I play games for the story. By playing DA2 without playing DA:O, you have cheated yourself. It is rightfully assumed that if the buyer is getting a sequel, they know what happened in the first part of the series. So dont act like a cunt and give them shit for your mistake. Also, the red-head is someone you know (if you played Origins anyway), she's Leliana, she's a party companion and a romance option to you (aka The Warden) in Origins

The reason you gave it an 8 is because when you made this video you didn't play the 1st one first. Had you played all through origins first you would've rated it lower. Btw the mysterious redhead is a playable character from the first one named Leiliana (who some how reappears if you killed her in the first one.)
@MovadoMj if you are going to play any of the DA series, play Dragon Age Origins. It is a much better game than DA2, with a better story, better characters, better environments, and much more. It is a little more tactics oriented, but it is still ways better than DA2
Me personally, i never played any of the DA games but i'm planing to rent DA2. Frankly, kotor 1 and ME2 so far had the best endings for a bioware game. The worse had to be kotor2, knowing there's no kotor3 makes it worse.
Loved this game but I completely agree, DAII's ending was crap. Completely anti-climactic. I would even go so far as to say that the game would have ended better if it ended at the end of Act II instead of Act III. Without mentioning spoilers, that felt more like an end-game mission to me.
it's ok phil. i played 5 days of gameplay on the hardest difficulty and got this and i was pissed off too. I dont have any idea just what threat it is. i think it is the warden's child, but not everybody did the ritual with morrigan in the first game. if they do this in me3, i stand by you. that has always been my favorite series and my cod emblem is the n7 on shepards armor because i love mass effect so much. i will also be pissed if tali's face is not shown before the end. ):
I held off on watching this until I beat the game myself. I agree the ending was half assed and a cocktease to get you to buy the next expansion or Dragon Age 3. I can also see how you can be confused if you never played the first game. However I don't think the ending was all that "horrible". If anything it got me excited to see whats coming next. LOL! The ending didn't make sense to me because I did not get Leliana at all in DAO! I figured she was killed during the blight but I guess she survived after all she is skilled. In my DA2 playthrough I killed Fenris because I did not gain his friendship but in the ending video his face is shown. Couldn't bioware have made multiple ending videos from the choices you made?
I didn't have an opinion until I finished the game today, but DSP you didn't finish the first game. So the ending has much less impact because you didn't know who Leliana was. I think the ending is comparible to mass effect. But to say it is one of the worst endings in games is a little over the top.
Yes, the ending is mystifying (especially for those who haven't played Dragon Age: Origins) but we know a whole lot more than you're letting on: we know the Seekers are looking for the Champion of Kirkwall, because they believe she'll be a voice of reason to both the Templars and Mages, the two opposition parties in the on-going war that was caused by events which the Champion played a huge part in. When referring to "the warden" they mean, the Hero of Ferelden who also disappeared in the end.
@crioman1 he got thousands of messages that he should play it when the game came out but he ignored them because it wasnt his job back then. All he has to do is buy the ultimate edition of dragon age origins and he wont have to worry about paying for the full story. I don't see what's so hard to understand. It was mentioned in the game that The Seekers oversee the Templars. Varric mentioned that the other circles also rebelled against the templars and there is a war going on. Since the Champion has so much influence with the mages the Seekers are looking for him, but he had to flee Kirkwall because he helped the mages in their rebellion and he is considered an apostate (at least my mage champion is :P)

Actually, the "Mysterious Red-headed woman" is Leliana from the first game and she says that the Warden's gone as well.
The interrogator is detailed in the Codex Entries (She's basically Internal Affairs for the Chantry and wants the true story behind Hawke, who she thought was responsible for fucking up the Chantry via inciting open war with the Mages and Templars. Basically Varric tells her that it's Anders who fucked everything up).

Flemeth was killed in DA:O, that's why you have to deliver the amulet in the second one, she says that if you hadn't delivered it, she'd most probably be dead by then, seeing as it's far into the future after the archdemon is gone.

how is it that you can complain about the ending because you didn't play the first game? does it really matter who the red-head is? (for those who don't know her name is liliana, although I probable have a spelling error) and besides, why bother playing an RPG if you don't know the whole story? RPG's are about seeing a new world, and it usually helps to know the history, also, if you had bothered to read some of those codex entries then the gaps in the game would have been explained.

