disparu. Maintenant que vous avez lu ça vous allez mourir dans 3 jours exactement sauf si vous mettez ça sur 50 videos, c'est pas de moi.
then when he went to australia and it was schumachers turn to do eddie a good turn they blamed eddie for running hill and villenauve of course, well done schu:)
Villeneuve has to be one of the biggest jokes in f-1 history. He was lucky enough to drop straight in the best car, then moped around and stupidly commited to BAR. He doesn't have any testing talent, basically a very lazy driver. In a phrase, he simply took his racing career and flushed it down the toilet. I challenge anybody to prove me wrong.
I agree... I think Damon was quite better than him, who in fact wasn't a bad tester, with Ayrton dead, he put Williams team on his shoulders and managed to regain the lost ground at the beginning of 1994, being almost champion. Jacks Villeneuve was an asshole, and I don't challenge you on that topic, because I'd lost it, lol, he sucked...... What I didn't understand is why Damon was replaced for that clown H. H. Frentzen, being this latter a TOTALLY disaster.....
Irvine was a good driver, but at the same time he was a jerk. He constantly pulled shit lime this to piss people off, and I can understand why Senna punched him in the face.

And Kacques career was ruined because of BAR.And Im a Schumi fan!
schumisatokubica 3 years ago 3
Yes and no... Bar ruined his career, but he is the one who started bar... He was driver and director (that's what stand on his two paycheks...). I never liked him because he was more into money than racing, like Ralf Schumacher... And that's really to bad because both weren't that bad ! They just didn't love racing like shumi, hakinnen, or even raikonnen !

I challenge anybody to prove me wrong.
lazerpod66 3 years ago
