  • Best part-

Knox: Question. How do we call him?

Gordon: He gave us the signal!

    FUCK YEAH!

  • This music makes my heart flutter, one day I will have my dark knight *sigh*

  • Best end to a movie ever.

  • Michael Caine, you may be good, but Michael Gough is the best Alfred ever.

  • I love that image of Batman on the roof with the bat signal. I have that as my desktop. So bad ass.

  • nice music towards the end!

  • [[2:16]] I am Vengeance. I am the Night. I..AM..BATMAN!

  • This is so mythological, just like what Batman should be, not the bat family running towards the camera with the bat signal behind.

  • I thought Harvey Dent (Billy Dee Williams) was going to tell the people of Gotham City, "Attention. Attention. The Galactic Empire has taken over our city. All are advised to leave at once."

  • @Milordvega "and don't forget to get an ice cold Colt 45" LMAO

  • @357Franknitty LOL, yeah!

  • AWESOME ENDING, I still get goosepumps hearing it. In the moviehouses in 1989, it just looked and sounded so EPIC. The Dark Knight was great, of course, but the most epic scene to me in all Bartman movies is this ending to the 1989 film.

  • Still getting goosebumps from this music in 2012!!!

  • I get chills every time throughout my body when I hear this ending. It's soo epic and grand but romantic and mysterious.

(btw, am I the only one who dies when the guy says..."he gave us the signal"? LOL XD)

  • @Iheartnihon "he gave us the signal!"

I thought that was the most epic part...

  • @TheDrunkenHer0 ROFL

  • God, this music is so epic!

  • amazing. Nothing more needs to be said.

  • LANDO CADRISSIANT is speaking ?! the black man. The one who played on Star Wars ep 5 and 6 ;)

  • GOOSEBUMPS....ALWAYS GET ME!!!!

  • what's the name of this music?

  • @artmajor1 'Finale', the last track on the Batman (1989) soundtrack. You can find it here somewhere if you look for it

  • Just one more example of how a comic book, a story, an idea - can teach us all what it means to be a hero.

  • @EJNewbury ur right

  • Best bruce wayne, best voice best butler, best theme song, best car , best chicks, best director best script best fucking decade

  • 1 of the best endings in any movie ever

  • timeless classic

  • @Nasoj0Tnek really i whis they make him cool agin

  • the one dislike came from the black joker thug who was tossed down the belltower

  • once the music hits at 1:04 this scene was donned the greatest scene in Batman history!

  • This is how Dark Knight Rises should end.

  • @TheFox251 Exactly what i was thinking.

  • @TheFox251 He already has the bat signal

  • @THEDARKKNlGHT1939 No I mean like, for the ending when Batman gets cleared of the murders and all and is recognized as the true protector of Gotham, they re-established the bat signal publicly like in this scene.

  • @TheFox251 Ah yea that would be sweet.

  • Keaton = Batman

  • Shivers every time.

  • I think I just teared up. Awesome ending

  • mark hamill: joker's voice (animated)

billy dee williams: harvey dent (this movie)

    both from STAR WARS

  • I really wish they would of used Twoface instead of Penguin in Batman Returns.

  • You cant deny that Tim Burton was the man who brought the modern Batman to life, it all went downhill when Schumacher took over the franchise. I always like Michael Keaton in whatever he's in and he still is the best Batman for me but Christian Bale is also doing a fantastic job. I like the way the new Christopher Nolan versions are made a more dark and has a realistic feel to it. The end theme to the original Batman on this video still sends shivers down my spine, Danny Elfman is the best!!!

  • @ 2:10 this should be the ending for The Dark Knight Rises with this theme

  • 0:39 "Han will desactive the shield we must give him more time !"

  • If they pay homage to this ending in the Dark Knight Rises, I will cry of happiness.

  • I was 14 when I saw this ending...my god...I cried and was proud...LOVE BATMAN till my final days.

  • Comment removed

  • That signal is not very energy efficient.

  • The First and Second Batman movies are awesome with Michael Keaton until Val Kilmer and George Clooney became Batman blah!

  • @Richard1222ify Kilmer wasn't a bad actor, he just got stuck with a hack-directed, atrociously written, tasteless landfill of nipple-ridden human garbage and neon Batman movie.

  • best ending

  • i have to say... i am OBSESSED with batman.

