These guys are excellent. Do they go through basic training like everyone else? What officer grade are they. Are they enlisted or what.

@steelydad Army Blues and other 'special' bands doesn't have a requirement to attend basic training. They also join the service as a E-6 (staff sergeant, Non-commision officer). They are enlisted soldiers that serve a term by contract.

@canosgmk The only "Special" band that does not go to basic training is the President's Own Marine Band in Washington DC. All the rest attend basic training and are full time in their service.

@canosgmk Yes, all service members for the Premier bands have to go through basic training for their respective services, except for members of The President's Own Marine Band, but they still have to maintain weight standards for the Marine's. In fact, all of the service band members hold other duties, that are not related to music within their respective bands. Navy Band Trumpet player here.
