see kids!!..back in my day we had to play live on tv!! lol!! Ann's voice just before the guitar solo and going out of the guitar solo is just fkn awesome!!!
@rbilleaud I completely disagree. From the most recent Youtube videos I've seen of hers, she can definitely still go pretty crazy vocally. They've gone back to the slowed down ending of crazy on You (which is intense), she still does the same high note in "Alone", and even the most recent video of "Love Reign O'r me" that I've seen was incredible! I would say a few of her highest notes are a little more hit or miss, but I wouldn't go as far as saying she's "lost" it altogether.
You need to hear this: Get thee behind me satan! which being necessarly defined to you, since you would naturaly get it wrong, is to say to the one who is your father; Get back, you do not lead the truth!
Grats! They were just nominated to the rrhof. w00t! I urge everyone to go vote, the rrhof website has a public vote for the first time ever. If your a fan, go vote!
Fat or thin, Ann Wilson is AMAZING. Unfortunately over the last few years she's lost the ability to flat-out wail. Aging sucks. She's still incredibly powerful.
@flyers1jt Oh yeah, no doubt. I've been a fan since way back, in fact the first album I ever owned was Dog and Butterfly which I bought right after it was released. I saw them live only once back in '86 I guess it was. Ann does what Robert Plant has learned to do (no surprise there since Ann is a big Zeppelin fan) and that is to alter the arrangement of a song to fit her limited vocal range. She may throw in some cool pitch changes to compensate for the inability to hold a single long note.
this was a wildly, weird & wonderful song-BUT NO MATTER,,,HEART IS ONE OF THE BEST! I was lucky enough to see them twice-[now that I'm Alot older,I would love to see them again...but this time I WILL BE SOBER & take it to HEART]
As awesome as her voice is on this the band is just as amazing. The subtleties of all the background instruments are perfection on this video. For a live version this sounds like a remixed studio recording. It is amazing all the way around. Going on my favorites right now!
@DA90027 The magazine album was recorded in 75 and 76. Because of a prolonged legal band with the band's label, the album was released twice, in 77 and 78. This is the same concert as the crazy on you 76 youtube video.
@DA90027 Yeah this is definitely 1976. They got to work on Magazine right after Dreamboat and they don't play anything from Little Queen at this show. Also notice their clothes and hair especially the girls and Roger. This is very early in the band's successful history.
I believe that the x number of people who (unfortunately) disliked this video are entitled to have their own opinion, and to express it without fear of having their genitals cut off. They probably like different musical genres, which is fine.
i keep seeing "heart should be in the hall of fame" type stuff...not that i care about whos in the hall of fame of rock, but if heart isnt it, fuck, its not worth you caring about it either!
Two things; "keep on sinning in the name of rock and roll" and "you never realize how love dies when you crucify your soul". This along with the emotional snare exihibited between lead guitarist and lead vocalist indicates clearly that witchcraft is involved here. Needs not to be! Know the truth and the truth will set you free! Repent ye! And be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ the Righteous!
@1TheAlpha don't even say the word witchcraft, the church butchered far too many people out of that blind term, so don't post this offensive idiocy where people can see it, I have nothing against religion just the sick perverse ways that people like you use it. this is the same thinking that has poisoned so much that is good with the world. And beyond that it is abundantly clear that you didn't understand the message of your Messiah, who preached love and acceptance, not this petty judgment.

wonderful band, Ann has by far the best voice ever, Interesting to see them in concert a few years ago, Ann is a little chunky, but still pretty, but Nancy has gotten even better looking with age. And when she plays and dances around, man, makes your heart explode.
How pretty and what a powerful voice! Just awesome! There is not 1 person on American Idol who could compare to Ann.I still think the Bassist looks queer in that man boob shirt. What an idiot, I bet he was high...lol
Loves the pipes on Nancy Wilson, she was pretty hot back in the day too! one of the greatest rock songs of all time no doubt, but the guy with the freaky leather getup..jesus, my eyes are bleeding now..