  • this movie needs a 2012 or 2013 re release n the theaters, any agree with me? I mean it would be awesome to see this in the cinema again (this movie was released before I was born)

  • @vegettoSSJ3ROCKSS I agree...and why not? since they are starting to do it with older films now and putting them in 3D...why not this film? I would pay to see this movie again if it was put in theaters.

  • It Sends Shivers Down My Spine & I Get Goosebumps Everytime I Watch It. Thumbs Up If You Think This Is The GREATEST & MOST EPIC Ending Ever!!!

  • @jamminwithjam Same here...this scene and Captain America saving the POW and having Alan Silvestri/Captain America March song start playing never fails to put a a chil down my spine.

  • @jamminwithjam you got that right! this is what Batmans all about!

  • @jamminwithjam They just dont make them like they used to :(

  • quality

  • zero dislikes. FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!

  • I like both this, Returns, and the Nolan movies. All of them have flaws, but I like all the movies.

  • @xFIRERUSHx Batman Forever is a good movie too, it have a good balance between darkness and light, and its very funny too, the animated movies are great as well, specially Mask of the Phantasm, Return of the Joker and Under the Hood

  • @vegettoSSJ3ROCKSS You said it, man!

  • The Dark Knight Rises ending has to be this epic. It' got it's work cut out for it.

  • i find batman begins and the dark knight much better than this BUT i still like this movie and glad it happened because it was one of the first superhero movies that wasnt afraid to be dark and it did pave the way for the animated series, which made my childhood. also, the ending freakin owns.

  • HE GAVE US A BILLION DOLLAR SIGNAL...

  • Comment removed

  • @MrImastinker Agreed. I don't think there's a Batman fan in the world who wouldn't be thrilled to see that movie end on the exact same shot of Batman high above the city looking out at the bat signal.

  • Watched this movie so many times as a kid, Id sit in front of the tube on the floor with my diecast Batmobile and Batwing and be in locked into Kid Fantasy Land

Superman Batman Ghostbusters TMNT movies and growing up with the rest of the 90s Cartoons was great

  • Forget all the gritty "realness"

    This is Batman.

  • @ 2:07 should ending like this 4 The Dark Knight Rises and same theme

  • I'm 17 and this is my favorite Batman movie and one of my all time favorite movies. And I didn't grew up watching this movie, and I'm proud of it. Because that makes my decision pure and sincere, without being conditioned by nostalgia or childhood memories. This movie is truly the Best.

  • honestly, if they were to never do another movie after this one, this would've been the perfect ending to the whole series...such a powerful ending with a great score and amazing imagery. i love this.

  • you know what would be soooooooo sick? if chris nolan had this theme at the end of dark knight rises with the same pose as tribute to this! that would fuking awesome!

  • @MrCondor26 That sounds cool...but Nolan doesn't have the heart that Tim Burton's Batman had.

  • Sucks for Christian bale and Christopher reeve since they played DCs top 2 heroes in movies and got stuck with ugly chicks while Keaton got hooked up with basinger and pfeiffer

  • @woodyburns Christian Bale got Katie Holmes in Batman Begins. Not bad at all.

  • @iknownothing34 she's not really that pretty

  • @woodyburns I think she's good.

  • @woodyburns what, Anne hathaway don't count for Bale?

  • @WindOfSolitude she's not ugly but I've seen prettier women

  • @woodyburns Margot Kidder was smoking, are you nuts?

  • @MrImastinker No way, that bitch looked like a baboon

  • @woodyburns I see your point, but Katie Holmes was Bale's girl in Batman Begins. For Christopher Reeve, Superman had Lana Lang played by Annette O"Toole in Superman III and Clark Kent played a girl played by Margaux Hemingway in Superman IV. They were pretty.

  • One of my all time favourite films ever, the best Batman film of all time

  • HE GAVE US A SIGNAL!!!!

  • @tninbredretard (epic music)

  • Chris Nolan should definitely steal this ending for Dark Knight Rises. As a die hard Batman fan i wouldn't feel the least bit offended if he did so thats how good and epic that final scene with Batman watching over Gotham city really is!

  • @munster9001 So true.

  • Only thing that could make this any better is if Batman at the ending of the finale as the cameras rise, uttered "I am Vengence, I am the Night...I am BATMAN!"

  • LOVE THE ENDING MUSIC

  • BEST BATMAN MOVIES..

BATMAN , BATMAN RETURNS,, BATMAN FOREVER, THE DARK KNIGHT

I DIDNT LIKE GEORGE CLOONEY AS BATMAN

  • @Robkobejack noone did. lol

  • batman forever and batman and robin was garbage...

