@ProgressiveAudio You know, being a Russian, I can kind of relate to this Iron Curtain craze that is 70 years old. One of the main reasons the US health care sucks is because people are afraid of a 'socialist/communist agenda' not understanding that Russia was neither communist, nor even socialist at any point - it was a dictatorship. But this is no excuse for denying the undeniable - that the US has the worst health care of all developed countries.
@ProgressiveAudio BTW, have you seen Jon Stewart's interview with Bill Kristol on health care? Bill Kristol, the guy who 'killed' Clinton's health care reform in 1993, states that Americans don't deserve a government-run health care system, because, you see, it's too expensive. Perhaps Bill doesn't know that the current American health care system is the most expensive health care system in the world. Not only that - it stands behind Portugal in world quality ratings! (#31)
@istarninwa I don't watch Jon Stweart so actually no. What happened?
Compared to all the EU members, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand even! Canada and such, the US has a horribly expensive and unequal system. I actually plan to go to Zurich in the future and see how "bad" a heavily regulated health market is. Portugal actually has great health care these days, especially in drug treatment, I'm sure they rank much higher.
@Angelsydeon 1994, to be precise. Still, it is amazing that even with the 'sweeping overhaul' of healthcare passing yesterday, it is very far from the universal healthcare that those other countries have.

I remember this, and sadly it's still relevant. And it's strange this was on mainstream television in the early 90s.

@istarninwa Want to talk about this further? YouTube comments are so restricting.

@istarninwa Oh you're russian? That's hot. When did you move to the US?
I don't know much about that socialist comment, that's kind of like saying a country isn't truly capitalist because it's a dictatorship.
I agree with you on the last system of course.