@vrkurosawa Yeah no doubt Britney too . But Heart,Linda Ronstadt and Alice Cooper aren't deemed worthy enough of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Johnny Rotten was right it is a pisstain.
@8484terry AND NineCatsz ...Heart always been from Seattle,..relocated to vancouver in 1976 to record dreamboat annie + magazine...Wilson's always say they from Seattle,..but in the 1970's they claimed they were "embarrassed" to be american and said were canadian (According to my mom who saw live show in '77) .....reconfirmed in march 2010 when i saw em live with mom in victoria bc, canada .. and said, like in the 1970's, theyre embarrassed to be american ......ooohhh barracuda to that :)
@mrhiway420 very interesting, maybe it was the war that made them embarrassed? I just read that the one guy in the band avoided the draft , and headed to Vancouver, and Ann was dating him, so she followed with him...
@8484terry. Ann & Nancy are originally from California. They lived in various places about the world, 'till their father retired from the Marines, and settled in Bellevue WA. The band formed in Seattle.
Here is the reason I have gone to see this band 4 times. I loved every single show and wouldn't have missed one for just about anything. Voice like a lead guitar, is the way my cousin who plays a screamin' Les Paul; white with all gold inlays and pickups, describes her.
@steinbecktheman i keep seeing comments like yours...not that i care about whos in the rock hall of fame, but if heart isnt in it, fuck, its not worth you caring about it either!
How many Kanye West videos I have to go through to find this? I was expecting this to be the first thing to pop up when searching with just the word Heartless.
What is the type of piano that Howard Leese is using on this tune? It's definitely an electric grand of some kind, but it doesn't sound like any I'm familiar with (for example; the Yamaha CP-70 or 80 or the Kawai Electric Grand)
GOD! 1:03 and 158 the way she belts out those words... i cant even explain how fuckin good she does it. My heart melts whenever she belts out her words like that. Like in crazy on you. I LOVE IT!
@lalalaboy655 True. Compared to most of today's pop tartlets who would have no show if they could not lip-synch and jiggle their way into being noticed, and then sing weak songs tht do not strain their limited skills, Heart is a class act.
@lalalaboy655 sooo soos oo amazing i was just going to comment on that and I was you already had cant believe how terrific she is<3 but check out 1:55
that's totally Heartless they aren't in the R&RHOF ...wtf is wrong with ppl, Madonna isnt half as talented the fake phony talent like so many out in the mainstrream industry...shameful.
This band is incredible!!!! I've been a huge fan from the beginning. It's nice to see footage any time one wants these days. Back in the 70's you were lucky to catch them on television once a year.
Yup, I agree. Can't figure out why Madonna is there. She certainly can't hit these notes like Ann. All these awards, etc. are just popularity contests it seems. It doesn't always have to do with talent. She's the greatest female singer ever.
OMG! Ann nails this beautifully! Nancy, and the guitar compliment each other as usual. They look so beautiful and, for lack of a better word, different! Very, very talented young women (and men) indeed. :)
Man, this version here is HORRIBLE compared to the version on "Heart: Greatest Hits Live (1980)....:(. The only thing on this version that really stands out is that on this version, you can hear the male singers singing back up clearly. On the GTL, it sounded as if Ann were singing the whole song solo... :/
Yo iría más allá, es que Madonna no ha hecho rock n´roll en su puta vida. Y mira que se ha intentado disfrazar de ello según el momento...pero el hábito no hace al monje.
What HEART isnt in the rock an roll hall of fame??? i thought they already were. if they arent thats BULLSHIT!! thoses rock n roll hall of fame bastards are stupid. fuckin madonna doesnt even sing rock WTF!!!! an where r u guys hearing this from anyway?

What is the type of piano that Howard Leese is using on this tune? It's definitely an electric grand of some kind, but it doesn't sound like any I'm familiar with (for example; the Yamaha CP-70 or 80 or the Kawai Electric Grand)

GOD! 1:03 and 158 the way she belts out those words... i cant even explain how fuckin good she does it. My heart melts whenever she belts out her words like that. Like in crazy on you. I LOVE IT!

@lalalaboy655 True. Compared to most of today's pop tartlets who would have no show if they could not lip-synch and jiggle their way into being noticed, and then sing weak songs tht do not strain their limited skills, Heart is a class act.
sirmush 1 year ago
@lalalaboy655 Totally agree! She nails it to the wall both times!

malcatron 1 year ago
@malcatron Yeah, looks like Steve Fossen is a fashion casualty of the seventies here, right? Quite a nipple-peeking tank top there!

What ever happened to Great T.V. Like this with a Great band with Ann and Nancy Wilson?
darrenable1 1 year ago
they had to be seriously stoned to let the bass player wear that. Is that why people are talking about Madonna?
xkcman 1 year ago
Holy s*** Ann can SING! That just blew me away, good job you guys. And thanks for the vid!!!!

This band is incredible!!!! I've been a huge fan from the beginning. It's nice to see footage any time one wants these days. Back in the 70's you were lucky to catch them on television once a year.

whats up with the bassist's exposed nipple top ??? FAIL

Need to put that bass player's goofy shirt on Anne. Then we're talkin.

mmm...witchy woman, what a lady. whoever underestimated this band was nuts.

That bass players shirt is fucked up. Good song though.

@blueridger28 I think he must have been carrying the adoration of the Wilson sisters too far...

Yup, I agree. Can't figure out why Madonna is there. She certainly can't hit these notes like Ann. All these awards, etc. are just popularity contests it seems. It doesn't always have to do with talent. She's the greatest female singer ever.
BevTheConcertJunkie 1 year ago
OMG! Ann nails this beautifully! Nancy, and the guitar compliment each other as usual. They look so beautiful and, for lack of a better word, different! Very, very talented young women (and men) indeed. :)

A great show. Every performance is my favourite live version ! !
Veradoradehon 1 year ago
Man, this version here is HORRIBLE compared to the version on "Heart: Greatest Hits Live (1980)....:(. The only thing on this version that really stands out is that on this version, you can hear the male singers singing back up clearly. On the GTL, it sounded as if Ann were singing the whole song solo... :/

Yo iría más allá, es que Madonna no ha hecho rock n´roll en su puta vida. Y mira que se ha intentado disfrazar de ello según el momento...pero el hábito no hace al monje.

I've been listening to this band for 20 years and still can't get over Anns voice, HOLY CRAP! oh yeah, and smokin hot!

Man, timeless. Ann kicks ass on this song.
