How can you all compare WWII with WWI, Vietnam, Irak, etc.? Everyone who knew politics was aware that Hitler was trying to defeat the British first and then declare war on America. What's weird is that back in the '30s, the anti-war folks tended to be conservatives and those who supported the war were largely of the establishment left. Anyway, it was "holocaustexpert" who mentioned Wiesel and I suspect he mentioned him because Wiesel is a symbol for the Holocaust in spite of various of his claims having been disproven not just by revisionists but also by Jewish authors like Norman Finkelstein. There aren't many witnesses who claim first hand evidence of extermination and most (if not all) are quite easy to debunk.

How can you all compare WWII with WWI, Vietnam, Irak, etc.? Everyone who knew politics was aware that Hitler was trying to defeat the British first and then declare war on America. The firsters and such where only helping Hitler the same way that Chamberlain did by not preparing the country for war. What's weird is that back in the '30s, the anti-war folks tended to be conservatives and those who supported the war were largely of the establishment left. Even Woody Guthrie wrote songs demonizing the America-firsters, calling them Nazi sympathizers. The reason for this was because Hitler believed the Jews were a threat due to the subversive activities of a significant number of Jews. From 1939 onwards, Jews were sent in large numbers to ghettoes and concentration camps to isolate them from the general public, much like Roosevelt did with Japanese-Americans. @holocaustexpert I said nothing at all about Wiesel. I shall reread "Night," however, to check your assertions. Meanwhile, please prove that Wiesel was never an Auschwitz detainee. Also that anything he has written proves there were no gas chambers. Also that what Wiesel has written about other means of Nazi execution are false. Remember, dear holocaust "expert," effective argument requires CONNECTING THE DOTS. You have yet to do so.

The evidence for this consists of the numerous documents the Nazis left, photographs, forensic tests, the numerous inconsistencies of the gas chamber conspiracy theory, no working gas chambers being found, conflicting testimonies, etc. If you're seriously interested, I can recommend a few books on the topic.

@stevevandien : Just because you are ignorant of evidence for a claim, that doesn't mean the claim is unproven. Anyway, it was "holocaustexpert" who mentioned Wiesel and I suspect he mentioned him because Wiesel is a symbol for the Holocaust in spite of various of his claims having been disproven not just by revisionists but also by Jewish authors like Norman Finkelstein. There aren't many witnesses who claim first hand evidence of extermination and most (if not all) are quite easy to debunk.

@stevevandien : During the Nazi regime, German author Giselher Wirsing actually published a book called "Der maßlose Kontinent. Roosevelts Kampf um die Weltherrschaft", translated as "the immoderate continent. Roosevelt's struggle for global domination". It's interesting back then few people took it seriously because it was published by the Nazis, but it's actually more unbiased and and accurate than anything written about Hitler today and many details are still accurate for US imperialism today

@dgoren1 I've lately read Scott Berg's bio of Lindbergh, plus Lindbergh's "Wartime Journals" and "The Spirit of St. Louis." Definitely a complicated man. I agree about about Lindbergh and the Nazis. His thoughts about Jews were complicated as well. On one hand, Lindbergh acknowledged his admiration for Jews as a race. On the other, he said the US shouldn't let too many of them in. He wrote that a certain number of Jews improve a nation, but larger numbers could hurt it. More to come --

I first heard of it in one of those mainstream documentaries out there (I believe it was a BBC documentary) and you'll also find it briefly mentioned on Wikipedia. This is only an excerpt of Lindbergh's speech. It cannot be accurately assessed if the entire speech is not posted. As for me, , the evidence is clear. Lindbergh, like millions of Americans in 1939-41, did not want war; and he found fault with some of FDR's foreign policy machinations,. Yet after Pearl Harbor, Lindbergh devoted himself to the war effort. Ultimately, he flew multiple combat missions in the South Pacific, although officially a civilian.

@stevevandien - Father Charles Coughlin printed a newspaper in the 1930's called Social Justice. He had a readership between 10-15 million folks, largely the Catholics. He figured out FDR was a commie and a liar in 1934 and began printing weekly articles about him and those in his cabinet as well as the Jews who were plotting war as early as 1934. Those newspaper are still to be found in ebay. FDR supported Stalin in the war and helped half of Europe remain in commies grip for 60 yrs. traitor!

For all his venality, Stalin and the Soviet Union were also enemies of Nazi Germany. Without the USSR's support --- and often quite gallant efforts -- the US and Britain could NOT have eliminated the Nazis. That's just a cold, hard fact of history. The US supported Saddam Hussein's Iraq against Iran in that war, because Iran presented the greater . . .

Iraq invaded Kuwait after it got a green light from an American ( woman) in the State Department who told Saddam, we would not interfere. It ended her career - thank goodness. @holocaustexpert : You forgot to mention the Dresden Holocaust and the bombings at Nagasaki and Hiroshima, which contrast pretty well with Hitler's mercy at Dunkirk. During those bombings, hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed by the British and American authorities for no other reason but to humiliate their enemies. Each of these bombings were totally unnecessary and the horror of the Dresden massacre goes beyond imagination.

@HansBooBee I concede every point:). I've been reading Charles A. Lindbergh's WW II journals. I'd still argue with some of his opinions pre-WW II and some thereafter. But once the US declared war, CAL supported his country without reservation. Though in his 40s and despite his official status as a civilian consultant/observer, he flew some 50 combat missions in the Pacific Theater. Like most of us, CAL was imperfect:). . But he was also a loyal American and a brave man.
