@marijamayhem , I hate arguing with people that don't know the facts and are too stubborn to look it up. Egg binding occurs more commonly in smaller birds and if you love your bird and knew all the facts you would take her to an avian vet immediately if she's been straining to lay an egg after an hour. If the egg is trapped for too long it can and will damage nerves in the oviduct and put pressure on vital organs.

And there are no bones being broken, it's trapped in the oviduct.

A little gross and painful to watch, but congrats on helping the bird! Anyone who's saying this is "bad" had so clue what they're talking about. Eggbinding is serious business and will kill the bird. Remember, with birds, EVERYTHING comes out of one opening, unlike in mammals, which have a separate birth canal. That means the egg was blocking the end of the digestive tract. The bird would not have been able to lay an egg on her own that was coming out sideways like that at all.

Excellent video!!! This poor bird probably would have died had she not gotten the help she needed at the vet! So happy to see people getting educated about birds! I'm amazed at how ignorant and uneducated people can be when it comes to helping birds in the birthing process! They love to sling names and tell you to leave the bird alone, but birds die when eggs get stuck, or when a baby gets stuck in the egg. BRAVO!!! Mabuhay ang Filipinas.

i learned something new today, birds being egg bound, and it is such a terrible thing. it bothers me that no one reads the many thumbed up comments about birds being egg bound, and just assume that they're smarter than a fucking VETERINARIAN and call him a retard for saving its life. i hate watching videos with lots of idiots who won't inform themselves and comment on how this video is hurting the animal, or that it is bad for it.

@ctagawa It's called being egg bound. Female birds can become egg bound and unless anything is done about it, they will die from it because the egg eventually cracks and rots away inside the vent. It didn't crack when it was pushed out because of the way they were pushing it out. If you push it out the right way, the shell is strong enough to not crack. And they've had gas masks for birds for a long time. They also use those for rodents -.-