  • Great ending, but why does she call Knox Elliot?

  • @consoler3 I think she calls him "Aly" short for Alex or Alexander.

  • SO FRIGGIN EPIC!!!

  • This scene alone is synonomous with my childhood. Every single time, the score never fails at giving me goosebumps and taking me back to that exact moment of me sitting on the floor of my parents house in awe. Absolutely amazing, and epic ending to a great film. Easily Tim Burton's greatest. The atmosphere, the characters, everything. Big ups to Danny Elfman. I'm sure if the score was different, it wouldn't have had such a lasting impression.

  • You said it brother. I would have to stand on the family room couch for this moment every time, watching it on our 25", wooden TV. Still get the goosebumps today. We can thank the late legend Maurice Murphy, principal trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra for his thrilling High Ds at the end of this one. Same guy who manned the brass sections for all 6 Star Wars, Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark FYI.

  • BATMAN 1989 is and will always be the surperior batman movie!!!!

  • Knox: Question, How do we call him?

Gordon: He gave us a signal!

Knox: (Should have said) So we can only call him at night?

  • This Final is a masterpiece!!

  • Press 8 for epicness.

  • @horaciosi Actually, press 7 for epicness.

  • This was good, Batman Returns a little less.

Batman Forever was crap, Batman and Robin was, hmmm....

Batman Begins was very good, Dark Knight is a masterpiece.

  • @liprandi Agree but i think batman returns was equally as good as this film.

  • The movie is as old as me. Lol.

I first watched it when it came out in a VHS collection of Batman movies including this one, Batman Returns, and Batman Forever.

Now that I'm 22 and have all those same Batman movies on DVD, I continue to watch 'em over and over again as I did as a kid. They will never get old to me. Greatest Batman movies ever!!!!!!!

  • So epic the bottom of my feet got goosebumps!

  • I just watched this again about a week ago and I have to say that it is a great Batman film. I like how this Batman fight compared to the others.

  • great ending with a breathtaking and emotional sound in the backround...... a huge fan from italy

  • I remember renting a VCR just so I could rent the VHS of this.

  • This is the best Batman end of story. Ledger has been lionized for what was a better than average but not stunning performance. Either way, there is SO much time wasted in Dark Knight and Batman Begins with all the worthless woe is me whining and 30 minutes of origin story. Also the ENTIRE two face portion of the movie is WORTHLESS. It feels so tacked on, as if they felt like the joker wasn't enough. Then, to top it off, the scene with the boats at the end was awful and unnecessary.

  • that final shot of Batman, will probably be my biggest childhood memory of all time!

  • "he gave us the signal!"... 1:02 to 1:12 that does it for me...

that brief flourish captures of the innocence of the comics...

a worthy ending to a great flick...

    --Mike

  • From 2:03 to the ending, I remember rewinding that over and over again when I was a kid so EPIC!

  • @W4RLoL87 Yeah, now we can click 2:03 over and over again. This still beats the new Batman in my book any day of the week. I just wish Batman and Robin had been this good.

  • Best Batman

  • "please inform the citizens of gotham, that gotham city has earned a rest from crime. but if the forces of evil should rise again, and cast a shadow on the heart of the city, call me"

"question: how do we call him?"

    "he gave us the signal!"

    cue epic music

  • This movie is amazing compared to that piece of SHIT known as the dark knight

  • @MrOiManDudeGuy You are an idiot.

  • Thumbs up for BATMAN!

  • One of the best ending scenes in superhero history, especially the music in the end.

  • definitely one of the best endings i've ever seen in a movie! the look, the sound, and the feel just goes together perfectly. hats off to tim burton for directing such a great movie, to michael keaton for portraying both bruce wayne and batman awesomely(no matter how short you are), to jack nicholson for an awesome portrayal of the joker, and to danny elfman for creating a score that just fits well w/the movie. and this ending theme is proof of that...

  • man that theme tune is too badass to explain

  • Yes, let's have a press conference to applaud the masked vigilante who took the law into his own hands to play judge, jury, and executioner, therefore making all our jobs moot.

And then they act surprised when he appeared to have gone batshit blood-thristy in the sequel. They're such blistering idiots, it's no wonder they need a man in a cape to rescue them.

  • @multitudeofidols

    It's a god damn movie.

  • @multitudeofidols What's wrong with you?