I kinda agree with Phil but why hate on a game just because of the ending? Bioware is an awesome company who could get you easily hooked to games. They probably have something up their sleeves. But if Mass Effect 3 has a mysterious or doesn't make sense ending, that doesn't mean you have to stop playing games from Bioware.
2) Leliana was a seeker of the chantry in DA: O, but as said can be changed into an assassin.A logical statement can be made is that Leliana went back to being a seeker to find the Warden again or even Hawke after both disappeared as stated in DSP's part 180 of the playthrough.
3) Phil, you should've played Origins first because it is 10 times more epic than DA; II.

***Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II SPOILERS****
1) In Origins, when the Warden is in Lothering where everything is burned and run down to shit because of the Darkspawn, you can meet Leliana and recruit her as a companion. Hawke is also from Lothering and left the place when it wasrun by darkspawn. Basically, Hawke and Leliana were from the same place in Ferelden and went to two different paths at the end.
Ending was actually pretty good yes it was open ended but it seemed pretty reasonable to be honest. Everything made sense to me especially finishing origins but hey i loved the ending it was soo fking sick and the credits were just as good as the origins ending song man wow it was epic ass ending...........LoLuMaD:)
4) Leliana is explained to the player but only if you got the Exiled prince DLC, which is still bullshit 4) Bioware changed the outcomes of many of the characters from DA:O, like Anders, regardless of some choices made and finally 5) This game was rushed: DA:O was released in 2009 and took 5 years to develop while as DA2 was completed in just a year and a half. Hope this helps.

So, in a sequel, you're complaining about characters you don't know unless you played the predecessor. DLC is optional. You don't get any explanation of who Leiliana is (as a character) it's just a cameo appearance.
@alrdd I'm saying this because, according to bioware, the game is suppose to be a good entry point for those who did not play DA:O, yet in regards to characters like Leliana, she is only explained for her cameo if you get the exiled prince DLC, in which you meet her, recognize her name, and ask "Leliana? the same Leliana who traveled with the Hero of Fereldan and helped him/her end the Blight?" to which Leliana reply's with a recap of her relation to The hero. Not everyone plays the first game.
The world is in the middle of a massive war with the mages and teplars hawke is the only one who can stop it had you talked with all your companions they tell hawke what they will do when they leave his side hawke is wanted by the chantry which has a habit of kill people who help mages since he starts a massive rebbilion with the mages he is probally on the run.
I played The first Dragon Age, I won't lie I thoroughly enjoyed it, good fighting, good scenes, and a great story, but being an avid gamer I like to stay in the know and When I heard DA2 was shit, I was ok I'll wait and I will lay off and and wait for the reviews, I opted not to buy it, Because, I watched gameplays and ultimately decided it wasn't worth my money. I don't agree wit Phil that Bioware has become a shity company, but I do agree with the fact that the ending of DA2 was horse shit.

Dragon age origins was freaking amazing everybody should play that before DA2. DA2 hints at little decisions made in origins which is neat. But leliana (the redhead from DAO) actually showed up in DA2 before the ending. Idk if Phil never saw her but she's in DA2
DPS would be more lienent of he understood the world. This is not like ME, there is no "bad guys" to beat for an ending.

- Archdemons + Darkspawn
- Old Gods
- Flemeth
- The Qunari vs Tevinter Emperium war
- The demons and spirits of the Fade
- The brewing conflicts of Ferelden and Orlais
There is a LOT of stuff to keep this series going for a long time. You are supposed to enjoy the game. There is never a "good" ending to a game where it doesn't end.
The problem is that they tried to over-simplify game mechanics in both Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2, as well as not explaining the past plot in the games.
It's the same f***ing tease as with assassin's creed. You know the redhead if you have the DLC the exiled prince as well. I played both games and love bioware role playing games. I have both games, but I do agree that companies push DLC and follow up games too much. Assasin´s Creed´s ending suck donkey d#ck too.
That said, the endings aren't their strong point. It was the same for Baldur's Gate I.
I absolutely LOVE the Baldur's Gate games, but the ending of part 1 was as open as can be.
There was a possibility to skip the payment part, first day DLCs were free for those who preorder DA2.
Knowing who Leli was is not vital to the plot. You chose not to play DAO before playing it's sequel, not to play DA2 DLCs, not to do your homework by searching info in the Net, you chose to ignore every fucking bit of extra info, so now just fucking deal with it. You don't know the redhead and that's it. She is just a random gal hanging out with Cassandra. That's enough for ya.
I guess this means Bioware hopes this builds up the hype for Dragon Age 3. The ending was too open-ended. It makes sense that they'll make another Dragon Age just for the sake of what happens to everyone in the Dragon Age series. Another sequel just for the sake of whatever they want from us.
@Oneeyelarry Actually, on BIOWARE'S site in the FAQ section. It states that you do not have to play the first one to understand Dragon Age 2. They said it is a stand alone adventure, which clearly, it isn't.
It's Dragon Age TWO for a reason. You're supposed to play the first one before the second. You don't watch a movie sequel without watching the first one. You don't read a book sequel without reading the first one.

