Neil Sedaka wrote and performed this song many years ago when he was quite young. Since then it was recorded by many other stars. I know the Carpenters and Elvis Presley recorded "covers" of it, but for Neil to say "It will forever be a Clay Aiken song" is the highest possible praise. Clay truly is the most talented "Idol" ever to compete in thei contest, and was the true winner. GO CLAY!!!

I am a little confused....can someone clear up something? In the long version of Solitaire which he does with the fire behind him, it is obvious that is on AI b/c you can see the crowd and the scenery in back of him. Don't see any judges on this particular performance.

Then I see him again doing Solitaire and a 'shorter' version of the song AND the judges comments. How did he do 2 different versions?

I'm not sure that it was a racial thing as much as it was who the producers could promote.AI1-Kelly Clarkson was definitely the best. After 1st year-it was like certain people were chosen to advance.They were the ones who got the most positive feedback. In Clay's case,if you notice unless Simon's opinion was negative,many times Simon commented on something other than Clay's performance but there were times Simon had to give it up to him 'cuz Clay's phenomenal!! I think he should've won.
