Yes - it has progressed a little in the intervening decades and our job focusses on maintenance as well as using the house to promote culture, promote the preservation of what is worth preserving and to promote that often what is thought to be impossible really is possible. It's made possible by good people giving help and support and most importantly by slow dedication. We are so used to driving motor cars that we forget that we can get to places by putting one foot in front of another.
