Last year, I saw a documentory that showed malformed kids and people with disabilities all kept in a very primitative type hospital, with row after row of beds in a large room. Showed how the rest of society went forwards while the misfortunate were put somewhere, out of the way. It was either filmed in Korea or China. If I can find it, I'll post it.

I do not think that way. I only said it because of the way I was treated in Canada. In 1970 I was diagnosed with Epilepsy and was banned from returning to school for Public Safety. In a letter, our Government claimed... "The Safety of Thousands is More Important than the Satisfaction of Just One." When I reached age 18, I was declaired "Unemployable for Public Safety" and sent to live in a Home for the Handicapped where I was sexually fixed, which I'm told was mandatory.

I was just watching a wonderful documentary about Chinese disabled persons 20 years after a quake, who were injured, and have wonderful care and an excellent facility including musical therapy. It really disgusts me hearing these right wing nut jobs comparing people who are brain dead in a coma to people who are mentally or physically disabled. This gross comparison is almost as bad as PETA comparing meat companies to the holocost. These people say its inhuman to starve people, I think its inhuman to force people to live while there is no hope of recovery...Only an act of god, a true miracle, could have healed her brain...

I understand the debate and believe cases like this should be debated, but a comment. It's "infarction" not "infraction," in reference to the "heart attack." I understand this woman had very little medically that would allow recovery. I also believe her soul is another matter entirely. To be able to make a medical argument, the medical must be correct/understood. We push advance directives due to patients like Terri. Also, when is it abuse toward the patient?

I know the difference between "disabled" and "unrecoverable". And those so called supporters lying in the driveway are just extremest's (sp) in wheelchairs, that's absurd.

Terri had no chance, she was no longer with us here, she just left a hollow shell. I do agree we must come up with a better way to let someone go, not just pull out the tube. The patient might not feel anything but that draws out a longer than needed death when family and friends have no choice but to wait & watch.

I rode that same train aswell. I do not understand where the hell anyone, parents, brother, doctor's..saw life in this poor woman! Right now I'm fuming at the fact that the support was not more motivated towards letting Mrs Schiavo go. This was a beautiful woman who had no chance of recovery period, and I feel sick that personal necessity played a disturbing factor in keeping her alive.

Terri Shiavo died in 1990. She was finally given the release from the physical cage that her family her in. Michael Shiavo did what was humane for her.

She was conscious and could interact with her family. She even said I want to live during the ordeal that finally killed her. They sedated her with morphine during the 13 days they starved and dehydrated her to death. If all she had was a brain stem and felt no pain why the need for sedation. I'm not playing God, would never consider it but I can guarantee you people who starve and dehydrate other people to death will have a special place in hell.

She was not self-conscious of her surroundings. She could not interact you obviously do not know what someone with a destroyed cerebral cortex looks like. She could not see, hear or sense. What you saw was common for people in a PVS state where if they get a pin prick their body has a reflex. This reflex is controlled by the brain stem

Pray tell what is tedesco doing on a florida case? Did they go out and find people that only gave their opinion. Her cerebral cortex was gone look at the brain scans. There was nothing left that could control her swallowing, etc. Saying something is intact does not mean that is it functional. This is a qualifying word tedesco uses.

Dr. Hammesfahr revealed that Larry King had suggested to Michael Schiavo that he let Mr. King's news crew go in to film Terri, to settle once and for all what Terri's condition is, and that Michael REFUSED!

She had 3 years of rehabilitation including experimental therapy. She had speech therapy she showed no signs of improvement. Either you're being dishonest or hammesfahr is as she did have Therapy! How long do you think insurance companies or even government subsidized medical treatment can go on for without improvement? They don't just give you a free pass for infinite amounts of therapy.

The fact remains she couldn't swallow that is why the autopsy found that she had been aspirating for quite sometime. If you tried to give her water she would have choked and died from pnemonia. Facial expressions aren't controlled by the cerebral cortex. You can make facial expressions simply by use of the brainstem and can do it without being conscious.

I actually like your videos on Giuliani however these videos are filled with inaccurate information. Everything I have said is correct I've followed this case from day one. No certified neurologist who examined her concluded what you did. The nurses had no proof of any of their claims. One wasn't even a nurse at the time she filed the affidavit and others weren't there when Terri was.

The reason she couldn't see is because the parts of her brain that translate the signals to her eye and back to her brain were nonfunctional. It is common practice to give patients near term morphine so their body's muscles relax and it is easier on the family to watch. Medical treatment is withheld all the time on request from the patient. Pretty soon you'll try making it so not even living wills or POAs are followed as you would think the person was in a state of duress. People have a right to self-determination.

Ever notice how many Asians come to America, and not one of them has any sort of disability? That's because in Asia, if a child is under 1 year of age and shows signs of a disability, it's recommended that the parents have the child put down and try again. Adults who develop a disability later in life get moved out of town to a community for people with disabilities, to keep their main cities free of all illnesses.

Although when I started having Epileptic Seizures in the 60's (born in 1962) I got put in a Mental Health place (since seizures occur in the brain). They had me sexually fixed (vasectomy) which was done to all patients who get locked away. When I turned Legal Age, there was an Epilepsy Society, so I got moved to a Home for the Handicapped, as the safety of thousands is more important than the satisfaction of just one.
