I LOVE how the 2ZZGE sounds like a Ferrari. Fuck those pitiful ricey Sis, that shows a lack of performance right there. The 2ZZGE has more torque and it revs higher.
@manny32788 Allright, there is something Toyota did not understand... Even when you are over only 5000Rpm, most of the time, the first thing that matters to you ain't the fuel economy...
who the hell said 4spd auto? almost all 2zz's came with a 6 spd and from the looks of this it might have stand alone. the corolla xrs has the changover point at 6750rpm but makes all the tq at 4400 unlike the celica which takes the whole power band to make full tq
SR20DE (w/out turbo), yes, the 2zz will take it easily only revving to 6k rpm, SR20DET (turbo) will be more of a challenge, depending on the model (S13, S14, S15 Silvia lineup have different power ratings.) I believe the S14 and S15 will easily take the 2zz.
The SR20DE is only 104-108kw (140-145hp) versus the 2zz-ge 141kw (190hp) power depends on some models released around the world.
Lift is like toyota's "V-Tec" like Honda in a basic way. They do basically the same thing (increased HP at a specific RPM) but work very different.
It's in the 2ZZ-GE motor which was in the Celica GT-S, Matrix XRS and Corolla XRS also in the lotus elise. In this video it the the Corolla XRS. For this viedo, once you hit around 6700 rpms the cam profile changes to the high cam profile. creating longer valve opening periods, increasing ho significantly. Hope this helps!
It's not a Celica. It's a JDM Toyota Fielder. The video is a bit old but soon i'll do a new vid with my Toyota Runx (another JDM 2zz-equipped vehicle).
THATS WHAT SO WEIRD ABOUT THE GTS CELICA. A person can race the celica against a certain car and lose, and then someone like this guy that can drive it correctly, can outrun the same car easily. I see tons of videos on Utube where Intergra's, RSX-r, and eclipse's outrun the celly GTS. I swear my hand on a bible I have raced ever car mention above and never been beaten. Some has been close, but never beaten.
damn dude, thats the best celly GTS shifting ive ever seen! I own an 00 GTS myself, the max speed ive ever gotten from 2nd gear is 68 mph! I think you got somewhere between 70 and 72 mph! I can't tell about the other gears, but I can say thats some damn good shifting. You should remake the video and show both speed and rpms
how did you set the lift to 9000 rpm. The USA toyota ecu's are locked, and can't be edited. The only way I know how is to buy an aftermarket ECU like Apexi PFC or Hydra.
I have a 2001 runx and i have been looking for an ecu that will work. Which one of the greddy emange works, is it the one for the celica? Is it a hard install?
the car is actually a Toyota Fielder Z, which is the JDM corolla wagon. It comes with the 2ZZ-GE and 6-speed gearbox. I actually set the rev limit to 9000 rpm

Yea for the celica gt-s its at 6K. Toyota detuned the motor raising the lift point to 6700rpm to increase fuel economy for the corolla and matrix.=)

@nonvoyxona
Any celicas before 03 may have a faulty lift bolt/pin or whatever, they fixed it after 03/03, this could be the problem.