LOL! The ending didn't make sense to me because I did not get Leliana at all in DAO! I figured she was killed during the blight but I guess she survived after all she is skilled. In my DA2 playthrough I killed Fenris because I did not gain his friendship but in the ending video his face is shown. Couldn't bioware have made multiple ending videos from the choices you made?

I didn't have an opinion until I finished the game today, but DSP you didn't finish the first game. So the ending has much less impact because you didn't know who Leliana was. I think the ending is comparible to mass effect. But to say it is one of the worst endings in games is a little over the top.

Yes, the ending is mystifying (especially for those who haven't played Dragon Age: Origins) but we know a whole lot more than you're letting on: we know the Seekers are looking for the Champion of Kirkwall, because they believe she'll be a voice of reason to both the Templars and Mages, the two opposition parties in the on-going war that was caused by events which the Champion played a huge part in. When referring to "the warden" they mean, the Hero of Ferelden who also disappeared in the end.

I don't see what's so hard to understand. It was mentioned in the game that The Seekers oversee the Templars. Varric mentioned that the other circles also rebelled against the templars and there is a war going on. Since the Champion has so much influence with the mages the Seekers are looking for him, but he had to flee Kirkwall because he helped the mages in their rebellion and he is considered an apostate (at least my mage champion is :P)

Actually, the "Mysterious Red-headed woman" is Leliana from the first game and she says that the Warden's gone as well.
The interrogator is detailed in the Codex Entries (She's basically Internal Affairs for the Chantry and wants the true story behind Hawke, who she thought was responsible for fucking up the Chantry via inciting open war with the Mages and Templars. Basically Varric tells her that it's Anders who fucked everything up).

1) In Origins, when the Warden is in Lothering where everything is burned and run down to shit because of the Darkspawn, you can meet Leliana and recruit her as a companion. Hawke is also from Lothering and left the place when it wasrun by darkspawn. Basically, Hawke and Leliana were from the same place in Ferelden and went to two different paths at the end.

@alrdd I'm saying this because, according to bioware, the game is suppose to be a good entry point for those who did not play DA:O, yet in regards to characters like Leliana, she is only explained for her cameo if you get the exiled prince DLC, in which you meet her, recognize her name, and ask "Leliana? the same Leliana who traveled with the Hero of Fereldan and helped him/her end the Blight?" to which Leliana reply's with a recap of her relation to The hero. Not everyone plays the first game.

1) The mysterious readhead is a bard named Leliana, who was a companion and potential love interest to the main character in DA:O
2) The person Leliana is looking for is the Warden/The hero of Fereldan: the main hero from DA:O who, just like Hawke, has gone missing
3) Sadly, the ending was a cock-tease for DA3 and, according to Bioware, no future DLC's will take place after the main plot (cont.)

I played The first Dragon Age, I won't lie I thoroughly enjoyed it, good fighting, good scenes, and a great story, but being an avid gamer I like to stay in the know and When I heard DA2 was shit, I was ok I'll wait and I will lay off and and wait for the reviews, I opted not to buy it, Because, I watched gameplays and ultimately decided it wasn't worth my money. - Archdemons + Darkspawn
- Old Gods
- Flemeth
- The Qunari vs Tevinter Emperium war
- The demons and spirits of the Fade
- The brewing conflicts of Ferelden and Orlais
There is a LOT of stuff to keep this series going for a long time. You are supposed to enjoy the game. There is never a "good" ending to a game where it doesn't end.

I have both games, but I do agree that companies push DLC and follow up games too much. Assasin´s Creed´s ending suck donkey d#ck too.
That said, the endings aren't their strong point. It was the same for Baldur's Gate I.
I absolutely LOVE the Baldur's Gate games, but the ending of part 1 was as open as can be.
