@cornelius600 Okay I explain you very briefly: there's a civil war in Rapture when you enter the city and the splicers are fighting either on Atlas (Frank Fontaine) or Andrew Ryan's side. The people you hear on audio logs are mostly scientists or scouts working for Andrew, and you even get to fight against them (Steinman, Sander Cohen, Peach Wilkins). There are some other vital characters too like Tenembaum who takes care of the little sisters in an orphanage and Langford who created Arcadia.
