Before I discovered "Car 54", I only knew him as Herman. It was refreshing to see him in a new light, and in a show that is stil as funny as ever. He was perfect as Muldoon.
A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand
We all laughed so hard, so did my father, sister was so upset she moved out, and now lives somewhere else. Mother in that time did not talk to me. Yep, we were all quarantined. I could see something was happening behind the scenes with these who took liberties, our Captors were beginning to feel ashamed and begun cleaning up their past and present behind the scenes at OUR EXPENSE!
Isn't that life FAKES trying to save face, *they are now facing #.
Wow, your memory was sparked. I remember seeing that episode and laughing and feeling embarassed for Herman but I even thought he looked better with makeup, but I love his experssions. As for my family, I am disowned and my mother notarized a letter that says under no circustances can I attend her funeral. So don't feel bad. PEACE and Herman is great.
i guess this info is true. name: Frederick Hubbard Gwynne Birth: Jul. 10, 1926 New York County New York, USA Death: Jul. 2, 1993 Actor. Well-known for his role of 'Herman' on "The Munsters," and his work on "Car 54, Where Are You?" Author and illustrator of children's books, "The King Who Rained," "A Chocolate Moose for Dinner," and "A Little Pigeon Toad." Cause of death: Pancreatic cancer Burial: Sandymount Methodist Church Churchyard Sandyville Carroll County Maryland, USA
You forgot Disorganized Crime and glad to at least see him in The Boy who Could Fly, but I think one of his best later works was in Disorganized Crime. I also like Fred in Car 54 Where Are You and Grandpa Al Lewis was also in Car 54 as well. The history of how the Munsters came to be was just amazing and I'm glad they accepted Yvonne Di Carlo. Too bad the Munsters only saw a short run. Very good series.
to X23109-- in my 1st comment, i was just pasting some short info that i found in wikipedia. gwynne also played in "pet sematary", "my cousin vinnie", "the littlest angel", and so forth. i grew up watching him play herman munster in re-runs in the 1970s, and i had a hard time thinking of him as any other character, yet i later saw him play as francis muldoon on car 54, and that was pretty good as well.
CG, I do remember Car 54. I liked the episode where Muldoon and Toody switched partners. Muldoon scared his new partner just being silent and Toody just wouldn't shut up. That was a funny one. I remember Gwynne especially for Disorganize Crime though and he did an excellent job in that one. Glad he could find work beyond the Munsters. I think everybody from the Munsters cast really made out well and found there nitches post sixties.
Yeah not being in makeup could afford him a little more movement on the set. It was probably a relief for him to be out of that Herman Munster getup for that episode.
Actually, I'm probably as old as any of you posting here and I DO remeber seeing this scene in its entirety when I watched the show in reruns as a kid (in the early 70's). It was never cut out, unless you guys are referring to the original airing in the 60's.
Yes, original airing from 1960's it must have been cut out, it's just too too sexual!!!! But I don't remember seeing it like this as a kid, or maybe I didn't think anything then. Whatever the facts, it's wild!
YES, big time! He gets hit by lightning and we see him without any makeup in a dark suit. That is what he really looks like without makeup and costume, but if you watch Herman's eyes very closely, you can see that it's really him, the real Herman Munster, but he is an ace at facial expressions which we don't notice when he has makeup on! Enjoy!
They show uncut Munsters TV show from 60's and leave in all the parts now. I noticed when I watched it the other day and I believe they cut this out when I was a kid!
"Indubitably." I love when he grabs the covers, haha! And practically yells in her face! Then SHE gets upset. How mean. But I just can't understand why Marilyn thinks he looks bad when she's not ugly and she doesn't realize that! Does she not have a mirror?? You'd think she'd like having "another pretty face" around.
I love this segment too! I'll just bet they never showed it on tv when I was a kid either the one where they kiss at the door, but since it's a bigger world now and it's an old show, you see they show it uncut. I love it. Thanks for the comments.
Well you see, what happens is that as she've grown with them and she's been brought up in a way that she has they're sense of beauty, plus if you tell a girl that she's ugly she will believe it and find anything like her looks (in this case "normal" or "pretty")quite unatractive

The only thing you might have seen him in, is the judge in "My Cousin Vinny" and that was the last film he played in.

I saw that, too. Loved his performance. He nailed that Southern accent.