  • The batman 1989 theme song and "like dogs chasing cars" are the most epic theme songs in superhero movie history

  • Ah, the eighties and Bat-Mania...two losses I will never be over...

  • RIP Michael Gough 1916-2011

  • Epic indeed. I saw it summer '89 when I was 12 and for those too young to know this... Batman was absolutely HUGE when it came out. Even bigger than the Dark Knight when it came out. Fans had been begging for a Batman movie for many many years, and finally Burton gave us this. It was a home run. I also remember the VHS release was a huge event as well... a huge campaign for the Christmas '89 season.

  • @dgware You captured it perfectly, my friend. That's exactly how it was.

  • @dgware I wish I could have been there. Im 21 now and have loved this movie since i was 7, and it still has a powerful effect on me

  • @dgware No, it wasn't bigger than The Dark Knight. Dark Knight is #28 all-time (adjusted for inflation) while Batman is #49.

  • @dgware I too remember this well! I was 9 years old in the summer of 89. Me and my grandparents went to the theater with the intention of seeing Honey I shrunk the Kids, however, I through a tantrum and as a result, convinced them to see this for like the 3rd time in a row! Also, it was pretty intense when the action figures were released, you literally could NOT get them anywhere for like the first 2 weeks! However, i hate to say it, but 'Batman' was only half as big as The Dark Knight.

  • @dgware Batman grossed about $250 million at the domestic box office. Dark Knight grossed over $500 million. However, I suppose you can factor in inflation if you want.

  • @dgware

i was 5 when i saw this on Christmas.....AMAZING MEMORIES

u might remember this, but was there a steel Bat Wing toy ???

i just have a vision of a steel toy i had when i was young and all the paint was cracking off it because i kept on chewing it !!! and breaking a window with it.........i think it was the Bat Wing.....

  • @filcom101 Yes I had a steel batman toy too - but it was the one he uses in the sewers

  • @dgware Batman may have seemed bigger because you were 12 . Dark Knight is considered the best superhero movie ever made and did it in an era where superhero movies are ruling the box office . Batman was at best a blockbuster . Batman was the highest grossing DC film until Dark Knight and DK made more money on blu-rays (A harder sell today than VHS back then) than Batman's VHS release . Stop comparing this film to Dark Knight and just let it be what it is .

  • @haibane13 Superman: The Movie. That and the Dark Knight are considered the best.

  • @dgware Didn't fans originally not like the choice of Michael Keaton as Batman because he was originally known for comedy?

  • @jermster17 Boy were their minds changed!

  • @jermster17 they were very upset

  • Batman is better than all of the batman films including batman the movie in 1966

  • he gave us the signal!

    perfect scene... perfect music...

    thx for the upload

    --Mike

  • HE GAVE US THE SIGNAL!

  • AWESOME FIRST TRY! I think BATMAN RETURNS was even better!

  • I will never forget this ending. I was only a year old when this movie came out. I bet this ending in theaters was very epic..gives me goosebumps everytime i watch it. i could imagine if i had seen it at the movies! its awesome...no disrespect at all to the Christopher Nolan Batman films...YES their great BUT..you put the ending to both movies together and they will never touch the epic ending to this! the original Batman that we all grew to love...truly epic!

  • Great Masterpiece

  • Batman is epic! My favorite comic book character without a doubt.

  • "He gave us a signal!" Cue awesome music.

  • i was like maybe 3 or 4 when i saw this in the theatre's, it was my very first movie :)

  • The best ending to any movie, EVER. This has been making the hairs on my arms stand up since I was a kid.

  • must have seen this movie over 100 times when i was 4-7 years old. ah long childhood afternoons :)

  • love the music

  • @rmb5101 its called finale into batman theme reprise

  • I could see UPS or FedEx dropping off that bat signal at the town hall.

  • I wish this scene were a woman...

  • Fucking epic....

  • 2:15 is absolutely epic, this final shot is how every Batman should end...watching over Gotham

  • Awesome, classic film, still the best Batman film in my opinion and best superhero movie ever overall. Cheers!!

  • What a great movie.

  • God, its bullshit that Vicki didn't come back in the second one. Sure, her screaming was mind-grating, but at least she was a fascinating character.

  • @thelupoistheman1 Selina Kyle always has been, and always will be the only woman Bruce Wayne ever loved

    Vicki had to go

at least Bruce mentioned her, and we weren't just expected to pretend she didn't exist

  • @thelupoistheman1 i hated her character they actually intended to bring hey back in returns thank god they didnt
