I agree with you Dr Duke, but the civil war was not about slavery. If it was, Lincoln would not have given the south a chance to keep their slaves if they came back to the union.

@glorp896 The civil war was not about slavery. For one, less then 5% of the south owned slaves, so I am sure the other 95% would not fight to defend what is not theirs. And second, the Proclamation stated that the south could keep their slaves if they returned by a certain date. If the war was about ending it, I am sure Lincoln would not have made the Proclamation in that way.

It wasnt that long ago when America was making great strides at becoming one nation, there was a sense of pride in accomplishments. AA was designed to be a launching pad for those who were being discriminated, but failed miserably when instead of giving minorities an equal chance, it favored them based on race. I'm talking about slavery in the Americas; not Ancient times. No ancient form of slavery ever discriminated based on race and it was not chattel slavery (as in slave = property) like in the Americas.
Natives were enslaved; well actually, Indian tribes sold Indian war criminals to the whites, but some innocent Natives were enslaved. Irish people were a larger majority that were enslaved. Italians were also enslaved. Scottish, Welsh, and English slaves usually were just indentured servants (Contract slaves) for a certain period of time. It wasn't until slavery ended, that it was looked upon as a racial issue, mainly because all whites were treated equally after slavery.
I don't think you quite understand what I meant. They had many Irish slaves in Jamaica and the Caribbean. I'm not saying that only black people have ever been enslaved during the time period of colonization. What I'm saying is that the stigma of a certain race = slave has only ever happened once in recorded history. There were white and native slaves at the time (Thomas Jefferson owned legally white slaves); but all blacks were seen as at slave status, whilst slavery was happening, not after.
Slavery in America started at around the early 1600s (The first Black Slave was introduced). The first time that Black people were ever regarded as a "Slave Race" was in the late 1830s, which was less than 30 years before the end of slavery. Ironically, the only time that "Slave race" ever became prominent, was in 1860s (When slavery ended). Also, the word "Nigger" was used thousands of times more than "Slave race" during that time.

Black people have dominant genes, because they have been homogenous for thousands of years, whereas the North European traits (Like blonde hair) are new. @glorp896 The civil war was not about slavery. For one, less then 5% of the south owned slaves, so I am sure the other 95% would not fight to defend what is not theirs. And second, the Proclamation stated that the south could keep their slaves if they returned by a certain date. If the war was about ending it, I am sure Lincoln would not have made the Proclamation in that way.

Natives were enslaved; well actually, Indian tribes sold Indian war criminals to the whites, but some innocent Natives were enslaved. Irish people were a larger majority that were enslaved. Italians were also enslaved. Scottish, Welsh, and English slaves usually were just indentured servants (Contract slaves) for a certain period of time. It wasn't until slavery ended, that it was looked upon as a racial issue, mainly because all whites were treated equally after slavery.

I don't think you quite understand what I meant. They had many Irish slaves in Jamaica and the Caribbean. I'm not saying that only black people have ever been enslaved during the time period of colonization. What I'm saying is that the stigma of a certain race = slave has only ever happened once in recorded history. There were white and native slaves at the time (Thomas Jefferson owned legally white slaves); but all blacks were seen as at slave status, whilst slavery was happening, not after.

The first time that Black people were ever regarded as a "Slave Race" was in the late 1830s, which was less than 30 years before the end of slavery. Ironically, the only time that "Slave race" ever became prominent, was in 1860s (When slavery ended). Also, the word "Nigger" was used thousands of times more than "Slave race" during that time.
