  • This is a lot better than her Christmas music, but she has an marked accent which takes away from it a little.

  • supergood!!

  • Such beautiful pictures of her! Her hair and make up is stunning in most of these pics!

  • love the ending

  • I love all three of the versions yet I love this one so much as I now know what she is saying as I do not speak latin. Her voice is so crystal clear and perfect; she is a gift from G-d. I get chills every time I here it

  • Karen Carpenter leaves babs in the dust on this one!

  • Such a Sweet song... I am touched. Nobody can sing like Barbra.

  • It's not AntiSenitic to think that she should maybe sing different words since she's singing about Jesus. She's Jewish.

  • @mjimme So was Jesus...

  • @mjimme the word is 'semitic' not 'senitic' - and don't some people believe that Jesus was King of the Jews anyway? There's a bit of a grey area around that whole thing. Barbra can sing any old words she wants to, as far as I'm concerned. It is just a song. And it IS anti-semitic to comment upon it.

  • Yuck!!!!! She really can make anything sound bad..........

  • If I could ever talk to Beautiful Baby Barbara, I would thank her for singing this in English♪ Not many singers would, even if I requested it♪

  • from jose sepulveda.......the hermeterec......Barbra is a goddess walking among men.

  • I love barbara streisand, but the best ave maria is done by connie francis. not celine dion. nor streisand, or karen carpenter. though i love them all. connie does the best ave maria.

  • @MEGABOINK65 Karen never sang this version. This is Franz Schubert melody. Karen sang the Bach Gounod version.

  • @MEGABOINK65 I meant that Karen never sang the version of Ave Maria that Connie Francis sang. There are two different versions of Ave Maria, one by Shubert and one by Bach Gounod. They have different melodies. Barbra and Karen sang the Bach Gounod version.

  • i love stevie wonders virsion.

  • She is a little off key here and there... this must be a recent work from her ..Voice is a little and worn too

  • @gacj2010 This is a cut recorded in 1966 from her first Xmas album. She has said that she had a cold during the recording sessions and the label would not resked the sessions. The songs were recorded in London and the album, minus this cut, was released in the fall of 1967. I think she was also pregnant during the sessions.

  • dfgh

  • So Holy, so incredible !

  • this is absolutely beautiful i want to sing this for my school and i dont think i could ever measure up to this

  • i like the other virsion better...but this one is beautiful too...

  • Incomparável e insuperável... sempre e amada Barbra.

  • divine, simply divine

  • So beautiful, but you should also check out Tarja Turunen's version of Ave Maria. It's incredibly amazing.

  • I love Barbra! Her voic is immaculate......

  • awesome! how i love Barbra's angelic voice... how i wish to hear more new love songs from her...

  • awesome! how i love Barbra's angelic voice... how i wish to hear more new love songs from her...

  • I love both of her versions. It is amazing the notes she hits on this version. I had it on the CD when it was released from starbucks yet can't find so grateful to this person for having. I love how we now have 3 versions English, originial Christmas album from 1967(which by the way is the top selling Christmas album of all time and the more subtle version on Christmas Memories.

  • I love this version so much more than Schubert version.

  • I dont care what the woman is!! What I do care about is the VOICE!!! And the woman has a DAMN GREAT VOICE!! Oh Merry Christmas!!

  • Why would anyone give a damn if Barbra is self centred, obnoxious and pushy? It's not as if she's ever going to call you and invite you over for dinner.

  • beautiful.......

  • I don't believe in all the Chrisian hooey, but this is pretty.

  • she fucked up the rhythm and i hate it

  • amazing!!!

  • Saying that Babs is a pushy, obnoxious, not so nice is like reporting that the planet Jupiter is large. What else is new, and what does that have to do with her beautiful voice and talent? If you think about it, the greatest and most successful show people were and are not so nice. Hope, Crosby, Sinatra come to mind, right off the bat.

  • The original Latin version of this song was released in 1967 on her famous 1967 "A Christmas Album." This is a beautiful alternate English version of that song.

  • I love Barbra. What's all this about her being obnoxious?. It sounds like anti-semitism to me. I think she has guts and speaks her own truth.

  • a truly obnoxious lady, jewish, singing one of the most holy of Christian songs, usually sung in either Latin or Italian, but this version in English. A Jew, singing a Christian song, in a non-traditional fashion in a brilliant manner. Only in America. What a wonderful people we are. Well done.

  • @amesburydory that's very "christian" of you. BTW, did you hear/ Jesus was A Jew.

  • @rambrewster I think she has a gorgeous voice, but a Christian is someone who believes that Christ, hence the words, Christmas, Christian. Barbra doesn't believe what she's singing. She doesn't believe that Jesus, a Jew, is her Savior. My fave is Karen Carpenter.

  • @mjimme Then don't listen to it. It's also called acting for Christ sakes! You Christians are so judgmental about everything. Chill.

  • Merry Christmas for All of You, who also adore Barbra Streisand! Yes, I also think that she has the most wonderful voice on this Earth!!

  • Merry Christmas....thank you for post!

  • I have never heard this versions of the Ave Maria, and i truly think that Barbara is one very obnoxious, self centered and demanding woman, you just can not take away the fact that she does have a voice, that for some reason, God gave only to her. spectacular.

  • Absolutely stunning...I am speechless. What a beautiful version. I had never heard an English version--ever--in my life. Thank you so much for sharing this w/ all of us. :) No one could EVER sing the Ave Maria, in English, like Barbra!

  • Such a beautiful song, and Barbra sang it most beautifully too. What a crystal clear voice she is blessed with.

    Thanks for posting.
