Just give me the "Way Back Machine" that The Professor & Poindexter used on the "Rocky & Bullwinkle Show" back in the 60's!!! If you remember that you get it! I would use it on a regular basis to take me back to the times when music was true & real, & most ppl wrote their own songs. Makes a BIG difference! At that age I had so many questions, I was so innocent to how mean kids could be. But she knew she had a friend in me and I had a friend in me. The presenters on TOTP especially from the early eighties onwards tended to have a very "tongue-in-cheek" style of commentary, and no offence was meant by this.

Indeed, when I was at Uni in th early eighties, we would have a large gathering in the Union TV Lounge, and great mirth abounded when certain very canny hecklers ran additional commentary for the show. It was plain ol' silly playfulness, and one of the best laughs on campus. It became a weekly event: standing room only!

If you've heard of Top Of The Pops, this clip was taken from the sister show TOTP2, which is a compilation show of old performances, linked together by Wright, he's known for witty things like that too, should check out his current radio show on BBC Radio 2! Top Man Wrighty is, I'm sure James and Carole would have got the joke.
